      @@DNAMobileGaming Is there anything special I need to do with the complete ROMs of the Atari and Magnavox Odyssey games? It appears they are all single files. However, the Commodore 64 roms are all zipped (individual games)

      @GettingItDone I've had a few ask me about this, I will take a look into these consoles as I never played them. Recently had someone else ask about Commodore Amiga as well so I'll see what I can do this week.

    just freshly factory reset my device & followed these easy step by step guides to make sure everything is properly set up to get into the next phase. Which is learning how to add actual games to play!!! Hopefully. Unless that's just wishful thinking, but on to the next video!!!

      Take your time learning one emulator at a time, no sense in putting everything on it all at once until you get how to get 1 or 2 of them working.

    You should do one on MAME and sega Dreamcast. Currently having issues playing Mame games on my retro pocket plus 3

    So you don’t need a computer to set it up? That’s a big determining factor of buy or not for me.

      Nope not at all, just internet these are Android based handhelds with power to play tons of retro games/consoles and even native games.

      Hey no unfortunately none of these devices do, the only devices that may come with games are the Linux based cheaper less powerful devices. I do however have an entire playlist that helps with how to become an emulation master!

    Thank you! I had a lot of trouble setting this up until I found your videos. Will you be adding anymore videos or do you know where I can find videos on how to see up other systems, such as PC Engine, WIi, Amiga, Dreamcast, MAME, MSX and NeoGeo?

      Awesome 😎 the reason I didn't do Mame, Neo, PC Engine etc is because it's to convoluted and there isn't a straight to the point way. I got Mame working with some games but found it annoying to setup. Wii I never shared because very little amount of major games run on the 3+ model. Dreamcast I never played so didn't really share because of that reason as I couldn't think of a single game I played on Dreamcast back in the day to think of it. The guides I shared I had experience with for quite a while so that's why they were chosen.

    Great help, just ordered mine. Will I be able to use my 128gb micro sd loaded with roms or should I delete the roms before using with the rp3+?

      Glad to help you game! If you want to pre load an SD with games just make sure when you pop it in to select use as external storage to transfer files not as internal storage. Hope that helps!

      I've heard the 3+ supports Dolphin which is GameCube and Wii but I don't have the 3+ because it came out a month after I got this & my Samsung S20 FE and S22 Ultra are more powerful.

    you mention that it doesn’t play Ps2 well, do you have any recommendations for a system that can run it well?

      The 3+ is supposed to play PS2 I just never purchased one because I can't think of any games I enjoyed on the PS2 but that's just preference.

      There is a new update for the operating system which improves GC and PS2 game performance. Some of the games will remain problematic but the best you can do is search on youtube for the particular games gameplays on that device

      Hey the console itself doesn't have save states it's all about the emulation which mostly all Emulators have Save States as an option!

    It's a great video. How to set up the retro pocket 3. But my question is after you buy this and you have absolutely no ROMs where do you get ROMs and a multitude of them so you can install them onto the retroid pocket? 3.

    How do I change the language? Mine just showed up, upon launch it didn’t walk me through setup. Everything is in Japanese and I can’t find ANY guides on how to change this

      Hey, no none of these Android emulation devices come loaded with any games that is why I have an entire playlist dedicated to setting up emulators for each console which also include ways to find the games you want and need! The only device (you have to pay extra for this) that I found that has a wide library of games but the device is limited and not that amazing is the Powkiddy X55. That being said it's linux based, very clunky and I would not suggest buying one unless you want to give it to your kids as a gift. I hope this helps you decide, in my opinion get a Retroid if it's your first handheld then go from there! :D

      Yes only if you use Retroarch does it work though, I don't use Retroarch for so many buggy reasons plus I like supporting the hard work of developers that created all of the emulators I shared. Hope that helps!

    I bought a preloaded sd card. The new games don't appear (though already have platforms loaded). Not very tech savvy, any ideas?

      You would need to set up your front end I have a complete playlist to show how to do this if you already have games on an SD card.

      Hey I have an entire Playlist for multiple emulators, however the device itself will automatically map itself to most emulators by default you can set them up to fit your preferences.

      Hey it's an Android device with a controller built in, there's a ton of different types of these on the market but Retroid is one or the popular brands.

      You need to go to settings, apps, then select the app that has the onscreen overlay enabled. Hopefully this helps.

      The best SD cards are brand names like Sandisk, Samsung, Lexar, Silicon Power anything for this device with A1/V30 read/write speeds will suffice. The A2/V30 cards are the best but more price wise, so up to you most of my cards are A2/V30 now as they transfer data faster.

    Why didnt you select 3DS aswell? Because it should run 3DS game or am I wrong?

      I didn't pick 3DS for the initial setup because the 3 which was what I was using in this guide doesn't play 3DS but I do have a 3DS guide for the 3+ however I was waiting for my 3+ at the time of doing these!

      @@xernarussilber5624 if you mean without setting anything up then there isn't anything out there that does this currently at least. Even on PC you need some sort of emulation unless you just want to buy a New 2/3DS XL which can play most retro consoles including even PS ONE if hacked!

      Necessary not but helpful if you want to add a lot. I used my library I collected over the years but everything can be done on the device.

      There’s music throughout the video, if you hadn’t noticed. I want to hear what you’re saying (it’s an instruction video after all) and the music makes it more difficult to hear you. Classic RUclips mistake.
      And it’s even worse that you did it here: After all, you don’t have to worry that just your voice would be boring; it’s an instruction video! People are not going to click away because they’re not entertained enough.

    Does anyone know if these android based handhelds will run other apps like a phone or a pad does? Things like email, sovial media, shopping, videos etc...?

      Hey of course they do, however you can't make phone calls on this device in particular but there is a device that appears to have this capability currently on Indigogo called the AyaNeo Pocket Air!

      Also another tip if you're wondering they do have GApps (Google) 😁. Otherwise I wouldn't of purchased one myself being an owner of Android for over a decade I've been down the path of rooting devices, adding custom firmware etc. Hope this helps!

    I’m sorry. But since the new update. It does play ps2, cube and 3ds. Sure not the whole library but more than 50%. I would have chose many of those emulators at the beginning.

      The 3 only plays a game or 2 of these systems and it struggles. 3 + does play a good chunk of the library well. Not perfect but perfectly playable.

      @DNAMobileGaming impatiiently waiting for my 3plus in the mail 🤣. You and retro gaming corps make some awesome set up guides. Yours are definitely better for the every day man to get going quickly. His is better for using things like retroarch ( notoriously a pain to set up).

      @billweirdo9657 I'm glad to know this has been helpful to so many gamers! Russ really does an amazing job with being a reviewer/reporter I find never knew he had guides though. RetroArch is definitely a pain, the UI isn't beginner friendly to be honest but it works when you figure it out! Hopefully your P3+ shows soon, I was actually shocked with the performance it can handle.

      @johnnyharperscoutstable5386 the only way to emulate your games or roms is to download third party apps or try your hand at retroarch which is clunky but works for most retro games. Either way you still need to do this with 90% of the handhelds on the market unless you buy a Powkiddy X55 which only renders up to Playstation at low resolution.

      sorry I don't understand what you mean by this? The console requires you to download each emulator to be able to play the games you want to play I have setup an entire playlist to get these emulators running. Otherwise the console doesn't come preinstalled with any emulators due to multiple reasons. I hope this helps.@@johnnyharperscoutstable5386

      @DNAMobileGaming well there's no emulation set up. No bios etc etc. No mention of changing to 2x on PPSSPP. Wide-screen in redream. List goes on and on.

      @RickySimpkin of course there isn't none of these devices come pre-setup that is why I created an entire Playlist to help beginners set each emulator up. The big thing and reason why is because not everyone is going to want 5000 games loaded onto a device to try to search through. Not everyone is going to want to play PSP maybe some just buy this to play Gameboy, SNES, and Playstation 1. Not everyone is going to want one generic launcher that doesn't suit their needs. The list can keep going but I have a day job so I can't keep giving anymore ideas. Check my playlist it has over 15 other guides for each emulator.
