Similar to how Michael is the stereotype of a boss who has failed up, and is completely incapable of most "management level" duties. Caricatures essentially.

Being an actor is fucking amazing. Do you know how well you have to know yourself and who YOU really are and HOW you really are to do this? They stayed in another person‘s mindset and mannerisms all day for years and still are able to be themselves and have a sense of their true selves

Yes technically an adding machine is a calc, but not vice-versa. Their layout is different, they have buttons to add tax automatically, and they only have 2 decimal places with a permanent point.

This is why it worked so well ontop if the amazing acting. I originally watched it while it was on air and worked in an office that was a fake office. When I got a real office job I rewatched it over and over and over to make light of the misery that was my office job.
Its not that it was tough or back breaking to do. It was just unnecessary. Imagine that you stocked shelves and every morning you had to take everything off of the shelves and then put them back on. While not impossible or tough to do, its still unnecessary and I guarantee that workers will complain🤷🏿🤷🏿🤷🏿

The beginning of the series actually looked like it was the real deal until further down, then everything after the 3rd season it looked like a studio dressed as an office including the camera quality
I love the office, when I was in my psychology class I learned that associating something you know with the thing you just learned would help me memorize terms better for quizzes. I used the office a lot for this exact purpose. I specifically remember using kevin to remember what telegraphic speech was, “why waste time say lot words when small words do trick.” I would have never expected him to sound like this but it actually suits him.
