I'm so happy for you Adam. :) Your journey is really inspiring. I wish you all the best and all the success in this world. Your hard work paying off after you kept grinding through the difficult period of your life. Well deserved.
What a hard lot of lessons to learn! It's amazing how easily we can trap ourselves not only with debt but also with how we think others will perceive us (gotta keep up that image!). Congrats on getting this far and being able to see that light at the end of the tunnel!
Your best video - real stories, good to hear. From my point of view good to hear there are other Aussie indies succeeding in app dev. From your point of view good to put hard times behind you and have lessons learned, to have come out the other side. Apps have paid for my house I own it, no-one can take it away. But I’m working to make hay while the sun shines, one day this will stop too, every monthly Apple payment is future security and keeps me from having to slave for somebody else, I’m getting old now. Congratulations to you for reaching the stage you are at.
Thank you for putting out such great content, your story is so inspiring. I really look forward to your videos every week! Rooting for your success man, congratulations on your achievement and keep up the great work!
Congrats Adam, clearing your debt is an amazing milestone mate. Could you share more about how you're managing future FY tax payments with the ATO? Do you just withhold a % of the revenue you receive each year and use that to pay the ATO when you lodge taxes each year? Or are you paying the taxes immediately each time the app store revenue comes through?
Thanks for this video :) I got some questions: Are you from Australia? I am considering moving permanently from Germany to Australia (Queensland City) and I wonder: Is Flutter a thing in Australia? do you see more iOS oder Android devices there? Why did you decide building with Swift/SwiftUI and not crossplatform, espacially Flutter? I also want to build own apps and currently cannot decide whether to teach myself Swift/SwiftUI or Flutter :D
I have learned both Flutter and SwiftUI, in the company as employee I use both maybe one project is using flutter and another is using Swift, but I prefer SwiftUI, for my solopreneurship I think that is the best, Android market is mainly the 10-15% of earnings in a business of subscriptions. And the iOS App who make 85-90% of money is 20 times more size in mb, and 15 times more ram usage. Believe me for my decision I made the exactly same app in both technologies and this is the results. I prefer do a great native app with the best of iOS, and I'm sure that this will give me more money that if I use flutter because with native I will have more users and better earnings. (Exception: I think in a situation of freemium apps).
Nice work clearing the debt. I really appreciate your honesty in these videos. It would be much easier to just show your increasingly great numbers and make out like you had never done anything dumb in your life. Nobody would learning anything from such a bullshit story though.
Great story!
