Your refresh rate is set to 60hz not 144hz. Also you need to make sure you are in “preformance mode” on the lego for best performance, i know shocking, not just in game graphics. You are currently in balanced mode. Plus you should edit the bios to run 6gb of vram instead of 3 or 4 stock. You cant get the performance because you need to have tinker with it. Or at least move out of balanced mode. Red light preformance mode, white balanced, blue quiet. And lastly you need to set up the clock in the same way you would on any pc.
@ ok, but you are giving a “review” which you can’t accurately do if you dont know what you are doing. No where in the video did you state the reason you had performance issues because you dont know how to change the modes. Thats not “tinkering” lenovo tells you this in the set up. Tinkering would be changing the vram.

Its amazing to have this massive screen and run aaa games like ghost of tsushima in medium graphics and still get good frames. Steam deck could barely run it in low settings.
I moved from a ROG Ally to a LeGo and have no regrets. Love the bigger screen and removable controllers. I mostly use mine to play indie and AA games and they run fine at lower TDP settings. Integer scaling also means I can run them at 800p and they still look fine. My one gripe is the ergonomics - the bottom corners dig into my hands, but that was solved with some popular comfort grips from Etsy, which haven't come off my LeGo since I got them. Shout out to Steam BPM too, so much better than the stock launcher.
Here’s what I’m curious about. Can you play 2 player games and split the controllers to act like 2 different controllers like you can do on a switch? If you can’t I feel like the detachable controllers is more of a gimmick to sell the device. So happy you’re back making videos man you’re the best
Pc handhelds are marketed for more single player play unlike the switch which is also marketed as a home console. You typically don’t play split/shared screen on a pc.

No one mentions how obnoxiously loud and high-pitched the fan is, even on a custom profile. If you are not a hermit and plan to use this around other people or in public, everyone is going to hate you. The tape mod and updated shroud barely do anything to fix this.

its only an hour if you do not adjust the settings and tdp. I usually get 2 for intense games and 3 or so for indie games, long enough for most users I suspect with actual lives to live.

I recently assembled an EGPU for my Legion Go. Having a handheld PC that youre able to dock and supercharge was my goal, and its pretty awesome IMO. Also, for handheld mode i highly recommend setting the resolution to 800p and enabling integer scaling via AMD Adrenaline. Tweaking Adrenaline settings (the GPU software) is a must to get the best performance out of the device. --> The secret weapon of most Legion Go users is the Lossless Scaling app that you can get on Steam. It has frame-gen and makes the fake frames look and feel extremely smooth. I do agree that if anyone is looking for a handheld gaming device and plan on playing untethered, the ROG Ally X or Steam Deck OLED is the way to go. I decided to go with the Legion Go because I wanted a handheld PC, not a handheld gaming device.

@mattwithoutfear Im using the TH3P4G3 dock with a fully modular PSU (to minimize the wires/clutter) with an rtx4060. I figured that the Nvidia bells and whistles (DLSS 3 w/frame-gen) would make up for the 20-23% performance loss (since the EGPU uses Thunderbolt instead of Oculink), and it performs really well! Also, there's a docking case available for the TH3P4G3 EGPU to make it look a lot more presentable.
I have a Steam Deck LCD at present and I'm happy with it, but I think that if I should choose an alternative to the deck maybe I would go for a Legion Go for the bigger screen, detachable controllers and stand included. I think none of the handheld at present are perfect, they all have limitations including the Steam Deck, I usually use remote play to overcome some specs limitations and play unsupported games. Steam Deck also has a great battery life with remote play.

Hey TechSpaceCowboy, have you tried changing the amount of Vram that's used in the bios? I think they default it at 3gb and you can take it up to 6 (maybe 8?) I brought mine up and performance is noticeably better. That being said, that does make this even more of a tinkering device, which personally I'm all for but I know others aren't.

turn your power profile to custom and turn all the tdp settings to max. Also go into the bios and turn up the vram from 3g to auto or higher than 3g. you will get much better performance. But you might want to be plugged in.

If the Legion Go has the same battery and the upgraded ram like the Ally X, the Legion Go is a big no brainer. Thats why Ally X is just the better choice. I sold my Steam Deck LCD for the Ally and then sold the Ally. I'm waiting for the next generation.
I have to say this is not the handheld for you if you want minimal and light aspects in setup and portability. Recently, It took me legit hours across several days so I could setup windows/LegionSpace/other software and find accessories that make this more useful. For doing the main thing of unplugged gaming I still needed comfort grips and a slim, yet big enough battery pack to fit the pocket, so yeah pretty much still plugged in lol. Long story short, I also ended up manually installing newest amd 780m drivers and a simple gaming profile of just afmf2 frame gen paired with anti lag, has helped with smooth gaming. Once setup its all manageable and I really dig the display enough to deal with usually being plugged in some sort of way. Manage your temps and keep fan below 5.4k rpm if you can and its quieter than even the AC in your home. btw my longest battery life browsing and watching videos was just barely over 5.5 hours unplugged. Limited to Lighter workloads and it will game long enough for light sessions or be used as a windows tablet for a medium length session.
Also I did get it used and bundled with a onexgpu egpu for less than the ROG ally x new. I'm also gonna share my setup if anyone is interested in using this thing for laptopy things like docking on the go. I got foldable protoarc keyboard/mouse, one of the slimmest options. I got a pretty small jsaux dock which adds all the ports I could need and let me conveniently dock to any display so I always bring that. A Rii mini keyboard(bluetooth) with 3d printed piece I bought let me combine the controllers and altogether was great way to dock and still navigate windows or game from even a tv/couch. I can choose how much I wanna pack. If I gotta pack it all, then it takes up as much space a laptop would with a laptop bag in a sleeve and additional pouch, excluding the battery. yeah batteries always kinda gotta come with if you want more than an hour and a half "unplugged" gaming. If the plan is the "unplugged" option, I just pocket a battery and bring the legion go around in whatever fits(just detach controllers if too long). Baseus 65w battery is a good capacity and comfy in the pocket. also find a flat ribbon magnetic usb c cable, it rolls up compact to fit pocket easy too. maybe if I played indie games then I wouldnt find an issue with battery life but thats just me.

100% Agree, the boggest downside for me is the battery. Its beautiful, the display is great, bit the battery draws me out of using it 😭 I wish it was better with battery. The second thing I dont like as mich is the controllers dont really feel sturdy wish also makes me feel scared to constantly take them off die to damaging the clips that hold the controllers.
When I bought mine it was near release of the device. Perhaps they adressed this? I do not remove them much, personally I can use a third party controller and do the same 😂 I love the device overall bit battery is my biggest gripe.
I love it because it completely replaced my big pc and its portable so i can take it everywhere with me and if i want more gpu power ill just dock it at home to an external gpu plus i don't need a tablet so basically 3 devices turned into 1

This game runs zentles zone zero pc at 120 frames per second. Call of duty warzone mobile at Max settings 120 frames.

Lenovo recommends auto for Vram. My experience is that gives the best performance as the computer picks the right combo depending on what is run.

Did you change your vram from 4 to 6 or 8? It defaults to 4 for some reason, maybe see if that gives you what you are looking for.
