What Anson said is so true. There is such a thing as "finger memory". Our fingers really memorize where the keys are and whose job it is to press them when called upon. Think of tying your shoe laces. Your fingers don't need you to tell them what to do anymore. They memorized the sequence. In fact, it would slow things down if you looked and tried to tell them what to do next. Same with typing.
Same with piano. In a lot of pieces i can't play with my hands separately but i could play it with my eyes closed with both hands. The problem of that is that if you make a mistake you can't go on because you don't even know the notes anymore. So in that case muscle memory helps a lot but has also disadvantages. Not for typing tho
This is actually very helpful, I am typing like this right now and wow it slows me down. But like you said it will help in the long run, thank you so much.
@@nikalq I tried it from the moment I watched this video and I can say I’m progressing I’m at 60 wpm at the moment which is pretty shit but I’ll improve
The best thing to do is at first go slow and focus on striking the keys with the correct fingers without looking at them, then increase your speed slowly while focusing on accuracy. I have worked as a typist in one way or another for 30 years, I have reached a point where when I'm typing I can not only tell just by feel when I've made an error and correct it without looking at the keys, and when I'm typing from copy, I don't have to look away from the copy. Another tip is that unless you're taking a test when you're starting out, it's quicker to type the whole thing and go back an correct errors than it is to correct them as you go.
I can almost type without looking at the keyboard, with a typing speed of 49 words per minute. But still make a tons of mistakes so it reduces my speed to 28 words per minute. I'm gonna try this method and see if I can improve my speed and reduce mistakes.
For me it's like 8 dogs I have to learn, every time they have to go there and came back that a massive task to do now same with the typing for me, that how hard it is to type
Hi Anson, I have learned all the keys of the keyboard so I can type without seeing the keyboard already (I have to think before every key). I have a practice routine but I'm still so slow that while looking at the keyboard without any technique I'm faster(like 48 wpm). beside of learning this I am learning to code, but when I do coding I hadn't used touch typing until two days ago, but it is very annoying because I am so slow. Do you think I have to use touch typing only during my practice routine and when I become fast enough start using it for my work? What is the threshold?
I’m a beginner and I’m frustrated with my typing lessons.i stop typing for one day and I lose my progress I made ..please advise me in moving forward and give up..
