Very nice guide! Seeing guides from people that are extremely experienced is nice to see because sometimes people like you show tips that people like me could never think of
Thanks for this. I was using Keybr to learn touch typing and averaged 70 wpm over three weeks but adding real-world challenges to my typing tests with MT made me realize that I'm much slower and have much more room for improvement!
monkeytype is my go to example for a useful website with great design and UX. didn't know about the filter thing, that's awesome! i like using the 'copy missed words' after tests and just spam the missed words into a text editor, it's nicer than the monkeytype practice tool i find.
I definitely agree. I have used a combination of ChatGPT and Google Bard to create a practice set related to the medical field. Initially, I tried asking it for the top 100 words used in medical notes which didn’t work out very well, but then I asked it to create sample medical notes, then remove the capitals and punctuation, and remove filler words, such as “the and on or to…“ which worked out well.
love how this is a video made for typists by a typist, hope people start asking for guides on how to touchtype so I can slap them in the face with this video.
This is the best video I've seen about typing practice, and trust me, I've watched many - especially compared to well-known channels that will tell you "to practice a lot" in a 10-minute video. Quick question: I average 70 WPM and practice 30 mins daily on Nitrotype, seeing about 1 WPM increase monthly. Is this normal progress?
I think that’s good, normal progress. It’s important to remember progress is not linear, our average dips up and down all the time even if it’s generally trending upwards, and often times it can be very hard to see exactly how much we have improved unless we track specifics over a long time. A lot of people will say they improved their typing speed by 10wpm in a month or something but what they actually mean is they happened to get a score that was 10wpm higher than their previous best, and maybe their average has only gone up by 1 or 2 wpm in reality. As an aside, maybe practice some outside of Nitrotype, I think their system where mistakes don’t need to be backspaced encourages lower accuracy which isn’t always better for actually helping you get faster
Wow did not know monkeytype was so customizable! I'm gonna do a few runs targeting my weaknesses and continue customizing from there. Awesome video, subbed!
This might be extrapolation of information, but the most commonly missed SFBS’s seems to be weighted for the left hand. Is that just showing that more people are right handed them left handed/ambidextrous?
My list of top 10 sfbs is actually just the most common ones as they appear in typical english so if you’re going off that it then that’s not representative of people’s actual ability to type them. Also, QWERTY has more of the most common characters put on the left hand (there is about a 55/45 split on left hand vs. right hand usage) so even if you were accounting for people’s accuracy, it wouldn’t be surprising to find more mistakes on the left hand just because there are more sfbs on the left hand.
Great video, is there any special settings to improve accuracy over speed? I want to turn of my typing speed at the end. Instead I only want to see my accuracy. Can we do that? Thank you
There is no way to turn off seeing your typing speed completely but if you make sure “live wpm” is off you won’t see it during the test. If you turn on “live acc” then you can see your accuracy during the test. If you want to practice accuracy there’s also the test difficulty settings which end the test if you make a mistake, and the stop on error setting forces you to correct mistakes. You can also turn on “min acc” which will fail the test if you go below the accuracy that you set it to.
Hi the thing is that when i try to type i always miss the keys and it is very annoying and i cant type fast can u recommend any websites or methods to help me?
I would recommend just typing slower and really focusing on accuracy. If you want to learn touch typing and to be accurate at the same time then typingclub is my personal favorite. Ultimately it just comes down to practice and not rushing yourself, if you become more accurate then speed will naturally follow
You have to press Escape to get to the search bar.
I needed this. Thx bro 🙏
@@iamanidiot8624 bro this help is just aaa to me . I really needed that
or press shift + ctrl + p
Thanks bruhhh

Being a full time programmer and pro anti-grass toucher, this video seems helpful to me. Thank you
Alternative title: "How to Win Any Online Argument Using Monkeytype".
Honestly, One of the best video to come by when you are stagnating in typing
"you probably haven't noticed, because you restart every test after you make a single mistake"
😳
funny and big brain guide, I like
I only do that when bursting or trying to set a pb lol
thanks for all these sick tips! I literally had no clue the last one even existed.
This video was liquid gold - thanks so much!

Im using monkeytype since Sep’22. I didn’t know half of the stuff. Thanks!
How are you verified with 417 subscribers??
saving this for watch later because this is actually super goated advice
I can't believe there are these options. Thank you for this
using chatgpt to generate our typing tests is the future

Nooooo!
How thay will use chat gpt for a typing test?
Very useful guide, thanks for sharing. Got this video recommended on my front page :)
This is really helpful, thanks for your time to share that.
This is a great video. Monkey Type is good but a lot of cool features hind behind three layers or UI. Thanx again!
Really informative video:)
Great video, definitely will check out your other work as well!
You forgot to mention the "Toggle Monkey" setting 🍌 Watching a cute monkey typing really helps me a lot 🍌
thank you for this I'm also trying to improve my speed and just started a channel. Now my speed is around 120-130
nice vidoeoeu

Thanks for the information, been using this website for so long but didn't dig deep enough
you have a Phd on how to improve typing. so much information in just 6 minutes . thankyou for helping.
many features i wasnt aware of. Thanks
The only reason I'd heard of Julia is because my university professor mentioned it. It appears to be rather good for computational data science
Ok thanks for this guide. I really thought I was better at typing but no with the word filter I found lots of words I cannot type well. lol
Nice vid bro :)
great video!
so amini is now cmini? what is the world coming to?
idk man I don't follow the AKL lore closely enough but I'm pretty sure in 2028 it'll be zmini and I'm not sure what will happen after that
It’ll switch to the last letter of the Greek alphabet (omega) and work backwards to the first letter.
incredibly helpful, thanks
thanks it helped a lot, but may i ask whats SFBS for qwertz?
amazing
Great video, I’d been using other tools for programming languages not realising they were included!
my wps is 38 as i stopped using my pc for a while so my typing slowed down alot lol, thanks
Super useful!!
Too good..thanks broo

Thanks for sharing. Definitely going to try the 'practice words' feature ASAP!
great video thx
Please also enable numbers and punctuation.
thnak u my worm per minut is now big
How i use chatgpt in monkey type I didn't understand in this video
3 weeks back my friends were competing in typing speed and I was at 30-40wpm while trying hard. In just 3 weeks I reached 126 wpm MAX😅
Just curious.... What did you do in those 3 weeks? Coz 126 wpm is way too much bruh...😅
where can i find cmini bot
Nice video. 👍
NIce tips!

This is awesome, I had no idea that all those code languages were available. I’ve been using custom types with code not realizing it’s built in 🤦♂️
what is that theme?
Everblush
wow bro😂❤
Being a full time developer or programmer also make your typing way more faster 🤣🤣🤣
What theme u use?
In this video I'm using everblush, but I switch it up pretty regularly I wouldn't say that I have a favorite
Спасибо, хорошее видео.
Thank you bro, very helpful
😱
i've heard of code julia
why learn type fast when type limited by slow brain
06:08 didnt even notice
Julia is great
Website name
Monkeytype
Shout out to the Julia language. Am I one of the 6?
now we wait for the other 5 👀
where is this seach bar
press esc
HELP ME PLEASE I CAN"T BEAT HIM
It's not really hard like I'm a fast typer but yeah
Lmao I hate “develop”
Same. I recommend typing this the “o” with the middle and the “p” with the ring, breaking tradition
