For those who may be wondering, Shelby is considered "brain blind" - she lost her vision due to a brain injury, not due to eye issues. I lost my vision due to an eye disease, so the tissues in my eyes have died - her eyes work fine, her brain just can't understand what she's seeing, making her blind.

My brain messes up what I see as well, although nothing like as severe as Shelby's. I still have plenty of useful vision. I have visual snow, caused by a long-term migraine aura, and light can make me feel really sick. What I see is like someone turned the brightness up on an old video camera till the picture was over-exposed, then fed it into an old tv with a bunch of static, and a special effects artist doodled on the result with patches of light. Sometimes it is frustrating to know that there is nothing wrong with your eyes, it is your brain, but I imagine it is just as frustrating to know there is nothing wrong with your brain, it is just your eyes.
The other thing Shelby and I would have in common is that the changes in our vision happened suddenly, with little or no warning. Although of course her result is more drastic than mine.

Hey everyone! Thank you for the positive response! Makeup has always been something I have been obsessed with and I wasn't going to let my vision loss change that, but I haven't had much of a chance to do it on other people. Molly was very brave to let me try, eh?!
Let's start a discussion on your biggest makeup fear! As you guys may have been able to tell, doing stuff with the eyes (eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara) have always been the things I struggle with!! What about you?

I always hate doing my eyeliner,whenever I get one eye right the other one doesn't look good. hahaha
Shelby Travers I am sighted but struggle doing make up around my glasses. I can only see about 5 inches clearly without them. I have perfected the art of doing eyeshadow with glasses on.
More than once I've done my make up without glasses really close to the mirror and then put my glasses on and had to start all over.
Winged eyeliner is a wonky, wobbly, mis matched disaster.
Girl my vision is completely fine and I still can't do my eyeshadow without looking like a clown. Eyeliner alone takes me like 10 minutes and it never looks perfect.
for me it's hard to use eyeshadow and blend it in well, i wear glasses and without them i struggle a lot,even with them i struggle to see well. My problem is Keratoconus. Also i haven't use eyeliner in the last 4 years,i find it very hard. you did a great work!

Shelby's makeup is literally flawless! Her contour perfectly sculpts her cheeks and is blended so well! All the shades match so well too, from the light brown smokey eye to the red lips.

I LOVE this video! I did my first smokey eye the other day (I'm blind too) and it makes me so happy seeing others doing make up too, as there is so much misrepresentation of blind people in the media, so everyone thinks we can't do our make up. :)

Shelby Travers it was so hard; I had to redo it four times! But in the end I had a gorgeous teal and black smokey eye. However, I'd absolutely LOVE to swap make up tips with you. Although I'm a bit younger than you, I went blind at 14 too, weird isn't it?!
Look at all of us makeup loving girls who go blind at 14!! Something must be in the water! It just proves that all these stigmas are so outdated and false! That sounds like such a beautiful look you were able to achieve. It seems like you, Molly, I have very similar makeup tips...try, try and try again! Lol!

"How do you do lipstick?" Have people that say that never put on chapstick or anything without looking? It's amazing how many things I do without looking, and I think I notice it more after watching some of your videos, especially one where you were talking about sometimes it's more efficient not to look.
Depends on the shape of your lips. If you have thin or not much cupid's bow then yeah you can definatly do it without sight but if you have fuller lips or high cupid's bow then it's more challenging (just a little)
Putting on Chapstick is not exactly the same as putting on lipstick. I can put on Chapstick without looking, but lipstick has more pigment in it, so I need a mirror for more precision so my lips don't look like a splotch.

this is why I love makeup: it's universal. You could be a girl who lost her sight at 14, or a man who has discovered a love for smokey eye, or any other person, gender, or ability.

I love narration as a sighted person. It’s soothing for my anxiety, and also because I like to cross stitch while I watch RUclips videos, so my eyes aren’t always on the screen.
And, now, having finished the video, two thoughts; You two clearly have a lovely friendship and I’d be so excited to meet either of you someday, and WOW you did an amazing job on her makeup! I love the trust between you two. Keep being awesome women.

I love how Molly does her own make up. Still, like y'all said, doing someone else's make up is hard, even sighted so with that in mind she did a good job!

Do more videos with her. The makeup was good but I would've used different colors for the eye makeup because they were really light and didn't go with your lip color but I was impressed. I couldn't do makeup that good even with sight so haha.
She did an amazing job and didn’t take long at all! The only difference I seen was the lipsticks were different colors but the pink on your lips matched your scarf perfectly!

Her application of your make up was really good! As she stated, she was using make up and colours that she is used to using and it definitely suits her hair colour better than yours (her hair is brown / blonde). Aside from that, it was awesome 😊
The lip is beautiful and I love how vibrant it is! I don't like the undereye shadow but that's more of a preference rather than an opinion on skill. It's so cool how talented and motivated you both are!

thats pinkish lip color looks really good on you! it compliments your skin tone and i think its a good color for spring & summer. The only thing i would have added was eyeliner on the top & bottom of your eyes and maybe put on false eyelashes.
I don't know why it is so surprising to see a blind person doing makeup, but you both do so well! It's better than some sighted people I've seen!

I’ve also used a wet to dry shadow and you just tap it on to your lead that also works really well. The ones I used to get came in a tube.

this was so cool! i fail almost always on doing makeup on others, and i'm beyond impressed that shelby's first attempt at doing someone else's makeup went so well and turned out so pretty! and that cool discussion on drag culture and how it's become an aspect of popular culture was so awesome and interesting, i think about that too sometimes!

I would say that Shelby had perfect placement of the lights and shades on your face. The only (tiny, so tiny) place where she could go slightly better is to use cooler tones on you. All the colours she chose went beautifully together and looked really good, they were just a touch warmer browner/peacher than your natural undertones. It wasn't heaps to warm though, so if I hadn't seen you without makeup or with your own makeup I wouldn't have noticed I think, it didn't clash with your neck or anything.
Another way to look at it is that the pallette she chose for you would be a good one to warm you up slightly if you were wearing a warmer toned top or something.

i felt like bangs change the shape of your face so much (i'm brand new so like the first videos i've seen you didn't have bangs and i just clicked on the video and you loooked like a different person- but also your hair was down so it was two different looks in one that i had not seen) im binge watching this as i wait for my sheets to be clean so i can go to bed cause it's a bad health day. in this video with you having your hair down and with bangs you lookn much more like shelby but with a a narrower face but the bangs make it look shorter? but with that hair style you look much more like sisters
