Smyly is a 3 era SP the 1st half every year. Toast after that but that's useful. Tailion had a 3.03 Era his last 15 games so hopefully he stays there. 💯⚾ Wicks and Assad should get every chance to win those jobs, they would be +1 inning guys in my Bullpen if they didn't and someone would replace atleast Smyly at some point. (Wicks). Know this pry sounds crazy, 😂😂😂, maybe it is, but Smyly is always a good SP to begin the year and i think we should use that.
There really isn't much in this Bullpen. Rossy had nothing. We could be up 7 runs down the stretch. Ross had nothing because we was supposed to spend this off-season 😢💯🤷🏻🤔🤔🤔🤔
Counsell wasn’t supposed to have a bullpen either beyond Devin Williams but look how that turned out. People talk about Ross like he was a good manager, he wasn’t, he was awful!
People need to do a little research before posting about the pen and hitters striking out. Too much recency bias. Cubs bullpen had the 13th ranked ERA last season. During the month of September, it was the 11th best ERA in baseball. What killed them was 15 unearned runs in September. The Cubs were 17th in strike outs while they were 12th in total ABs. They had the 10th lowest K rate with RISP. Their walk rate was 8th best. They were even 13th in SLG. It was just unfortunately a month where everything went just bad enough and just the wrong times that they missed out. While they still need Bellinger back, doing so along with the much greater defined roles for everyone has this team in a much better place for 2024. That said, I'd love to see Hader in the pen and put the division on lock down barring injury.
Aldozay could be a good setup man. He's not our Closer. Mayweather shouldn't be relied upon beyond the 6th, none of these guys should. So not only do we need a Closer, but we need another decent bullpen arm or 2 that can Win the 7th inning.
If they get one VERY reliable 8th inning guy or closer, this bullpen has a much different and improved look. Only takes one. Also, I think Luke Little will be a beast this year
@@SetupManCubs Rookie Bullpen are usually up and down. He will pry give us a push and then fall off. Wicks and Assad may both be in the Bullpen to start the year tho and both are 2inning+ BP arms. Weisneski I think can take a leap. But no man, this bullpen is why we lost last year. We could be up 7 runs and Rossy knew they was gonna blow it. I ain't saying we need 100mil Heyder, but Chapman? A Vet Closer the other guys can learn off.
@@toddwarring9782 yes, he’s was solid. And if he’s the closer, I think we will be fine. But the small sample size and the fatigue leaves question marks
If we had players who can hit .300+, have high OBP, excellent bat to ball skills, and low k rates, bunting wouldn’t even be part of the equation. We K waaaaaaay too much!

I think in the hands of a good manager Smyly can break a valuable weapon out of the pen
@@toddwarring9782 Maybe, he should be, but I'm just pointing out where he's had success before. But yeah maybe he wouldn't burn out halfway.
@@toddwarring9782 you a sick individual
Jeb needs to bite the bullet and get Hader. We need a proven closer
We will see. That's going to be an expensive move

It really was a "perfect storm" month. But even if they made it to the playoffs, the bullpen wasn't healthy enough for them to make a serious run

Alzolay saved like 20 some games in a row last year and other than Bellinger was the reason the cubs surged in the second half

So MasterBoney and Wisdom have been traded? Best players gonna play, those guys should be traded 🤷🏻
