It took me ages to find this vca compressor. I hesitated with the titan , the ssl and the smart c1. I really like the release of this one, very natural. It also gives a nice crunch when pushed. I use it mainly on my mix bus with a gyratec g10. It helps to have way less compression on tracks and stems when having this on the mix bus. It is also built to perfection. I also have the vertigo plug in but this hardware provides something I can’t find in the box . Amazing tool.
I discovered that Vertigo Sound has made a VSC-3 plugin. I really really love that plugin. The best sounding compressor plugin I have ever used. I don't know how it compares with the VSC-2 plugin by Plugin Alliance. I have no demo left. But I don't expect it to sound better then the VSC-3 plugin. 🤔
Looking for my first high end mastering compressor - this vs. SPL Iron - What to think about? What are the differences for you and why did you choose SPL IRON? It seems to me that the Iron has more heft and color, and more features with the air bass etc. I would from what I have heard its more at home in dance music and modern pop/hip hop? The Vertigo is very clean and transparent which should be good for everything? I have a Dione for VCA so far but looking for the main Mastering Comp. Any other contenders in this price range you would recommend looking at? Thank you!
It would add a really nice clean transparent compressor to the chain. It doesn't do anything that is unique to jut this compressor necessarily. But it will something great to that list.
I believe the vertigo has a certain effect, which I like , and I'm saying this only by experiencing the plugin , for mastering. The whole mix gets a certain typer of mastering glue, I think it has a signature sound to it, acertain type of glue, quad-vca describes it well. I wouldn't just buy it if I didn't know the effect exactly. The transients are VCA and immediate and clean, it's the release on this compressor that makes it. But, who am I, I've only used the demo, but I remember this one.
It's not comparable to the Tegeler...because it REALLY sounds "on a different planet"... (you won't lose anything compared to the original signal, but will win a lot what makes it sounding better and nobler)! And if you feel the quality, for example, of the metal knobs etc. (and there are ALPS potentiometers behind them in part), and see the intricate finish of the front panel, then you will be reaffirmed in your decision.
Yes for compression but no for the unique purpose of the SFE option with the Portico 2. There's a reason I have a Portico 2 in every studio. But don't buy it as a compressor. The compressor isn't all that great compared to other compressors such as the VSC-3
@@AudioAnimalsStudio you are right I got the MBP and about to buy the Vertigo Vsc3 was also have the on the moon spacecraft from Mathew Lane and now i will see if i will see the MBP and keep the On the Moon spacecraft its a mid side processor that has inserts
Hey, I mix mainly hip hop, trap and r&b music. Which compressor would you recommend for the mixbus? I’m puzzled, not sure which is best for me. I have a Lynx aurora n ad/da converter, and a buzz audio mea eq. I’m looking forward to purchasing my first mix bus compressor. Could you help me sir.
Just got the Vertigo Vsc 3 in and its in mid side mode going into my On The Moon Spacecraft mid side processor by Mathew Lane and the 2 which does cost more than The MBP I sold are insanely amazing together the song sounds finished
@@TheBumblebee84 most definitely I feel like its the best for jazz and acoustic music it does introduce a little noise at certain levels but the noise is analog analogy if thats a word...the MBP is more narrower it can not stretch further in the stereo field than the Spacecraft
11:35 The saxophone part sounded very smooth; controlled yet expressive.

I said the exact same thing when talking to someone earlier about the release of it. I particularly liked it over drums. The build quality is amazing.
for couple of projects I tracked bass and cello through this and it knocked my socks off
Is the popping when you switch the bypass in and out normal?
Peak / Rms is not for the metering but for the detection @ 4min 35
Great video .
i used it in rms detection mode for tracking cello and it sounds amazing

I'd recommend the iron. It's a brilliant all round compressor. Works with everything. Can do heavy compression or subtle. Very versatile.
I have the Bettermaker, Neve MBP and Tegeler SKM for mastering. Would this add something to it?

Wow. No kidding, that’s the best compressor I’ve ever heard. My goodness.
I would say best compressor in it's price range.
Would you choose this over the Rupert Neve Master Buss Processor

The Eylsia Alpha Compressor would be a really good fit.
Thank you!! I’m gonna bite the bullet and get me one. Love the plug-in, pretty sure I will love the analog unit.
that sounds fantastic ! and you say the elysia is even better ? can you do a demo of that please
Yes the Alpha is an incredible sounding compressor. I will get round to reviewing this soon.
Dangerous Compressor or do you prefer The VSC-3 for mix buss?

would you recommend On The Moon Spacecraft for genres like jazz and acoustic orchestral instruments?

I thought that was my phone at first ;)
