  • In this video I review the SPL Iron compressor. An exceptionally good compressor that sounds as good as it looks. With lots of additional features that makes this compressor highly unique.

    Honestly, you can find the best audio examples here. I’m looking to buy an APB because of this channel. 🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️ this is getting expensive 😂😂😂

    It's interesting you like this iron but not the iron comp of the MBP. Can you share why you prefer this cono over the RND?

    Hello!
    First of all, BIG thanks for all your videos, most of them are very useful!! (True)
    My question is: when you do a mastering work, with this, do u use the Airbass thing?
    It don't change the EQ and the customer would dislike it??
    And this thing, add some db?
    Sorry for my silly question!
    (I'm really thinking of buying one of these, in hardware hehehe (you "made me" buy the Bus+, now the Iron hehehe) big thanks !

      I don't use the airbass too much. I find it is better to achieve the bump in the low and high end using EQ as I have far more control over it.

    Hello,
    I have spl iron and my vu meters are not calibrated, I want to calibrate. Is there any other calibration trim apart from my front trims?

    Would the SPL Iron or the Manely vari mu would be better as a all-rounder mastering? Thanks.

    Did it replace the Elysia Alpha in your chain?

    • @AudioAnimalsStudio
      @AudioAnimalsStudio  6 месяцев назад +1

      The Elysia Alpha is in Studio A. The SPL iron is in Studio B.

    thanks for the video, in regards to the SPL have you ahad a chance to a/b to an Unfairchild or DW Fearn VT-7 or an Elysia master comp? Im in the market to get one for my st bus and I dont have the capabilities to A/B any of the mentioned. Thought I would ask. Thanks

    • @AudioAnimalsStudio
      @AudioAnimalsStudio  10 месяцев назад +1

      I have compared them all but the DW Fearn. The iron is inspired on a fairchild but it isn't a fairchild. All have their own unique sound. I think the only way to answer this 100% is to do a shootout video comparing them.

    Is this overkill for mix buss or a good choice?

    • @AudioAnimalsStudio
      @AudioAnimalsStudio  7 месяцев назад

      expensive for the mix bus yes, but certainly not overkill.

    • @TheDukeOfBlues
      @TheDukeOfBlues 5 месяцев назад

      @@AudioAnimalsStudio what's the difference between mix bus and mastering bus? and does it make sense to use the iron for drums too? (kick, snare, bus)?

    • @AudioAnimalsStudio
      @AudioAnimalsStudio  5 месяцев назад

      @TheDukeOfBlues technically speaking the same thing. Mix bus more refers to the mix prior to mastering. Processing over a mix bus such as adding a g bus comp to glue the mix together before printing the mix for mastering.

      @@AudioAnimalsStudio but I could do a lot more with the iron or e.g. the alpha? so i'd only need one compressor for all?

    Is this compressor suitable for EDM/Trance (mixbus)? I am thinking of replacing my Thermionic Phoenix with the Iron. Or does any other compressor comes to mind for this type of music?

    • @AudioAnimalsStudio
      @AudioAnimalsStudio  2 года назад +2

      The iron is really great over EDM. One of my favourite compressors for EDM.

    • @perriergrey
      @perriergrey Год назад +1

      Not to put words in anyone’s mouth, but it does a fantastic job of smoothing out harshness. If much of the genre is crisp and usually a little brittle, the Iron is able to tame the top and maintain or enhance the bottom end.

    • @Rhuggins
      @Rhuggins 9 месяцев назад

      why switch out the thermionic?
