  • In an ideal world, we're going to see INEOS spend big and effectively in the transfer market, with the intention of making Manchester United a dynasty in European Football once again. There's not been much indication of the names that United are looking at, but what's certain is we need good ones. Theoretically, let's say INEOS had £250 million that they could put down and say will kick off the rebuild. We have to be sure of the signings that we decide to make. Quality, potential, price and whether or not the player is suited to the manager's style of play are the main considerations we'll be looking at before bringing a player in. There's a lot to unpack. It won't be easy. Selling players will be an important part of it too, I'm sure that £250 million won't come solely out of INEOS' pockets, we'll have to sell some big names in-order to keep the finances in check. Let's get stuck in and look at what I'd do with INEOS' £250 million pound transfer budget...

We can just imagine how well off we would be if the Greenwood situation hadn't happened. Majority United fans would love to bring him back (for his performances on pitch and excluding off pitch reasons). We could have saved all the money on Antony, Mason would have more G/A than him and by this time, we could have surely bought atleast 2 useful players in those €100M. To think of it, you can just feel helpless.
Over these years, we have made a mockery of the money. We actually deserve some FFP restrictions so that we abstain from expensive signings and actually scout and monitor good players in that under €30M range.

Granted he’s only played a handful of minutes but from what I’ve seen I think Kambwala could turn out pretty decent, especially being able to learn from someone like Varane for a couple of years. I’d like to see us back our youth a bit more, recent buys have hindered growth prospects for youth team quite a bit and I’d like to see people like Dan Gore and Kambwala getting a better look in rather than us just looking at prospects from other countries

This might be controversial but I wouldn't sign a RW player this summer. Sancho will 100% leave, as will Greenwood. I can't see the club finding a buyer for Antony without the club taking a massive hit which would negatively impact FFP for us.
Garnacho has shown in the last couple of games that he might be able to grow into that RW spot, we also have Amad who hopefully we can get a good look at over the rest of the season. So we already have two talented young players in that position. Both Mount and Bruno can do a job there and Antony will likely still be kicking around. So that's 5 players in the first team squad who can play there. If we sign Frimpong then he's more than capable of playing as a RW as well as a RB or RWB. So that could be a 6th option in the first team squad.
Signing a young player like Bardghji sounds like an exciting idea, but he's just two years older than Shea Lacey who looks like he could be a generational talent. I'd be tempted to see how Garnacho and Amad do over the next season or so while we could have Bruno, Mount or Frimpong offer more experienced options if needed while Lacey grows and becomes ready to start making his way into the first team.
Personally I'd much rather bring in an extra midfielder or CB and strengthen the spine of the team than a RW player this summer. We've seen how an injury to Martinez has massively weakened our defence. While Mainoo is our best and possibly our only first team quality deeper midfielder. We need at least two CB's and two deeper (No.6 and No.8) midfielders this summer. Along with Frimpong at RB and a ST to cover for and offer competition to Højlund. Those are the six players we should be looking to sign as a priority.

Very good take I liked everything you said apart from Bruno in the right wing

    • @Shappy86
      @Shappy86 3 месяца назад

@@warrendawson8996 In a possession based side I think Bruno would work very well starting on the RW, especially if we have someone like Frimpong overlapping allowing Bruno to drift in to the inside right channel. His tendency to always look for the killer ball is more of a wide player trait, where giving the ball away higher and wider is less dangerous than centrally and deeper. He would also help by coming in and forming a box midfield with the double pivot and the No.10 when in possession. Think of it more like a front five of Rashford or Garnacho on the left, Mount, Hojlund, Bruno and Frimpong. You then have Shaw form part of a back three, with Martinez in the middle and Todibo on the right, with a strong, energetic, and technically gifted double pivot in front of them. Think of Bruno playing RW like an upgraded version of Dusan Tadic for EtH's Ajax. A player who starts wider and stays there out of possession, but once the team has the ball they tuck in field and have a full back play the wider role. I think it would make the most of Bruno's creativity, while limiting the issue of him giving the ball away in dangerous areas. The problem with Bruno isn't that he gives the ball away as such, it's that he is the only player trying to create for us. Which means he gets marked and crowded out more as teams know he's the only threat. With him starting RW, when we have the ball and he tucks in then the full back either has to pick him up leaving Frimpong free on the overlap, or the CB has to pick him up leaving Hojlund one on one with the other CB while the other full back has to decide whether to pick up Rashford or Mount. Meaning one of Bruno, Mount, Rashford/Garnacho or Frimpong is always free, while one of the midfield double pivot can also advance into space if one of the opposition drops to pick up the spare man. With Martinez stepping forward to keep the double pivot and Onana being the sweeper keeper if caught on the break, but with quick and mobile players like Shaw and Todibo back there we have players who can handle a quick counter as they will likely only be up against one player as the rest have had to drop back to mark up our players.

rasmus højland had a market value of 40m.. united for ahead and pay 75m for him

Disregarding the speculation what I will say is AWB to me is on the way to world class, his attacking has improved 10 fold, Hojlund WILL be a great striker for us, Amhad and Pellistri look good to me, they just need to mature. I don't think we need to pay for players in their positions except obviously another striker

I don't think that we'll have 250mil to spend in the summer. Unless there's a fair number of outgoings, we'll probably be constrained by our FFP situation.
But in terms of central defenders, I wonder how much Diomande would cost. Would he fit in? Is he good enough? Who knows?

If anyone among Sancho, Maguire, Evans, McTominay, Martial manages to stay beyond the summer, it is a failure of a transfer window, even if bring good players in

The talk of us buying Frimpong does not make any sense. With Dalot playing out of his skin at the moment I see no reason why we would want to waste £50M on somebody that we don't need and who plays as a wing-back rather than a traditional RB.
IMO the three critical positions that need strengthening are at CB, CDM and a striker (who can play across the front line).
But our main priority must be to get dead-wood out of the door and to free up a pathway for our promising academy players.

Sancho (£30-35M), Antony (£25-30M), AWB (£15-20M), McTominay (£20-30M) and Maguire (£15-25M). These are the realistic prices but I wouldn't complain even if we get less. That's how bad our selling structure is. We have to raise atleast £80M in total in the summer else one expensive signing is all we can afford. Even if we don't get the desired money in, there have to be 6-7 exits in the summer, a half clearout. Sancho, Maguire, Evans, Martial, McTominay just have to leave.
Get 2-3 young promising players (like Redondo mentioned) and maybe 1-2 solid experienced players aged 25-30 (Rabiot etc etc). No expensive signings please.

All depends on what happens with Ten Hag. He could yet be replaced. Dan Ashworth & Paul Mitchell along with Omar Berrada will be massive for us where we'll recruit far more smartly & efficiently. I can see a few youth players like Gore, Amad, Lacey, Jack Fletcher, Wheatley, Fitzgerald, Kambwala, Amaas etc all coming through that should be given more oppertunities or promoted. Bring Greenwood back whilst I can see INEOS recruiting more home grown players with players like Olise & Branthwaite at the top of the list. Todibo & Thuram from Nice could be strong options while we either sign Amrabat permanently or look to sign Redondo or Onana. I can see us getting rid of a few of our highest earners like Casemiro, Sancho, Varane, Martial, Antony, Maguire etc while the likes of Lindelof, McTominay, Eriksen could all leave aswell. Time will tell

If I were Ineos, I’m not sure I’d trust £250m in one go to the current fella. Whether they want the manager or not, aside from Martinez, his choices have been.. let’s just say “not great”. I’d maybe give him £100m and see what he does with it and not throw it all away in one go.

FFP is changing next season from losses to a squad wage of no more than 90% of turnover, with this decreasing to 70% in subsequent seasons. This is why we’re getting the high earners off the wage bill, so the likes of Sancho, varane, Casemiro, martial, Maguire etc. will be gone in the summer. I can actually see us spending more than £250 million, but the players being on more sensible salaries, with at least 2 of the incomings being centre backs.

Sane is magnificent l, but i hope we won't sign anybody over 50-60m for a while. I think the chances of being a flop greatly increase weirdly enough when you spend mega bucks because you couldn't be arsed making smart signings. The turnover we need, his fee could get us two players.
