I like Onana, I'm just not quite convinced he has the on the ball quality that his price tag would really demand of him. For a similar or possibly cheaper price we could get Florentino Luis from Benfica. The guy who has been the foil for both Enzo Fernandez and now João Neves to showcase their skills. He shields the defence effectively, fills in the gaps in midfield allowing his midfield partner to roam where needed, and has the ability on the ball to actually be a bit of a playmaker. A slightly cheaper option but with a similar profile could be Mohamed Camara from Monaco, who this season has given Fofana the licence to get forward and show a more offensive side to his game.
I think the English press specifically are overly drawn to a certain type of all actions or goal scoring midfielder. It's easy to spot and easy to write about. However, what United needs is that facilitator midfielder. Not the guy you notice because they are spraying 60 yard passes, or crunching into last ditch tackles, or scoring screamers from 35 yards. We need a Carrick type player, the guy who'll quietly do the jobs in midfield that enable everyone else to play 10-20% better. The facilitator, the midfield foil.
Could Onana be that player? Maybe, I'm just not sure we have seen him play that way or show enough technical quality on the ball for a top side to justify spending the 60-70m it would likely cost to sign him. For 45-50m then absolutely snap him up for what he has shown and his EPL proven status. You can take a little gamble at that price that he could develop that more technical side of his game.
One of the biggest errors United have consistently made in the past decade or more is they sign players who are playing well in a totally different system or style of play to what United play. They then struggle to replicate their previous form in the new system. Sancho is a prime example, a player who excelled in a high pressing team where players played in close proximity to each other. He then moved to United that didn't press high and where players played in bigger spaces on their own. Suddenly Sancho is 30 yards deeper and 10 yards wider when he gets the ball, and is expected to beat at least one player on his own and make up those 30-40 yards. We didn't get Dortmund form Sancho because we don't play like Dortmund.
For me that's a concern with signing Onana, he plays for a transitional Everton side who don't play with the ball. Which automatically raises the question of how would he play in a more ball dominant, possession based side. Currently there is no evidence to suggest he would thrive in that system, unlike a player like Florentino Luis who has played in that style or Mohamed Camara who has also excelled in a more possession controlled side. While they haven't proven themselves in the EPL they have proven themselves playing for a side that plays a similar style to what we want to play, for me that is far more important.

2.) His interceptions are the lowest of all his defensive metrics so look at them yourself. He ranks only in the 45th percentile.

We have lacked a strong and disciplined ball winning midfielder for a long time, when Casemiro joined he instantly transformed us as a team, we looked a lot more structured and confident in midfield. If we replace him with a young ball winning DM our midfield might be set for years with Mainoo and Mount

Just Sign Martin Zubimendi as Casemiro replacement. He is a top player with good technical skills. We need a player similar to Carrick and Busquets.
To replace Casemiro & Eriksen its about scouting well & depends on what INEOS prefer to recruit players from. If we wanna sign proven Premier League players theres some pretty good options out there
Joao Gomes from Wolves to replace Casemiro & Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester to replace Eriksen would be ideal.

to be dominant team i think we dont really need sole destroyer, i feel like we need someone more like Carrick, Bosquet, or Rodri or if there is no one that available on single pivot, play someone who can play with Mainoo. i rarely disagree with your video but with your set up we will play like old united that doing atk from wing. if we want to play with 60-70% possession every game i feel like we need to lessen on playing around Bruno.
You are not wrong but technically Onana is not that bad i think rice is not better than him technically but he made Arsenal better. I like the team you've made with the diamond, it plays to our strengths, as we don't have good wingers, Garnacho can play in place of Rashford and Mount as a more offensive option instead of Onana or Mainoo
I also feel a diamond formation would be good. My choice for long term 4 men diamond for next 10 years : Onana, Mainoo, Andre Trindade and Joao Neves. But that would mean we need to choose 2 front men who can shift to winger and centre forward positions whenever the team shifts sides in the pitch. At the moment maybe Hojlind Garnacho. There would be many forward men on the bench in this scenario.

This summer i think ManUtd will go big on one CM player most likely João Neves to play along with Mainoo n Bruno.
Look for free transfers or low profile signing to cover for that CDM player. Most likely Ndidi from Leicester city. His deal end this summer n maybe available as free transfer.
Will try to sell Casemiro, DvB, Mejbri. Will keep Eriksen for 1 more year as someone from whom Youngsters like Gore, Fletcher would learn from and he can still control games against FA cup or league cup opponents.
If we are going to sell Eriksen too then we must go n try Kroos on free transfer for 1yr with 300k per week contract. He will immediately lift our midfield quality.

I do not like Amadou Onana as much as you do. Basically an upgrade on McSauce because of his positional awareness is good. Their technique is not that different from each other. Also both incredibly clumsy.
My solution:
Weiffer of Feynoord is an all action physical monster. Good tackler good progressor good passer. This guy does everything. Can play 8 or 6.
Kephren Thuram in the double pivot with Mainoo suits perfectly. Nice passer and physically good. Progressor at the highest level.
Dewsbury Hall is free. Get as Eriksen replacement. Deep lying playmaker and rotation option not starter material now.
Total cost 65-75 mil.
Their technique is completely to each other. They aren’t even the same of central midfielder. McTominay is more of a second striker, box crashing midfielder whilst Onana is a ball winner.
Weiffer is good but Onana is better.
Khrphrem Thuram is not it. He’s declined this season. I think going for hipster choices but Onana is a much safer and more reliable option which is what United need

Real Madrid sold United a 30 year-old Casemiro for £60 million then bought Bellingham for £88million. Your right about getting rid of Casemiro, Eriksen and Bruno. Not sure about getting rid of McTominay as he's a good squad player who gives 100% gets goals and is still quite young.
Call me crazy but i think the real issue united have is bruno..yes he creates chances (most of them are just counter attacking chances) but he also loses the ball way too often than a midfielder should which puts united in a precarious situation every time,performs poorly against teams that seats back,almost never has the intelligence to work in tight spaces than say an odegaard would..united need an intelligent,technical,fast,strong and decisive player in the attacking midfield

i've been a fan of onana since he came into the premier league. still developing in many areas (physically the past year his body has looked different), so not a finished product yet, so any deficiencies may be improved upon. his best attribute for this team is his space eating ability in my opinion so i think it may be a good fit. i also think the mason mount experiment has barely begun, and they are likely to return to it again when he's healthy to get him to help out against the press in midfield and to be the conduit for quick ball progression through passing and carrying. i will entertain the idea of giving him opportunities like kai havertz did in arsenal this season to see where he fits best.

I like the concept but we need someone else with more athleticism in midfield with the same profile as Garcia he's 5ft 7 and the midfield would be an issue if Onana gets Injured for example.

Nah Onana has a lot more potential. Andre will take a season or two too adapt to European football. Onana already is a physical monster and defensively is far superior to Andre. Andre is too similar to Mainoo.

Onana is defo a good passer. Thuram has tailed off massively this season. Struggled to establish himself in Nice’s first team. Onana is a better passer than Thuram and Kamara

I would be willing to pay 60-70m for Kamara rather than Onana. Onana is not the type of player United should go after if we want to play on the front foot and control the game. Kamara is my 1st option and Joao Gomes is my 2nd option. You right about Thuram though, this season is not that great for him statwise

Going into the new season with Bruno is stagnant. He need a new attacking midfielder that’s an upgrade from Bruno, who has been extremely inconsistent since 2022 and declining every year.

There are options out there just like Palmer is having a breakout season, there are kids or less known players waiting to breakout. Football will move forward even after Bruno

He is a volume player, doesn’t create clear-cuts chances often enough, can’t carry, turns over, can’t control the game, loses his cool too easily, and most importantly he doesn’t perform in big matches.
There’s no best player/creator in the world that can’t perform in a couple of important/big games. We’ll see what INEOS does this summer.

Honestly I dont know how do these people value our players. Pellistri 7 million, Mctominay for 35 mil, Sancho for 35 and Mejbri for 10. If we were to buy 32 year old Schar we would have to pay 40 million. Sancho is supposedly one of the best dortmund players, Mctominay is the best Scottish player and Pelistri and Mejbri are 20ish year old players who have played for United. We bought Mount off of the one good season he has had two seasons ago for 60 million, but Mctominays season like this is 35 mil. Then trandjumping onto a player like Onana…

I dont understand how are these players vauled so low. Mctominay is not good enough for Manchester United but he would do wonders in teams that are ranked below us. Same goes for Sancho, Mejbri and Pelistri. Look at the players like Elanga and Mengi. They are thriving in their respective clubs but we sold them for peanuts whilst City sells their youngsters like Trafford and the rest for a lot more money. Players who come thru our ranks should be valued more because of that. We have lowered the bar so much ourselves.
The Onana thing, I honestly dont see him as a long term solution. We will pay 70 or more millions for a player in a struggling Everton. The pressure is much higher in manchester and the play style is much different.
