    Elmers glue also works and doesn’t discolor the fabric. I have used it in quilting to tack fabrics together prior to quilting.

      27 quilts! That's awesome! I love to make quilts. I sort of rotate my hobbies, so I am still making quilts. Every now and then I will share one on here, but they are hard to film. :-) I know several people who have moved from quilts to journals. I'm not sure what it is, but the allure of journal making is quite strong. And satisfying. I absolutely love it. I wish you good luck. I have a play list on some embroidery stitches (and you can find lots of other YT videos and channels on how to make certain embroidery stitches) but just know that "slow stitching" does not require a lot of accuracy. Here's a link to a journal cover that I did. Maybe it'll give you some ideas: ruclips.net/video/hEFhkwvGdFU/видео.html

    • @sparrowhawkerdesigns
      @sparrowhawkerdesigns  3 года назад

      You can either put a quilter's sleeve on the back (google out to make a sleeve for a quilt). On smaller quilts I use those plastic knitting circles and baste them on the back and then hang them on a nail. Have fun!!! xo

    Your slow stitching is a work of Art. So beautiful Lauretta! Can you tell me what “in the ditch” means? Is that where the blocks are stitched together? Your wall hanging is jus amazing! Thank you so much for participating today. 💖

    • @sparrowhawkerdesigns
      @sparrowhawkerdesigns  3 года назад +1

      Thank you, Susan. Yes "stitch in the ditch" is a quilters term. It means to quilt where the pieces are joined. In my case on this piece, I'm stitching in the ditch where I joined the six blocks. Other than that, I'm loosely quilting around some of the other items, wherever I think I can hide or disguise my stitches so that they don't take away from the embroidery. Thank you for inviting me to participate today! xo

    I have been searching but can't find the video where you sewed the blocks together. Help!

    • @sparrowhawkerdesigns
      @sparrowhawkerdesigns  Год назад

      I don't have a video where I sewed the blocks together. When you decorate your blocks just make sure you keep your stitches etc about 1/4 to a 1/2 inch away from the edge. Then you just take two blocks and lay them right sides together and sew along one edge and sew them together. You can either use a machine or a long running stitch by hand. I had six blocks, so once two of them were sewn together, I added the third in the same way. So then I have one row finished. Then I repeated these steps for the second row: sew two blocks together, add the third. Then I sewed the top row to the bottom row. Then if you want, you can go back and add things to cover up the seams like laces, trims, appliques or stitches. If you don't mind having the blocked look then you don't have to add anything to your piece at all. I will try and demonstrate this in an upcoming video for you. It might be a few days until I get it up, so hit the notification bell so that you'll know when I post it. Thank you! xo
