      Omg. I hated being a PCT. I was one in ICU and lord have mercy on my sole. My first night a patient died and doing the cleaning and tagging and pics and Morgue work was a lot. I’m in my last semester of Healthcare Administration and just found another job at another hospital that is more aligned with my major and I’m so happy now. Great video. !!!!

    It's no joke working in hospital directly with patients and families. Time helps you process and deal with these tragic circumstances and you become a stronger person and professional because of it. It's not for everyone but for those who can stick it out are challenged and rewarded daily.

    Bless her sweet heart...it takes an extremely caring and passionate and loving tech for her job. I always knew death was unavoidable in healthcare but this video is truly eye opening for me. I haven’t experienced a death yet and I’m really trying to prep myself for when it does happen...God forbid. But like she said, to add the aspect of a child in to the mix, man..😭

  • @cristinapham949

    I'm very grateful for this video! I am about to have a interview with Pediatric Surgeon as a PCT and I was starting to self-doubt myself just because I know I might have to deal with death of children. The way she put it made me change my whole perspective on the situation. Just because I have had a miscarriage before and had picture taken of my child and never really put much thought into who cared for my dead baby and cleaned him up so nice to take pictures. It made me feel better I had something of him to hold on too. Now that gives me more strength and another reason to accept this path (God willing) I want to be able to pass that comfort and peace on to others in need.
    So, thank you and thanks to your guest. This came at a perfect moment!

    Never thought about it like that. Secondary trauma! Now that I think about it, you are unloading some deep info onto someone who handles things differently. Kind of like being a cop or detective and coming home to unload what you witness onto them. This is a great vid to gain perspective. Keep them coming!

    • @yourfavnurseb9699
      @yourfavnurseb9699  5 лет назад +5

      Yea, I didn’t think or look at it that way until she said something. That’s why it’s good to have a support system or network with others in your field. That way you can speak with like minded people

      @@yourfavnurseb9699 exactly! I love watching your videos. It picks me up when I feel my motivation level decreasing. I decided to start college again in 2016. I currently am taking pre reqs towards my associated in Nursing, then I will work towards my bsn and then get my masters in midwifery. That is my ultimate plan. I have one son who is 15 and things get difficult as a single mom of one. I also work full time. I work in the banking field and I don't think they would be flexible with my schedule but who knows. I'm stepping out in faith everytime I register. But I so appreciate your videos bc they are motivating.

Kudos to all the nurses, PCT, and other staff members who work in this speciality ... this one is really one that God has placed you there for a reason to be there for these families in one of their most difficult times.

    I've done pediatrics for my entire career. I specialized in picu and I had to quit when it became too emotional for me to handle at the time since we were having several kids pass away. I've taken a break to compose myself and see if another field would suit me better. It's been 2 years so now I want to go back.

    Wooow I just ran into this video! It’s very thought provoking & powerful. I’m trying to get into the hospital..I was offered patient transport and I was informed that not only will I have to transport patients all around the hospital but I will also have to take the deceased to the morgue as well. I was terrified. But I just have to spoke myself up and like to said..make a difference for them❤ Blessings to you sis🙏🏽🥰

    I really appreciated your guest being so open and honest. While it can be so hard to imagine willingly working with so much tragedy and being there with the family in those final moments, this video also opened my eyes to how important it is to have someone there with the family who is so compassionate, who truly wants to just be there for the family, who can be that emotional support. As heartbreaking as the situation is, that's going to be something the family will always remember and appreciate, that everything was done for the child and that, in the end the care team was there for them as much as they could be. Talk about having a job that really brings fulfillment to your life too...her father's advice was incredible. I've only just begun thinking about switching from the administration side of the hospital to patient care. I'm only 29 and I know people go back to school for nursing all the time, it's just me having the confidence and believing that I could get into school, that I could learn and really do this. But one of the big reasons I never have done it is because of anxiety and fear and wondering if I would even be able to handle nursing period, emotionally...but this video was so helpful and has really made me think even deeper. Thank you so much for sharing.

    That is a beautiful way of looking at it. When a bereavement occurs, to be the person that passes someone’s treasure and soul through the next steps with love and compassion is important. You are serving an important purpose that SOMEONE has to do. You make the emotional sacrifice for the proper and kind maternal/paternal love that little soul needs for their bodies to be passed to the next step. Also, the notion of not sharing these traumatic experiences to people that did not choose your line of work is so mature and true. Thank y’all for sharing this. I have wanted to be a psychologist but I have always found this consistent passion for the human body and care for children. I’m planning on changing my undergrad major soon! We shall see. Again, thank you both!

    • @yourfavnurseb9699
      @yourfavnurseb9699  4 года назад +1

      As a nurse you can get your RN degree in 2 years but it usually takes 1-2 years to do prerequisites before you can get into the nursing program and sometimes there is a waiting list. Then you may need to get experience before you can work Nicu but you may be able to get right in after school it all depends
