The fact that Josh is both the lead guitarist AND vocalist is amazing. It's not easy to play some of the riffs/solos that he can, and it's even tougher to play guitar while singing. Respect to him and this band. Hope they keep it up.
Do you not get it? I've just said that heavy doesn't = good. Obviously that doesn't mean that heavy music can't be good. I just find a lot of brain dead idiots who hear top string riffs and cum in their pants because they're too insecure to listen to anything remotely melodic and beautiful.
i get it, i wasn't taking anything away from what you said., by saying "although" . Protest the hero is one of my favorite bands , they have been known for using capos on their guitars. see the song "Skies". i agree with your sentiment, but Sylosis does both.
When Josh (The guitarist) became the frontman this band became so awesome. I love those mid-range vocals. It's all highs and lows anymore, so it's refreshing to hear someone differentiating themselves.
Not very common to see the Vocalist start shredding with sweeps in Metal bands these days let alone play guitar haha. We need more bands with chops like this.
+Vinicius Airton The bass guitar helps a ton by playing higher up, it gives the heavy sound backing the guitar riffs by tracking behind the riffs being played. The bass is also tuned well on the drums
+Laurence Buckley One thing that may make a higher tuning sound more "heavy" is the scale length. The shorter the fretboard is, the more loose strings can be at the same tuning as guitars with larger scale lengths. This allows the picked notes to detune more before they reach their actual pitch, because the attack of the pick causes the strings to bend at a slightly larger length than when they are more quiet. Sorry if that explanation is a little confusing. I know for a fact that SG's (which one of the guitarists appears to be using) have a shorter scale length. I'm not too sure about Josh's guitars scale length though.
Damn. Here we are in 2024. The first song I heard by them. Totally blew me away. Been a fan since edge of the earth. Conclusion of an age was a masterpiece as well. Their whole discography is unmatched.
Sorry matey, I listen to bands who can actually be clean and melodiousand this particular song is meaningless to me and I couldn't listen to it. As far as the solo went it left me empty and unfulfilled. To each their own
***** I listen to many a different types of metal and know exactly what you are saying but to say josh is not Clean and Melodiousand is obnoxious. Maybe not in this particular solo but have you heard a ton of his others?? Also, this solo is meant to have that evil, hypnagogic feeling that the song has, especially contrasting to the sweeping section which is a hypnagogic loop. learn your facts :P
You have trivium in your name. Haha. Don't get me wrong man Im down with crazy hypnogatic or whatever sounding stuff, check out killer be killed. I just found them recently and they are one of my favorite bands at the moment.
***** Yeha man sure :D. Ahhh a lot of people say "you have Trivium in your name." In your opinion obviously you do not like Trivium but I did make this account 4 years ago when I was Heavily Trivium. But being into Trivium does not stop me from enjoying other heavier branches of metal like death Metal.
I can’t believe it took me this long to discover these guys. I hear everything in here from master of puppets/and justice for all Metallica, gojira, as I lay dying, pantera, slayer, Iron Maiden, and even some black metal when it comes to the atmospherics. I’m really impressed by how seamlessly they blend so many genres and generations of metal and yet still make it their own.
They make E Standard sound like Meshuggah. Josh is an incredible guitar player and he writes great riffs and solos, he also sings really well. The drums as well sound so tight and in your face.
I come back to this song every now and then since it released. I can't believe it's been ten years. I love nuclear blast records because I found gems like this and Soilwork through this channel! I..I,
Your the best metal band i ever found! I like the rough vocal, instrument and the lyric choice is kinda "deep"...hoping for your more muzic!! LONG LIVE...\m/
Stuff played on the radio is for the masses. It's all commercial which makes the music very accessible to anyone right away. The difference between music on the radio and this is this type of music actually has depth which can make music last forever.
Still love this song as much as the first time I heard it over 2 years ago! One of my favorite bands! I've also just uploaded a guitar cover of the song "Behind the Sun" for the people that is interested in that! ;)
My Top 10 Sylosis songs without order: Empyreal Teras Kingdom of Solitude Out from Below Procession Apparitions Paradox Monolith Fear the World from the Edge of the Earth
good list, mine without order will be: Transcendence, Teras, Empyreal, Where the sky ends, Monolith, Enshrined, Harm, Mercy, Callous Souls, Quiescent (i love to sing and play Quiescent on acoustic guitar, very underappreciated song)
+Gabriel Martins (Inconfident) Ahhhh I see, yeh not sure what he uses to record. But the guitar in this video is def the one he uses for live performances. Josh has quite a few videos on YT, he might talk about what he uses to record in one of them. I know he does a tutorial vid for the sweep routine used in this track.
I love this band, this song is a testament to their greatness. Reminds me of Metallica on heavy steroids, kinda like the stuff that Tim Lambesis took minus the putting a hit out on your wife side effect.
If they just had more hooks like this in all of their songs... Trying my best to love these guys. They are the most talented band instrumentally to come along in a long time.
Well I'll be damned. Not bad at all. Don't judge a book by its cover I guess, figured it would be some ol' deathcore nonsense judging by their appearances, but nope. The fade out was a nice touch too, don't hear much of that anymore. Well done.
Coming back to this in 2023 after they've just released Deadwood. Man is Josh an insanely versatile and underrated musician. Super diverse and precise vocals while being one of the best rhythm guitar players out there and writing such tasteful leads as in this solo. Truly remarkable!
Although I love Conclusion of an Age, Jaimie's vocals were about as generic as it gets. Seriously, there was nothing to distinguish him from thousands of other vocalists in similar bands. That Sylosis has improved musically since he left isn't really debatable, since EotE shits on Conclusion from a great height in that respect.
Juan Viljoen this is correct, when used in the proper context, a fourth interval can create the illusion of a root where there isn't one. in this case. the low E is the actual root, but the 4th makes it seem like the actual root should be the A below the low E.
Heard about these guys, wasn't sure what to expect at first, curious about them playing in E standard which is unusual for modern extreme metal these days so I had to check em out, not disappointed, this has potential will follow
Jesus Christ, he throws out his sweeping straight up like that then starts playing AND singing?? Much respect, mate! \m/
Josh Middleton is a god amongst men!
TheMathMog93 not even close
He also is an amazing painter. Many people fail at trying to succeed in multiple arts. Josh is not one of those people.
Check out Muhammed Suicmez from Necrophagist if you find this impressive ;)
he didnt gave the other guitarist to have a solo too hahaha
The fact that Josh is both the lead guitarist AND vocalist is amazing. It's not easy to play some of the riffs/solos that he can, and it's even tougher to play guitar while singing. Respect to him and this band. Hope they keep it up.
Now this song is one of the best arguments ever on the defense of E standard tuning. Freaking great job.
Maximiliano Mendes
Yea was thinking the same. I thought it was drop D for a sec.
No, the argument should be that heavy doesn't = good.
Retrovirus this song is heavy as fuck though.
Do you not get it? I've just said that heavy doesn't = good. Obviously that doesn't mean that heavy music can't be good. I just find a lot of brain dead idiots who hear top string riffs and cum in their pants because they're too insecure to listen to anything remotely melodic and beautiful.

Most underrated band in metal...and for sure, the best live show I've ever attended!
they don't sound like anything special
But Emma sure does! :-P
+Steve Sullivan I have listened to a few songs they are good
Most underrated band ever actually is Anterior
Mau5 I wish they were still together, or maybe Im thinking of Antagonist that broke up? Either way both sick ass bands.
When Josh (The guitarist) became the frontman this band became so awesome.
I love those mid-range vocals. It's all highs and lows anymore, so it's refreshing to hear someone differentiating themselves.
Agree!
A masterpiece that will stand the test of time
Not very common to see the Vocalist start shredding with sweeps in Metal bands these days let alone play guitar haha. We need more bands with chops like this.
And Trivium
Vektor
Necrophagist
@@peeweh8192 I can't seem to escape trivium and sylosis being brought up in each other's coment section
@@yeetbomb2015 trivium sucks tho. EotE is bettet than the whole trivium discography
They prove that you don't need to downtune to sound heavy. Those guys know how to do Heavy music
+Vinicius Airton When i look the tabs for this song i was shocked that it's in EADGBE !
Me too, I was expecting at least one half tone down
Yes, I really wanted to study audio engineering, but I would have to move too far from home D:
+Vinicius Airton The bass guitar helps a ton by playing higher up, it gives the heavy sound backing the guitar riffs by tracking behind the riffs being played. The bass is also tuned well on the drums

I cant even describe how much I love this band. The whole of Edge of the Earth is a FUCKING masterpiece!
Damn. Here we are in 2024. The first song I heard by them. Totally blew me away. Been a fan since edge of the earth. Conclusion of an age was a masterpiece as well. Their whole discography is unmatched.
This song from 1:50 to 2:40 reminds me of Gojira in some ways (in a good way!). Love this band though!
I thought the same thing!
I just referred these guys to my younger cousin because he's a big Gojira fan 🤘
Reminds me of Chimaira more than Gojira
3:19 I Don't know what I enjoy more, the fact that he fucking rips out that solo or the fact that he's actually grooving to the music while soloing.
weak solo...

"I don't like growls, you cannot hear melody in growls..."
Sylosis: "Hold my beer..."
gojira:hold my beer
pantera:let me join
try architects
That teqnique called false screaming isn't growl...
Thoses are not growls but screams, growls are much deeper and lower so they can't be a problem for melody since melody is higher
@@ilham7345 I was just thinking Architects!
I saw these guys live with (I think) Lamb Of God, In Flames, and Hellyeah. They put on a good show, didn't realize they were with Nuclear Blast.
Sylosis forever! Play every song on guitar and so grateful for the opporunity to learn and play this amazing music!
No offense to Mastodon or Baroness. I love those bands as well, but Sylosis just has SOMETHING that I haven't heard from any other band...
They make E Standard sound like Meshuggah. Josh is an incredible guitar player and he writes great riffs and solos, he also sings really well. The drums as well sound so tight and in your face.
one of my favourite songs of all time especially the awesome solo
These vocals are so sick.. gave me goosebumps 10x in a row
I'm now the very proud owner of Baileys SG, which he's playing in this video :)
I've never seen a SG used like this, pretty cool tbh
After all those years, still one of my favourite metal songs. What a masterpiece!
This guy is so good!! He dive bombs on a stop tail guitar!!!! :O :O
One of the greatest metal albums ever written...
I've always loved sylosis
Respect from Turkey \m/
just bought the whole discography. Feeling so great about supporting something of such excellence.
Heard sylosis for the first time at the L.O.G. concert on thursday. And they are officially my new favorite band.
come to brazil
I'm a new fan, got all their album now and they are beyond doubt a standout metal band among all other new and old bands... killer metal!
1:01 i love that rythym sooo much
I come back to this song every now and then since it released. I can't believe it's been ten years. I love nuclear blast records because I found gems like this and Soilwork through this channel! I..I,

you just saw that emg video right? :D
yeah you're right! thank you emg :D
Intense, pure metal, superb band!
his vocals are awesome...you can hear the rage in his voice
S tier album
killer intro...kicks into the solo, these guys rip it....smoked out brainzzz says fuk yeah ..
Amazing Song!
Omg that breakdown 2:26
It's not a breakdown but a definite break up with what was just before! *badam tss*
good old sylosis never dissapoints
This is a HUGE tune
My first time hearing this,i like the band.....alot!!
Hell yeah Rosicky is into metal!!
I'm here because of him. :D And this is awesome. :D
Vikrant Minhas He like this band? I know he love heavy metal.
I'm really liking this band so far. Makes me thing of Gojira for some reason, possibly the vocals.
Was ein Brett.

Discovered this band today. I really like them!
prepare to be disappointed by their new stuff... listen to conclusion of an age for the best stuff.
"leech" is amazing what are you talking about.
TehMezzeh well we all know monolith was full of bad and boring bits.
Anti-theist Dormant Heart is my favorite album by them sir.
Anti-theist Used to think the same but EOTE is their best work
Still love this song as much as the first time I heard it over 2 years ago! One of my favorite bands!
I've also just uploaded a guitar cover of the song "Behind the Sun" for the people that is interested in that! ;)
My Top 10 Sylosis songs without order:
Empyreal
Teras
Kingdom of Solitude
Out from Below
Procession
Apparitions
Paradox
Monolith
Fear the World
from the Edge of the Earth
but tbh etoe and monolith only have great songs
you forgot Sands of Time
+-BONELESS-+ its a really good song as well
Yess indeed :p
good list, mine without order will be:
Transcendence, Teras, Empyreal, Where the sky ends, Monolith, Enshrined, Harm, Mercy, Callous Souls, Quiescent (i love to sing and play Quiescent on acoustic guitar, very underappreciated song)
These guys mix influences nicely.
I caught the Indy show.....and I as well as other Metal connoisseurs were very impressed with Sylosis....they are welcome back any time!
Great song, but as a guitarist, it's funny to see a floyd rose solo played on a regular les paul.
+Gabriel Martins (Inconfident) I Imagine its an ESP EC right?
I think it's a Gibson. Look at the headstock, and the cutaway isn't "pointy".
+Gabriel Martins (Inconfident) Ok, forgive my dumbness, but I thought Floyd Rose was a bridge not a solo?
p4fizzle haha, what I mean is you can hear him using a floyd rose tremolo in the recorded solo. But regular LPs don't have FRs.
When I first heard that they play in E standard, I was like IMPOSSIBRU !!
My favorite guitarist Mark Tremonti sent me here :)
Wait, what? How? Link?
The dude is a beast! it was probably about as hard as playing knocking on heavens door to him
Never stop making music!
Killer!
I like it!!
I just fell for this band

Oh man you have a lot to cover lucky you
i saw them live once a few months back..dudes are flawless. they play everything perfect
This one is masterpeace!!!
typed in bands like revocation only band I actually listened to for more then 10 secs
Not bad at all. Really digging this!
***** I'll most certainly try!
Not bad at all?.. man they are far above this.. they are just great
Shungkhrang Brahma Indeed. It was just that most of my friends dislike this band, so I was expecting something horrible. This was godly, however.
I just realised the actor is the dude from edge of the earth album cover
These guys are very energetic, it also seems like they've been influenced by the right musicians.
I saw these guys for the first time with Lamb of God, Hatebreed, and In Flames. LOVED IT. Big fan from America
If I could physically chop this song into a fine powder,
melt it on a spoon of gold,
then inject myself with said liquid,
I'd be so high right now.
The intro always reminds me of Awakenings by Symphony X
You should listen to 'Awakening' by Sylosis ;)
damn... i wish i could do highs like that D:
YOU don't like the music, that doesn't mean the world has to dislike it as well.
This is what i call good music man this is some sick songwriting
I had a nightmare about this video last night lol, specifically that about that guy at 0.22
That guitarist's solo at the beginning would please any girls ;)
How could you please a girl with a solo, it would rather be a FM :P *badam tss*
Also with his fast fingers ;)
I love this band, this song is a testament to their greatness. Reminds me of Metallica on heavy steroids, kinda like the stuff that Tim Lambesis took minus the putting a hit out on your wife side effect.
It's more like Sepultura after 1st album hired a versatile vocalist :)
I really love this song..
If they just had more hooks like this in all of their songs... Trying my best to love these guys. They are the most talented band instrumentally to come along in a long time.
He has a great name the lead singer 😏
Well I'll be damned. Not bad at all. Don't judge a book by its cover I guess, figured it would be some ol' deathcore nonsense judging by their appearances, but nope. The fade out was a nice touch too, don't hear much of that anymore. Well done.
That's why I like these guys. They don't follow modern trends. They just play really good Thrash Metal and melodic stuff.
It’s been 5 years knowing this band yet I still love them. Very underrated, better than the band Josh is In now, such great solos
and they are back
Yea, his new band is Architects..Middleton should've stayed in Sylosis
Coming back to this in 2023 after they've just released Deadwood. Man is Josh an insanely versatile and underrated musician. Super diverse and precise vocals while being one of the best rhythm guitar players out there and writing such tasteful leads as in this solo. Truly remarkable!

THIS IS HOW YOU FUCKING MAKE A BREAKDOWN!
FUUUUUUUCCCCKKKK!
I'm getting close to 218 I'm excited!!
MAHHHHHHHHHHH...I likey
That is not a breakdown... That is what you call a SLAM! Learn the difference please.
Yokai Seishinkage Here's a fun fact :No one gives a shit.
David Murphy Me?
Reminds me of old Trivium
no
ok
:)
Some of the instrumentals and riffs do, not so much the vocals, but I do hear it!
they can suck old trivium's cock bro. no competition.
This bands are amazing when the vocal scream.I like it.
I'm so in love with the chorus
"i'd say death influenced progressive thrash. Because I don't want to call something I like -core"
what's the tuning of this song? sounds like standart e but not sure because this also sounds lower.
E standard is correct ;D
They just use really heavy strings and heavy muting on the intro
Heavy strings can make sound heavy. I use 10-52 on Standard E.
Lol, heavy strings arnt the answer.... They used a fourth note combination in their power chords. Go search their tutorial vid on this.
Juan Viljoen this is correct, when used in the proper context, a fourth interval can create the illusion of a root where there isn't one. in this case. the low E is the actual root, but the 4th makes it seem like the actual root should be the A below the low E.
3:09 uses floyd rose on les paul. [visible confusion]
Nathan Lyrakis thats so Matt Heafy 🤣
Heard about these guys, wasn't sure what to expect at first, curious about them playing in E standard which is unusual for modern extreme metal these days so I had to check em out, not disappointed, this has potential will follow
These guys are so underrated.
I totally misjudged this band by the video pic... Pleasant surprise! They're fuckin badass! Tru metal bearing massive balls.
from 2:00 thats the only part you need to hear to love this
till 2:19
That's my favourite part of the song too.
subliminal.G.O.D I can see what you mean yeah. But don't forget about the breakdown right after it. :p
Peopples and 2016 ?
This fill is just boooooom. Masterpiece of melodic 😘
wow...this song is amazing...it is SSOOO MELODIC!!!
