First video of yours I've seen and subbed straightaway! This video jumped out at me instantly as I used to live near Plumstead Garage and used the 177 regularly. I also used the 122 and night part of the 53 on a regular basis too.
I moved in 2016 to another Stagecoach area (between Barking and Romford Garages) and have driven a car for the last few years so don't use buses very much now. Great to see the drivers POV of my old local stop at 19:54 and also reading the comments and replies below. For the most part of me living in this area the 177 was mainly worked with Tridents along with the 472, which at the time I believe shared the same drivers on both routes as well. My weekly 122 journey was also a Trident and chatting to drivers at the time the drivers on there also worked route 53. In terms of buses and shifts I think it's changed a bit now! Thanks for taking the time to produce this and post, appreciated. Cheers.
You're welcome!
Great video! I'm actually local to this bus route so it's nice to see a POV of a driver driving. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
That was great watching that as I am about to start my training, so It gives you an insight to what is Involved
Great video man, gotta love watching what you drivers do in the cab apart from the obvious of course and it’s inspiring too
Thank you! It's great to see you have enjoyed the video!
Very nice video! I live on this route and it's quite interesting to see this.
I'm glad you have enjoyed it! Hope it gave you some insight into the route
Your a good driver Mate Keep it up
He is missing a few things ie.. he doesn’t check his left mirror when pulling of, passengers have been dragged when trapped in doors. Also left mirror is check in case🎉another passenger wants bus.. in fact his general mirror work is poor. Right had mirror before moving out also and mirror before indication. Indicator also when move to right so cyclist no when you doing. Apart from that he drives well..
Keep uploading with bus videos you’ll gain much more views and I’ve subscribed
Gotta love the E400H, shame they aren't produced anymore :(
One of my local routes as I live in Plumstead! If you do any other routes and film a Full length POV of one of those then ill defo give it a watch. I've subbed as well by the way!
Thank you! Yes I do plan to do more, I don't want to do too many on the 177's purely because it would get boring for you because it would just be the same. So as soon as I get on another route I will definitely be doing more!
Awesome video mate am going to be applying to become a bus driver in June with National Express can’t wait
Well good luck to you mate!
@@TaylorStraub thanks mate 👊🏼

Very interesting video mate, I work in the Thamesmead Canals you drive over and the large lake as you go over the flyover , if you see a boat it will be me driving... New sub...🙂
Oh really that's interesting! I'll have to keep an eye out for you!
I like videos like this.
Love these type of videos keep them coming! And what age did you become a bus driver?
Thank you! In answer to your question i became a bus driver at 20 years old which is weirdly how old I am lol
Great content mate, I love the Enviro 400 but haven't drove one for 3 months since I changed depot. keep up the good work, subscribed
Thanks mate love your videos by the way!
@@TaylorStraub my videos are not as good as I hoped to be but social media policy stops me doing what I wanted. Hope all is well and hope you are safe
I just realised the title of the video is wrong because ''ENVRIO'' Not *Enviro
yo upload some more videos 132 driver
Nice video bro
Hi Taylor. I was impressed by your excellent driving skills ( I am a 30 yr service bus driver who started in London ). Can I ask why you had to keep pressing a button on that grey box above your head? We didn't have ibus when I started with LT. Is driving a hybrid bus any different from conventional diesel?
Thank you for the kind words good sir! I kept on pressing that button to check my headway as the 177 is a high frequency service and doesn't keep to a strict timetable it's all about keeping an even gap between the buses. If you want to learn more about the grey box which is known as the MDT feel free to check my channel as I have done a video about the MDT and what it's used for.
In my view driving a hybrid is great as the braking is nice and smooth and is obviously much better for the environment. Everything about a hybrid is great and smooth. However driving a good old fashioned diesel will never get old they are always a lot of fun to drive and you can't beat the classic buses in my opinion!
@@TaylorStraub ok cool. Certainly changed a lot from when i worked in london lol
Do You Have More POVS Planned And Great Video ?? !!
I have a lot of video ideas in mind it's just if I have the time to do them with regards to POV videos I want to do more but I don't want to do too many for the 177's because it will just end up being the same every time I kind of want to wait to do some more when I get put on another route
@@TaylorStraub Do You Have Any Other POVs On Other Routes Or Just The 177s !!
@@jdlondon3532 I'm only on the 177's at the moment I don't know when I'm changing routes unfortunately
Great rides mate! Following already! Thanks a lot!
Don't you need to cover your face while driving?
Because the cab is completely sealed we aren't required to wear face coverings
Interesting video, I would imagine that the 177 can be quite arduous, would you prefer a different route? One PD driver told me the 122 is his favourite. Is it common to find no space at PM? And the problems outside NX if there are a few buses charging drivers.
I can agree with you there. There are 2 sides to the 177's, as a route it's pretty straight forward but in terms of the places you travel to you can experience trouble. Peckham and Thamesmead are notorious for being pretty rough areas. You do meet a lot of people who are rude, fare evade etc. I have had to call the police on 2 occasions mainly for abuse towards me. Yes I would love to do another route. My favourite routes out of Plumstead are the 96 and 422's, my favourite route out of the 2 has to definitely be the 96 no doubt about it I cannot wait to finally get onto that route. Onto your next point yeah I know a driver whose been doing the 122's for around 10 years. I know him through my dad who used to do the 122's before moving onto the 99's. I was meant to start on the 122's when I started in December but they changed it last minute because my mentor called in sick so I was moved over to the 177's because that was the only space that was available. Onto your point about no space at Peckham, in the times we are in now it can be pretty common for there to not be spaces purley because most if not all buses are running very early because there isn't any traffic or passengers on the road. There have been times where there was 4 177's on the stand because we were all running very early (but we kept an even gap between each other) TFL were getting annoyed at this lol. Onto your last point about New cross, yes it can be difficult to get to the bus stop when they are changing drivers but it's something to be expected because it's the same at our changeover points in Plumstead. I hope that answers your questions.
Brilliant, very interesting. Yes I would think the 96 would be fun especially the fast section to Bluewater, I quite like the Scanias although I know they're not everyone's cup of tea.
@@jbc825 The Scania's are very nice to drive, it is honestly the equivalent to driving a car. The pedals are exactly the same to a car. I love the 96 because the route is pretty much a straight line (which makes it very easy to remember) plus It goes through near where I live so I can see my friends more often which means they can come on the bus and hang out when i'm on the stand. It's always nice when someone you know wants to spend some time with you at work makes the day much more enjoyable.
How do you know which way to go? Just asking 😀
You do a couple days of route learning to memorize the route then on your first couple days in service you have a mentor with you just in case you get lost and if you have any questions about anything else
@@TaylorStraub Thank you because I would love to become one!
Would You Do This Type If Video But On The MMC Buses ??
Yeah I can do when I get one I can do one for the Volvo MMC's and the Enviro 400 MMC's. Only problem with those ones is they're rarely on the 177's it's normally the volvo mmc and the enviro 400's
@@TaylorStraub Yh Do One With The Volvo MMC !!
@@youtubelife4326 Ok word of warning they're not very nice to drive the acceleration and braking are really rubbish so you'll probably hear me get annoyed a lot lol
@@TaylorStraub I Heard That They Use Them On The 47 Bus Route To Shoreditch From Catford Garage !!
@@youtubelife4326 Yeah I think they do but i'm not too sure as I am based at Plumstead not Catford but i'm pretty sure they do
what shifts do you normally do
You do a week of early shifts then a week of late shifts and it just keeps cycling back every week sometimes you'll get a couple of middle shifts to do
Round my ends 😛
My guy❤
13:10 for god sake.
He would have to press the bell as I'm pulling away😡
Aren't you allowed to show us how to start up the bus? If not, you should edit the part at the beginning.
I can definitely go over it when I film another POV video and give you a glimpse into how we start up the bus
