This may be my favourite Squeeze song and I haven't listened to it for maybe decades. Where the hell does the time go?
My absolute favourite Sgueeze song.
One of the most underrated guitar solos of all time
The solo is so professional..........perfect I'm a bit late but this is my new fav band. This song one of the best ever written
From the 1980 album Argybargy, this is great tune with the old rock sound and and a great guitar solo. Complete with marimbas, groovin synthesizer and an addictive bass you have to move to this rhythm.
Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Cosmo. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
This is such a fantastic song. I just love the Argybargy album and still have it. Thank you Cosmo and Harri.
So glad you are getting to Squeeze reactions! Great song, but then i have never yet heard a bad squeeze song. The best thing about squeeze is their lyrics... And their rhythm... Their melodies... Like that guitar riff in the middle. Did I mention their lyrics?
Yep, fantastic lyrics ! .. Chris Difford was simply brilliant with them .. Songs about life and love, with a wonderfully witty tongue-in-cheek attitude .. And his song-writing partnership with Glenn Tilbrook ( who was a master of melody ) was one of the very best ever, IMHO !
My second favourite Squeeze song after up the junction.
happy 50th anniversary to one of the best bands / songwriters ever
💥Oh man...YES!!! When I saw this on MTV this was 1 of my favorite songs back when I was in high school🔥🔥🔥 I never thought of Wings...and ska...YES 👍🏻I was a bit disappointed the song didn't do better, "Pulling Mussles (from the Shell)" is another goodie! There is Jools Holland on the keys aka the bloke playing bartender!!!
When I was a little kid I used to think they were saying “Pulling Muscles for Michelle” lol.
Great Band Enoy ! The 80s Were Fun Times
Cosmo - Thank you for introducing me to Squeeze "Another Nail In My Heart". I am going to have to take a deeper dive into them later today. I certainly enjoyed this submission. Excellent review, Harri.
Best band I ever saw live
Great song from a great ( and hugely under-rated ) band ! .. Just love this one.👍 .. Gotta get onto some more Squeeze gems, Harri .. Try "Cool For Cats", "Tempted", "Goodbye Girl" or "Is That Love ?".
I was just about to write almost exactly the same thing!
@@nyrocks5580 Cool ! .. You obviously have great taste. 😉
@@wayne_twentyfive you and I both! LOL
Keep the Squeeze coming! Super talented.
This is when Jools Holland was still with them. All Squeeze is great! You should do "From a Whisper to a Scream" by Glenn Tilbrook and Elvis Costello
I'm really loving your choices lately
Sqeeze was such a Great band❤❤❤
Squeeze never really reached their commercial potential. Musically underrated also. I don't know why this song wasn't top 3 at least. Had loads of radio play at the time.
Excellent. Takes me back to high school.
Good and funny music, I like it
Back in the day, when the charts had more relevance I took it with a grain of salt. I knew the charts or the masses missed out on lots of quality music. This is a good example.
your grain of salt comment caught my attention, there is a song called " a grain of salt" by group radiators. they have a couple other songs i like "molasses"
and a catchy "party till the money runs out" sorry if not your taste and just annoyed you.
Great song, very underrated.
Beautiful solo
This band is an example of the fact that talent doesn’t always bring success. I’m not sure how they have done in the U.K and other countries, but they have not had the kind of mass appeal that they should have had.
They got a lot of the Lennon /McCartney comparison for the songwriting.
A friend I met in photography school ('81) and I would argue about that all the time! She kept telling me Squeeze were the better songwriters, I was team Lennon/McCartney. We remained great friends, still get together often, go on photo trips, and still argue about that to this day! Some things never change...☺
This song for me triggered a ton of Rewind on the shite cassette player instantly
Jools Holland's best performance!
The lead vocals remind me of a young John Lennon more than McCartney. There's that throaty rasp in the extended notes.
The backing track is great. The lyrics are great - but the mesh of the two is a little strained at points. I suspect that for some people those very long elongations of words like "Arrangements" got irritating on repeated listens. Squeeze never did a bad track, but as a whole I think this is less good than some of the others - just my opinion - but the backing track is one of their all time best and that guitar solo is inspired.
I hear some sound similarities with Fame Is by Crowded House
Everytime technology changed I bought more Squeeze. 2 LPs, cassette, MP3, digital.
Wait, you have reacted to 5 Squeeze songs and have not done their biggest hit (by far), Tempted? Gotta fix that.
Not in the uk ,cool for cats and and up the junction both got to number 2 in 1979 .
There isn't a weak song on the whole album. You hear Wings, I hear John Lennon in the vocals. Good either way.
McCartney and Lennon WHO ?
DIFFORD AND TILBROOK ALL DAY LONG AND TWICE ON SUNDAY OVER THE FAB 4 !!!
