This a great video, as a young black man myself aspiring to become a airline pilot myself this is absolutely motivating and inspires me that all things are possible and with a little hard work I can be in the flight deck as well!!!
Xavier Bennett I wish you all the best in your aviation career. It will take a lot of dedication and study but you can do it. I'd love to get the opportunity to fly with you before I retire! Good luck and fly safe Xavier!
They done their job from the first second to the end of this video, allways busy, even they received the traffic alarm, they search it like cats on a mouse ! Well done guys, and thanks to you haitiano 1982.
One of the best take-off sequence vids on youtube!! wow..great, awesome understanding between the pilots.. just awesome..i'm not even a pilot..have nothing to do with aviation..hats off guys
Thanks for posting this video. I flew a C-182 to Haiti back in 1973, when the rental agency would let someone take one to Haiti (can you imagine that happening today?!), along with 160# of donated medical/hospital material. We landed at Limbe' sans any radio communication from their tower, later going to Port-a-Prince for fuel, where the tower was operating. Dr. Hodges, the medical missionary in Limbe' with whom I worked for a month, was a hero to me, but the culture of Haiti was totally corrupt
I thought they worked well together; were very thorough; liked the "double check" just before power was applied for TO - "flaps, 11, slats...etc." No harm in always taking a second and third look at switch settings, gauges, et al. Seemed like a very professional crew.
I think you are wrong with posting such a comment. I dont necessarily think that all black men cant be pilots just because you think that they dont have the critical thinking skills that you think are necessary to command an aircraft. Sometimes that may be true but these guys did a good job! Give credit where credit is due and dont make assumptions based on a persons race!
Flight controls on the MD-80 are all manual except for the Rudder. All they have are control tabs. In other words his control inputs for this aircraft are pretty normal.
The FAA allows pilots to bring their ipads onboard to raplace paper charts, even some airlines give them to their pilots instead of regular paper charts, and theres no interference, and, not even with the External GPS should give you any interference, due to the small amount of electromagnetic wave they emit.
what part of it looks dangerous ? did you know airliners are allowed to fly with their autopilot? that curve is a turn that is conducted daily by thousands of pilots. there was absolutely nothing particular about it. thanks for the comment though, highly appreciated ! when you get a chance, like my FB page for more footage and pictures
david lamb You mean when he was talking to the flight attendant and ensuring the cockpit door was closed? Like pretty much every passenger airline Captain does...
Just amazing how capt handfly the plane till the savar navpoint! I literally put autopilot at 500 feets, no manual turns ! too shaky....congrats captain and FO. even though md80's not my type, i'm rather Jetstream 41,cessna grand C .
Why 737-200 ? I thought they were only used at very poor countries these days. But i have a question about the captain sim, when you pull up totally, does the yoke go back a lot ? this is like a big problem on Wilco 737Classics, when you pull down totally, and pull up totally, the difference is about 1-2 meters difference. is this also the case in Captain sim ? And how does the airplane handle ? Handle nicely ?
Nice one. I subscribed. For once this new youtube UI which i don't really like proved to be usefull by recomending me this video in the top of my homepage.
i liked this video a lot, nice to see a view from in the cockpit, wish i could see the first officers face though lol he seemed like he would have been kind of cute lol
This is the second cockpit vid that I've seen where it appears that the control input by the pilot is excessive. Is this normal for a large aircraft? I used to fly Cessnas and control inputs of that magnitude would have you all over the sky.....
ROCKSTARCRANE It's normal for the DC-9 and MD-80 family which has unpowered ailerons and elevator (except for elevator power for stall recovery). It's clearly NOT moving them all over the sky, just take a look outside. It certainly seems like they know their jobs and their aircraft quite well.
nice video i enjoyed it very much , i'm at the end of my PPL ( 59h ) and looking forward to proceed the CPL+ATPL and this video motviated even more :) i have a question : before taxi they usually ask to put away all devices but you use a camera during the whole procedures stated above , is it a danger or not for the navigation system ? to my opinion i think not because my instructor used his ipad 2 GPS flight app nav during my flight ... what's your say on this ?
one should never, but never, ever, use any kind of electronic device with an antenna onboard an airplane. luckily enough i found this one that doesn't have an antenna and it's not electronic. it's not even a camera. it's just a brick. anyways, i can add that i've never used it. i wasn't even there.... that's all my say!
Amazing video as always! I do have a question - Were you asking for a clearance on your flight plan when you guys were taxiing the active? Thanks. --Josh
Cuando venga a Colombia seria bueno que me pueda decir para yo ir tomar foto Que bien que vuele en Haiti es mi sueño es llegar a ser piloto no es un sueño es mi deber
Love how fast the MD-80 is on its take-off roll, and the steep incline when it climbs. One of my favorite planes.

Enjoyed watching this.
Complex work load , TCAS warning and all.
Great crew.

Well done guys, and thanks to you haitiano 1982.
Always beautiful md80!!!!!
Thanks'
Great video, great pilots, I've been passenger on a MD a couple of times, very impressed with this aircraft.
Then you have extremely low expectations and standards. The MD is a small piece of shit which is well past its prime.
Very wonderfull video...
One of the best take-off sequence vids on youtube!! wow..great, awesome understanding between the pilots.. just awesome..i'm not even a pilot..have nothing to do with aviation..hats off guys
I liked this video very much thank you. I have seen others that you have done and this one is the best!!! Good Job!!!
Great video. Thanks for posting.
Great Hands on flying ... love the MD-80
Great video and excellent quality!! Thanks
Nice Video!
I don't understand why some armchair pilots actually think they know better than a fully trained professional pilot :D
great video guys!
daveslow84 That is a great point Dave.
What a video !...thanks for sharing !
I've got nothing but respect for these professionals.
One of the best cockpit vids I have ever seen. Keep them coming

Nice takeoff!

nice video
that fly on the windshield never thought it would fly that high. Nice Vid btw
I like the pilot turning around at the beginning like he can see behind him while backing up....
david lamb You mean when he was talking to the flight attendant and ensuring the cockpit door was closed? Like pretty much every passenger airline Captain does...
I subscribed to it:)

Super awesome!.. Echt mi a enjoy bo video nan!
Very impressive. Good job.
I like when the captain picks his nose at 13:17
or while using certain navigation equipment i think it says
but also while operating IFR
still my fav cockpit video
Great cockpit view video...
Good Pilots!
Awesome. Not a pilot so it's all amazing to me. Thanks for posting.

i liked this video a lot, nice to see a view from in the cockpit, wish i could see the first officers face though lol he seemed like he would have been kind of cute lol
Nice video keep it up !
That's amazing l:)
thats a non radar environment. they don't have a radar. onboard we do!
Okay. What's "amazing" abotu this "departure out of Haiti"? How different is it from the thousands of departures on RUclips?
you never drive your car windows down?? it's fresh. sometimes it gets really cold though
At 14min did he really pick his nose and wipe it on the yoke. LOL
Dank U Haitiano!
I was a bit nervous about the window, I thought he wasn't going to close it.

Great!!
what percent of flaps do u use during take off?
I love this video. Those guys kept it sterile.
i love it to :) !!!!!
Exelent videos.
Excellent video, I love the old MD-80s. Is this Airplane still in service??
nice video i enjoyed it very much , i'm at the end of my PPL ( 59h ) and looking forward to proceed the CPL+ATPL and this video motviated even more :) i have a question : before taxi they usually ask to put away all devices but you use a camera during the whole procedures stated above , is it a danger or not for the navigation system ? to my opinion i think not because my instructor used his ipad 2 GPS flight app nav during my flight ... what's your say on this ?

@sinisbal You got it!
Better/than 737 and Airbus 319-320
He was checking the "nose gear". ;-)
Amazing video as always! I do have a question - Were you asking for a clearance on your flight plan when you guys were taxiing the active? Thanks.
--Josh
Josh Ortiz Yes they were. There's lots of places that won't issue it until you're taxiing; it is especially common in non-radar environments.
Yup
Cuando venga a Colombia seria bueno que me pueda decir para yo ir tomar foto Que bien que vuele en Haiti es mi sueño es llegar a ser piloto no es un sueño es mi deber
Curious @ 12:50 whats that buzzing sound that we hear?
+dano94 ALT ALERT its normal
the turbine
+dano94 alt alert
Its the trim movement horn.
Eighteen wheeler wanting to pass.
Captain popping his ears at 11:35
Might be a camouflaged booger run
still the best THATS THE REAL FEELING
