Would definitely like to see a video about installing an oil pan. Lots of “no-fail” procedures out there but would like to see a pro do it so it doesn’t leak.
Hello Brian, I like the details you are showing us about that 442 engine. I think the use of the iron alloy pistons was to save aluminum for war time. My 441 engine had aluminum pistons. The 442 would be the first year of having bearing inserts for the rods. Spun Babbitt rod big ends for all the prior years. Interesting that you found a NOS crank of that style.
Always educational info, particularly for me with no experience. Thank you for keeping the videos coming. I’ll be watching the F head work close, that’s what’s in my Cj5.
Really looking forward to see more progress on the 258, specially one its all painted, i bet it'll ve a master piece as always! Does the 258 have the same color scheme as the 232? Thank you for another great video Brian!
Hi Brian, the motors look good, you sure have a lot going on. I'm getting shut down on the 25th to get a knee replacement on my right knee. I wanted to wait until next spring, but my insurance has some issue with the hospital, and if i wait, the copays and coverage are gonna go way up. They got me in, because they know this is my good leg, and that i have the muscle wasting on my left side, so they moved me to the top of the cancellation list. I did manage to get the m38a1 completely taken apart, so when i get cleared, the heavy stuff is done. I wanted to sand blast the frame and body before winter, but it will have to wait. I have a couple small patches to weld on the body, but nothing major. On my down time, i have the wiring harness to go through. I found some NOS wiring with the right connectors that came off a bigger rig, couldn't believe how nice the stuff is, no corrosion. Most of the connections on my Jeep are really clean, the wires aren't bad either, but the jacket around the wire is so old, i just don't trust it, its not brittle, but it's kinda soft, hard to explain. I paid less than 100$ for the only two harnesses the guy had. The tail light connectors are the exact same, just a few feet longer. I have enough wire and connectors to do the whole Jeep, and i found a nice NOS spider wire, and a NOS breaker that came in the original cardboard can, and it's stamped 1954, the same year as my Jeep. I hated opening it up, but i needed to make sure the breaker was good, and it looked brand new, and i think it was still made of the stuff before they used plastic, bake lite i believe, but it tested good, and i won't have to worry about the old cracked one, even though it still work's. I will have some time to watch more of your old video's, but as soon as they clear me i will be back at it. G-d bless.
best wishes for a speedy recovery from your knee operation. you are making good progress on your Jeep and once you get everything sandblasted and painted it should go back together smoothly. keep digging for NOS parts there are still a lot of M38A1 parts out there.
So. if you are using arp studs on a cj2a.... with Arp lube..... what should the torque spec be..... Im almost there and cant find this info anywhere......
Brian, you know what you're putting into these engines so why not price them accordingly? No doubt you have a superior product so let the price reflect that. Nobody calls Summit to try to dicker down the price of a Chevy 350, right? The price is set and either they buy it or they don't with no hard feelings. Hate to see you get frustrated, man.
Sometimes you have to tell us twice make sure we listen 👍👍👍

Thank you for the rebuild tips Brian! Really looking forward to see how you get the right preload on the High output 258 you are building!
Coming soon!

I bought a rebuilt motor from Brian. I thought it was Up to par with white to get anywhere else for the quality. 👍👍👍

Oregon Cam Grinders has done several custom cams for me over the years, should be able to duplicate that Clifford one.
Looking good Brian!!
Thanks 👍
