I was also 25 when I met my future family. The youngest was 5 and her sisters, 13 & 14. 25 years later, that 5 year old is 30 and these girls have blessed me with four wonderful grandchildren. Made my life complete. Thank you for making me a better man!!

My son told me he was comfortable and called me dad this weekend, I met him when he was 4 years old and recently turned 8. We listen to this song on our drive home in the truck unannounced and he picked it up and asked me to replay it several times. I love my son, daughter and ever grateful for their mom for giving me a son and daughter!

When I was 25 I started seeing a lovely woman with a pre started family. 7 yrs later were not together anymore but I still have my daughter and son. Theres no DNA between us but plenty of love. My ex-wife sent me this song and said no matter what happened between her and I, I'll always be their dad. To all the step dads out there keep up the good work and to all the sperm donors who stepped down thanks for giving us the extra space to step up.

In my case met a woman when i was 22. she had a 1 year old already. 10 years later we dinn work out anymore. I whent to that 11 year old boy and told him: "Just because i am leaving your mother, does not mean i am leaving you". (His real dad did that already when he was only months old).
He just turned 18 years this year. He still calls me dad and i still refer to him as my son and nothing else. He still spend plenty of weekends and holidays with me. I will never think of him any less than my own.

This song hits my heart hard! I was raised by my "step" dad. And at the age of 36 i met my current wife, who had 2 boys of her own. At 37 we started fostering a little boy just 2 days old right out of the hospital! Almost 2 years later we were able to adopt him...

This song reminds me of how lucky I am to have had a wonderful Dad. He died 2 years ago at the age of 80. He was married to my Mom for 54 years when he died. I wish more young boys these days could have a Dad like I did.
I've taised my son since he was 3 ,he's now 18 and serving in the US army ,I'm so proud of him ,I hope I did a good enough job raising him into a good man.
This is such a beautiful song. It reminds me of my cousins husband. Her sons biological father sent him a letter at age 8 saying he was CHOOSING to be absent from his life. Her current husband has been in their lives since little man was almost 2, and thank God for that.

This hits me hard! I’ve been blessed to have Dad and Pops. When mom remarried, Pops stepped up and treated me and my siblings like one of his own. Then I found out he adopted all 4 of his other children! Seven of us and he never treated anyone differently than the others. He always introduced me as his son and told people how proud he was of me. At an awards ceremony where I received several awards, Dad and Pops stood up and said “That’s our son!”. Dad crossed over in March 2017 and Pops crossed over December of last year.

Thank you Elvie for this song. I heard it recently for the first time going out to dinner with my wife. We just turned on the radio and all I heard were the last couple lines, 'he's my son and that's my choice, he ain't my blood but he's my boy'. That's all it took, it grabbed my ear and my heart. I couldn't wait to get home and look it up and hear the whole song. It couldn't get any closer to my sentiments without me having wrote it myself for my youngest adopted son who is now 17. The second play I had him watch and listen to this video and I couldn't keep it together. Yep, I'm an old hard case. That's again Elvie.
I met my son when he was 12 and adopted him when he was 14. I raised him mostly by myself and have never regretted it for a moment. The line of Elvie's "My Boy" that hit me the hardest is "The first time he called me Dad it hit me like a train." WOW, for me that first time was like nothing I had ever experienced before. Even now many years later when he calls me "Dad" it still sends shivers up my spine. He is now a dad himself and is an amazing father. He is truly MY BOY and I am so proud of him.

I love ❣️❣️ this song. This is to all of the stepdad's and stepmom's out there I raise a glass to you. You know that there's a lot of men an women out there that can't have children of their own. A lot of them wish they could have kids of their own and can't. I was told by my grandfather years ago it takes a boy to make a baby and it takes a man to be a father. It's the same thing for a mother.

Thank you for this beautiful song. The first time I heard it I cried, I’m the mom of two sons that were born before I met them. They’re both fine men in their 30’s now, and I have two grand babies and love them all more than life itself. I’m learning to play this song for them (if I can make it through without breaking down) and have taken some liberties with the words since I’m Mom ;-)

I can totally relate to this being a father of 8 children, one of my sons isn't mine and I met him when I was 30 years old before he was even a year old, and I married his mother who I've known since I was in college. I cry every time I hear this song. My husband and I had children from previous relationships. Together we have 4 sons (2 from him, 1 from me and 1 we had together). My son calls him "Daddy" and his sons call me "Mum". We both raised our boys together. This song hits me all the time because there is so much love within our blended family.

Beautiful song! As a father who unfortunately doesn't live as close to my son as I'd like currently, I have the utmost respect and am so thankful for step dads. I'm still fully involved with my boy's life just don't see him in person as much as I'd like, but I'm thankful he's got someone there for him when I can't be.

Elvie Shane is AMAZING I met him this summer. He refused to leave until all his fans met him. We had a beer with his dad and got some amazing pictures together. The back story is kinda amazing on how I met him. So I was adopted I never knew my real father but the man who adopted me, I call dad he served in the military and never missed a day together when he was home and to this day we see and each other and talk everyday I found out when I was 15 he sit me down and told me but it changed nothing he's my father put the roof over my head was there and supported me when he didn't have to I thank God for such an amazing father. So I was telling my partners dad about my dad and everything growing up and I tear up cause I had the greatest dad that didn't have to be. Anyways my partners dad and me shared many conversations about it and his dad called and asked if we would like to go to a truck show outta state we said yes its about a 6hr drive, his dad asked when we was leaving the event to head home and we said probably about 6pm. His dad asked us out to dinner so we went and he took us back to the truck show and we was gathering our stuff and talking about the great day we had his dad Said I have concert tickets I got you guys if you would like to attend said it was Tony Justice we kicked it back and fourth said it was a long drive back and should probably head home and he walked up and hugged me and his son said I never ask for anything but would love if you stay and attend with me so we did. Tony played all his songs he was amazing . Then when the stage was being reset which I didn't know there was another singer his dad looked at us and let's get a beer together before Tony comes back out im all like ok. We come back and his sons and their wife's all stand back and say cheers this is for you and I'm lost at this point I have no idea what just happened or what the hell they are even talking about and here comes ELVIE SHANE AND HIS DAD walking past me I'M LIKE OMFG NO WAY jumping and yelling did you see him guys look its ELVIE and his Dad at a Tony Justice concert omg I wanna met him but i dont wanna be that guy to invade on someone enjoying their time. They are all smiling at me cause I'm freaking out. My partners dad says isn't that the guy that sings that song you always play and talk about meaning so much to you and wanting to meet I'm like YES THATS HIM OMG THATS ELVIE. I was just excited to see him. His dad says wow that's really cool my partner looks at me says that's so crazy and then I heard Elvies voice on the mic I turned around and Said Omg no way this isn't happening my partners dad gave me a hug and said I LOVE YOU like your my son I know how much you like him and how much the song my boy means to you so I made sure you would see him. I was like wait what, yes my partner knew they played it off seamlessly, I'm like I love you all so much. We waited in line to meet him got his signature talked a few minutes and had a beer with his dad which I can say was the most fun crazy convo I've had with someone. Elvie and his dad are amazing down to earth good people and put on an amazing show. He's a must see if you like his music and he smacks down the politically correct shit its so funny when he talks about it. Such a great time. Now I can't wait to see him again lol dream came true tho.

I was blown away by this song. She has two sons that were born before I came along, but they are mine still. Oh, and I ain’t missed a ball game yet. I married this wonderful man and he had two awsome kids n our daughter back then was 16 years old n our son was 14 years old n I was 28 when my husband n I married he was 47 n we been married since 2013 been married 9 years last Sept 2022 n I wouldn't change nothing world I am blessed to be their momma n God sent all three to me n I am blessed so much I thankyou lord for all three of them n my great granny had saying the only steps she had was her front porch steps she claimed all of grand children no matter what n they was all treat the same she loved all of us the same
