Hey! Im going to be a freshman in August and I have this one thought that keeps bothering me. I’m doing this thing in Texas called early college high school. It’s a program that gives you an AA degree when you graduate HS. We don’t have a lot of APs and most of the courses are DC courses through the local community college. I also know that most schools outside of Texas don’t accept too many dual credits. But is it a good thing if I take all the rigorous DC and honors courses since my school doesn’t have too many APs? Thanks for the help🫶

Thanks for these valuable infos! But i have a question mark in my head about passion projects. For example, i'll apply for biomedical sciences major. But if my passions are diverse, can i do a passion project about starting and running a business, entrepreneurship? Would this affect my application positively or specifying on a field in ecs is better?
Your ecs don't necessarily have to be specified on your field/major for college, but it can help to show interest and dedication to your major. It's important to have a diverse range of ecs, so make sure you have a good split between ecs for passion and ecs for your major.

Good day mam. I am a grade 11 student in South Africa. I have been searching for information on what to take to increase my chances of getting into Harvard. I take 8 subjects (CAPS south african curriculum- physics(with chemistry), accounting, life sciences, history, pure maths, english home language, afrikaans fist additional language and life orientation). Along with AP maths. Do you think i need to take more rigorous courses on top of these?

no trust me even then if you don't get in during high school you can transfer at community college or another university you are going to if you want. Freshman in high school have so much time just trust me i graduated high school just a month ago. Join extracurriculars, clubs, all that stuff. Take APs and Honors classes if you can too. It's not too late even if you're a sophomore in summer vacation. 3.9 GPA is good too it shouldn't be too hard to raise to a 4.0 with APs. Use the video as a guide, study, focus. You have so much time you don't even know.

enjoy ur mid school. Enjoy ur childhood. and do what u love, there is nothing to worry while u r 12 yr old.
i got into several prestigious colleges (committed to harvard), and my advice for you is to enjoy middle school. don't stress too much about internships, projects, etc., instead, explore and find out what your true passion is and learn/practice that passion so that you know which direction to go during your actual college application. if you get really good at your passion, once you enter high school, you can easily get all these projects and extracurriculars so don't stress right now!

I was wondering if it is ok if I got one B in highschool sophomore year (AP French 5) I have a 3.97 UW and a 5.85/6 weighted GPA. I was wondering if that one B will make an impact on my application to top schools like Harvard or MIT?
no you're good!! you already have really impressive gpa just make sure the rest of your application is fine as well! I got into harvard, MIT, yale, usc, ucla and brown and I had 2 b's lol. my high school was extremely competitive but i still ended up doing well.

While I commend you for your success, I do worry that all your social media activity is perpetuating a false idea that the be all and end all of school and life generally is acceptance into “elite”, high status institutions, professions etc. life isn’t all about that
Hi guys, I am in my junior year, currently writing my essays and planning my application. I’ve been the school’s representative for debating, drama, varsity badminton, and Nation Honored Students. My current GPA even weighted is 3.69 because I was not a good student in my ninth grade. My GPA rise from 3.5 in ni th grade with no AP or IB to 3.77 in 10th grade, but it drop a bit to 3.75 (weighted) after I took AP Bio, AP psychology, AP History, and AP microeconomics. I wanted to show the uni that I am capable enough to be there, but I am in fear of rejected so bad and I’m lose hope; I lose hope because despite of what my extra circulars are, my grades will never be good enough for them even though I’ve grown. Should I still apply to my dream ivies?
