  • Follow along as we learn how to process a chicken for the first time!
We've been raising chickens now for about a year and a half. Up until now it's been for eggs and breeding Ayam Cemanis, which are some of the rarest chickens in the world. Our long-term goal is of course to eat our chickens as well. We have some friends from our homeschool community who offered to have us come out and help and learn how it's done. So we packed up the camper along with a mean rooster we called Quasimodo. Quasimodo was a cross between our Ayam Cemanis and our Silkies. An extra crossbreed rooster seemed like an easy choice. Come along with us as we process our first chicken.
Be sure to give us a follow for new videos and updates from our Idaho homestead. From life and living and learning, bardominium renovations, DIY How To's and hacks to design ideas and recipes.

Another fabulous educational video. Thanks for sharing. Very interesting. I could feel the same emotions I'm sure you all felt. I love how you made it a community festival of sorts. Keep the videos coming. Love and miss you guys!!

My husband and I have been eyeing Idaho in hopes of living a similar lifestyle. Can you share how you found this community to teach you such things? We hope to be removed but somewhat close to a smallish community with similar values. Much appreciated!

Meghan, hi! Yes! That’s awesome. So there is a long a short answer for sure. Feel free to shoot us an email and we can give you the longer version: homesteadfashioned@gmail.com. We knew very little when we moved out here, just vision and a desire for something different for our family. We didn’t find community in one place, but really found community on many levels and in many different places.
