The choreography has improved immensely and I actually really enjoy it. Towards the end she looses energy and stops focusing on the choreo, but then again its podium training. Her turns and leaps have also improved - she's finally getting them around! I don't know what to think of the back tuck after her second pass though... Hmm... Even the slightest foot shuffle will get the connection discredited, but we'll see.
All these years later and I think about the fact she was even able to compete at all with all the agreegiou s things she was going through behind the scenes I don't think I could've done it. People wonder why she wasn't smiling during this season cause she was going through hell who would be smiling going through hell and trying to compete. Im ao glad she's back and hopefully gaining her love of the sport again and she's at WOGO and hopefully anna and Valerie can get her back on the road to nationals. I'm so happy for her
Acro: E,E,D,D Dance: D,D,D,D C.V: 0.3 (Provided that she managed to get that 0.2 connection in her 2nd tumbling pass, i'm afraid international judges are always too harsh on this). Total Difficulty Score: 6.2
Made that Memmel around!! I like this routine a lot more than just about any other one she's had. Still not the biggest fan, but I do admit that I am liking her a bit more. Thought she had two new passes, though... I see the back tuck out of the full-in.
I think the dance elements have gotten much better. They were smart to start with the switch ring half because when she's tired it's hard to hit the proper ring position. Now Im happy with the back tuck in the full in, but where are the upgrades. She could do a 1/2 to triple nice or even a piked arabian to stag jump. And she better throw that amanar.
I'm kindve disappointed actually I love the routine tho. I mean why all the BIG upgrade talk? do you think she'll upgrade at trials? or am I wishful thinking?
The reason I say this is that everyone is upgrading slowly. It wouldn't malet sense that she has know about Simone for 3 years and wasn't planning on beating her. She knows in order to beat Simone she's going have to bring out everything she has. There going upgrade vault that weekend. Added skills to beam and save floor for trails.
that ferrari is beautiful! I dont feel like that punch tuck was connected though, shell have to refine that i think. I know this is just podium training, but I wish she would dance like she likes her choreography. It could be super sassy, the choreo is good, but she seems bored by it. Anyway, its difficult enough to be competitive. Connect that tuck and shes now a contender on floor!
where are the real upgrades...having a double tuck and double pike in a routine is so sub par for a gymnast of this caliber. She needs her 1.5 to triple and she could easily make that Arabian piked
I see Gabby has a tricky time ending her turns. I hope an old ballet trick will help since she looks like she has sufficient flexibility & sometimes during the spin control including for her Y & L turns. The thought is to extend the lifted leg up & out for a suspension & stretch sending energy out in every direction at the end of the turn before coming out of it. That is to think up & out in every direction though especially up with the high leg instead of down & then stretching to get back to standing. Thinking also of an imaginary third leg parallel to the standing leg keeps the hips square & pulling up on both "legs" through the head keeps everything stacked. Since Gabby continues longer years, adding these harder spins saves her from the pounding & she seems to have the strength & flexibility.
She's definitely a better dancer now than in 2012. She's more of a performer, and has confidence in her movement, but that routine has some flaws that still need to be worked out. I really don't like her form in the 2nd tumbling pass. She doesn't set the first flip before she starts twisting, and has trouble making it around and then the extra back tuck doesn't look connected. Also, I liked it better when she did the 1.5 to triple twist. This routine is all variations of double backs. I like to see a variety of twisting and both backward and forward tumbling skills. Maybe if she did the 1.5 to double back, then she would at least still have a twisting tumbling skill ??? Good luck Gabby! Hope you can clean it up before Rio.
I love gabby and her gymnastics but she seems tired and just out of energy recently. I really hope she can turn it up for championships and trials. It's difficult watching her because she just seems so exhausted and not as excited to do gymnastics. It seems like her passion for gymnastics has kind of just fizzled away recently and I hope she gets it back because I don't think she deserves to go back to the olympics if she doesn't want it 100% like some of the other girls.
it was like she was so confused with her dance moves and she ran out of breath that back flip isnt much of an upgrade. my hopes was to high for u gabby. smh
One point about Gabby is she really can dance, and i know that its can be a little difficult for her because she got muscles from 2012 to now and it turns the body´s move more limited and difficult moves who need felxibility, BUT her choreo for this music is very nice, fast moves, and not just robotic moves like some USA´s gymnastics. Maybe im wrong, but i think she can challenge Biles using her floor rotuine, she has power to do excepcional moves and she can get high marks from artistic part. Just my opinionn
I LOVE THIS ROUTINE, I WISH THE TUMBLING WAS HARDER TO COMPETE WITH SIMONE BUT, WITH THAT BEING SAID I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS ROUTINE, PROBABLY MY FAVORITE ON TEAM USA
sorry but, nobody's competing with simone on difficulty. aly who won floor at the last olympics said her routine now is harder, but still not up there with simone's.
BAHAA Not even Aly can compete with Simone. You think Gabby can? No one can, especially on floor. Gabby is over hyped just because she was Olympic AA champ, she isn't as good, in my opinion.
+orange moonglows +orange moonglows I think it's pretty lame that you label anyone who isn't an uber Gabby fan = haters; which is total BS. I totally was rooting for her when she competed in London & stoked that she won & I was miffed that Aly wasn't awarded the bronze due to a stupid rule about tie-breakers. My issue with Gabby is the fact that as time has gone forward, she's not getting better/stronger/upgrading, but rather it's the opposite... I can't be the only person that noticed her 3rd pass was under rotated and thus she lands awkwardly. Her second pass needs work asap b/c that back tuck wasn't connected. Her turns take ages for her to do and the last 2 were meh.. It's like she's trying to augment the lack of tumbling difficultly by doing turns ala Mustafina, the problem is Russia doesn't have the depth the US has. Honestly, Gabby needs to do the Amanar if she wants a shot at this team. That's not being a hater, it's being a realist.
You have to think about how she's pacing herself, too. It doesn't look like she's too jazzed here (bored, etc.) and it shows in the dance, but they have 2 days here, a week of more training them trails, then a couple more weeks of training then camp and then more training and then the olympics. It could be these chicks are just TIRED! Why expend all of your energy during podium? Save it for the day, work on the problem areas and perform when it counts. I don't think we should judge until Saturday.
I'm sure she will bring upgrades and more expression. She is practicing and there is still some time and room for improvement for all the girls, not just Gabby.
Aww man that's sad i was soo hoping she could upgrade but it is what it is I guess. Let's just hope she can execute and have solid landings and actually connect that full in to that back tuck. But love Gabby!
+Smiley0815 Hopefully she will throw her anamar at trials her form is so crisp and she's been getting a better block lately not only that but she also twist very fast. I'm praying for her to make that team lol.
of course she looks bored...she ALWAYS does during PT, that's gabby. but I believe this routine is perfect for her, the restructure was genius and she's going to really amp up when it counts. her dance elements look a lot better too
Mel Hudson When u are the "reigning" Olympic All-Round Champion, scrutinizing comes easy. She'll step it up in competition especially during CHAMPIONSHIPS.
***** i agree and i hope she does. it's just annoying because the doubters know what she's capable of but won't let up. I'm excited and this FX looks really promising
Once again, think its nerves, not boredom, i think she does this odd thing where she tries to not make it a big deal so she's not overly nervous.. i'm the same way.
I just feel like Gabby is just no longer as passionate about gymnastics anymore as she used to if you notice during her routines sh doesn't have the same smile as before!😊😞
I think she's just matured. Gabby's grown so much since 2012 in her mindset and consistency. Plus, she wasn't having the best meet of her life; had a couple balance checks/breaks on beam and bars where she expected more from herself. Gabby would be nowhere near the level she's at right now if she wasn't truly passionate about her sport. To be away from gymnastics for over two years, then come back to be one of the top contenders for the Olympic team takes 100% passion.
Underwhelmed, just a bunch of tucks and pikes, complete lack of versatility. She's lost the flight in her tumbling. I like her, but she's already been to the olympics...hopefully Ragan or Laurie find a place on the team instead.
+Karl Warden True! The only person who I've seen properly connect it is Diana Chelaru of Romania at the Olympics during the qualification round. Unfortunately she went out of bounds so the connection wasn't really worth it. The speed of the connection was very good though!
+D Leo No unfortunately I don't know her, but that would be cool to see! All that I know is that a ton of the Chinese gymnasts rebound out of their triple twists but they do a front tuck instead of a back tuck.
OMG THE BEGINNING IS MUSIC FROM ZOOTOPIA. YAAAAS!!
I love the new floor routine it's amazing.
LOVEEEE this routine!!
omg the full in to back tuck whoa
I read this as it happened lol
love the new music! and glad she upgraded the 2nd pass! with a bit more practice it will look amazing!
I love the new floor routine/music!
Martha approves at 0:40. LOL
she's going to kill the heck out of this routine
I'm so glad she changed her music! And added some cool dance moves! :D
rooting for you gabby!
The way Marta is watchinv and just grinning is slightly creepy, yet very funny 😂😂
cant wait to see her perform this!!
Gabby is finally dancing and it shows! Her movements are really selling this routine
You've never seen a really good or even GREAT routine then.
+Kevin Jewell just pointing out her progress. If you can't see it then sucks to sucks
Love the routine!
better than ever
she is soooooooooooo talented
she is stronger ... i like her
Wow. I love that second pass
Vanessa Ferarri is proud!
Hahahha 😂
hmm I was expecting more!! I can't believe she is complacent with these tumbling passes especially all the upgrade talk. however I love the routine
I like it.

what level is she
Ah, new music! Not sure if I'm a fan yet. Love the upgrade on the full in! Very Vanessa Ferrari-esque :P
What's Gabby's D-score who knows.....?.
Acro: E,E,D,D Dance: D,D,D,D C.V: 0.3 (Provided that she managed to get that 0.2 connection in her 2nd tumbling pass, i'm afraid international judges are always too harsh on this). Total Difficulty Score: 6.2
Here 6.2
Thanks dear.
was this today the P and G championships
no its Friday and Sunday
i have a feeling that she will be closer to simone than anyone thinks. This all looks too easy for her. Good girl! Shine it out!
Ahahaha... no.
Made that Memmel around!! I like this routine a lot more than just about any other one she's had. Still not the biggest fan, but I do admit that I am liking her a bit more. Thought she had two new passes, though... I see the back tuck out of the full-in.
This is a nice routine for her. I like Gabby hair in that bun it looks natural and kool.
I know she will upgrade I'm not even worried
rico duncan Man I hope so. Im wondering if this is some type of strategy. I know she said she was bringing them out late but damn lol
+dahighbar yeah I think she will because brenna amd simone are not done upgrading and so is maggie
The reason I say this is that everyone is upgrading slowly. It wouldn't malet sense that she has know about Simone for 3 years and wasn't planning on beating her. She knows in order to beat Simone she's going have to bring out everything she has. There going upgrade vault that weekend. Added skills to beam and save floor for trails.
i don't mind this at all. skills looks higher, leaps look great in my opinion. can't wait to see it in competition

tbh i think she shouldnt do back pike + back tuck. she should get rid of back pike and do something harder, like her 1.5 stepout + triple twist.
Yeah I liked her 1.5 to triple as well. It added variety.
She should bring Back her triple full instead of the double pike!!!
disappionted
it was like she was so confused with her dance moves and she ran out of breath that back flip isnt much of an upgrade. my hopes was to high for u gabby. smh
+Jarelle Williams compared to 2012 she has come a long way I'm not worried at all!
+Jarelle Williams ok but simone amd brenna are not done upgrading neither is Maggie

lol. gabby has so many haters, and people who still don't wanna accept that she outright won her title. suck it hater.

right...whatever....
I love the brazillian music

GOD! NOT ONE OF THOSE VANESSA FERRARI COMBOS! IT'S KILLING ME!

I totally agree with you!
d-score 6.2
gabby still has the double back+split jump ot will bump up to a 6.3 d score
It's already a 6.3. Adding the split jump doesn't do anything though.
That is not gabby Douglas
of course she looks bored...she ALWAYS does during PT, that's gabby. but I believe this routine is perfect for her, the restructure was genius and she's going to really amp up when it counts. her dance elements look a lot better too
i completely agree!!! tbh i don't think any of the gymnasts give high energy during PT but she's always the one everyone comes down on lol
I agree!
She looks bored competing too. Floor is meh, but especially on beam.

And pose pose pose pose, jump, pose pose pose pose... Weak tumbling and she looks bored as hell. Ick to the whole thing.
go back and watch ALL her PT videos. she always looks tired and bored. she will bring it when it counts
She looks bored during competition as well; it doesn't change.
+mrsjojo xoxo absolutely!
Once again, think its nerves, not boredom, i think she does this odd thing where she tries to not make it a big deal so she's not overly nervous.. i'm the same way.
You're always so negative. Get a life.
6.3 SV. not bad at all
of course she has to get credit for everything first
She seriously needs to put the triple full back in...that double tuck has got to go...
Her dancing is soooo cringeworthy. Wish she was having more fun, but guess she's just focusing on focusing.
Ha! Great way to put it. Focused on focusing.
interesting
NOT BAD HOPE SHE WILL BE ON THE PODIUM WITHOUT HER AMANER....GOOD LUCK.
she actually did it but wanted to keep it away from social media and surprise everyone
+Gymnastics 101 how do you know this
+Jarelle Williams taht DTY can be a warm up that yhey posted instead of the amanar because it looked like she was warming up for an amanar
so you dont know that she did the amanar?
I just feel like Gabby is just no longer as passionate about gymnastics anymore as she used to if you notice during her routines sh doesn't have the same smile as before!😊😞

I love Gabby, but she looks bored as hell!!!
she looks nervous to me.
bc is a training...
I like that she's going for that connection on her her second pass, but whether or not she'll get credit is iffy
Also basically losing the connection tenth by not sticking the back tuck with that one tenth hop...
+Karl Warden True! The only person who I've seen properly connect it is Diana Chelaru of Romania at the Olympics during the qualification round. Unfortunately she went out of bounds so the connection wasn't really worth it. The speed of the connection was very good though!
