Not the hardest routine, but I think Marta knowing that she could use Maddie in a pinch on floor will up her chances of making it over Ashton. It will be very interesting to see what they decide!
The music is the opening solo from the ballet Carmen. Maddie's choreography here actually has a similar feel to the ballet's choreography which I really like.
Anyone have any idea what this would have scored had she performed it the same way during competition? No clue how to count D or deductions but still curious!
What was the point of changing the music if she was going to change almost none of the original choreography? As for the floor itself it was alright, she could use a little more grace in the movements but it's podium training, not competition yet.
+Chanel Oberlin see, I never liked khorkinas gymnastics. i of course have much respect for her, but as many don't like the muscular power gymnasts, to me khorkina was too "gangly" and stick thin, bones protruding and looked like she would just break. But...we all have our own opinions. and Maddie is far from the first to use a piece of music used by another gymnast

Some were only branded as elegant because of her figure, but there are some real classically beautiful routines in her repertoire. Her 1994 floor is one of my favorites, but it seems to me that the poise of her performance decreased toward the end of her career.
+kamila Ford like I said I absolutely respect what she was able to accomplish. and yes, i would say it was more towards the end of her career she just looked sick. too sickly skinny. Her vault always looked extremely "awkward" to me also, but she won medals so my opinion matters none. your right, some of her work was great, but I guess her ending is what sticks in my mind

+Pamela Dishman I disagree .. Maddie and Ashton are both neck and neck on bars and beam .. But madding is a defending world champion and has a good floor and vault aswell .
Maddie definitely has an edge compared to Ashton because she has better floor, beam and vault but can she survived the Martha's camps before the Olympics LOL

I'm wondering if there is a reason there are no PT virrod of Ashton? I've seen her in the background on several others, just not her training

Close to Gabby is difficulty..sadly Gabby never upped her D-score on floor, where she needed it most.

She is so disconnected to music. I feel sorry for her. Good gymnastics though. #myopinion
