Thumbs up if you think Weird Al Yankovic should be in the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame.
Absolutely! He's outlived everyone he's parodied!
Mark Tatum
Exactly.
Me and my dad have a very complicated relationship, and this is one of the only things we are able to bond over
:/
That one who lives in Narnia
May be you should try to find more things that you and your dad have in common, and probably your relationship would bring you and your dad closer together. By the way keep the thumbs up coming.
CanadaDragon1 We have stuff in common, its just hard for us. He gets distracted a lot, sometimes forgets he even has kids, and on vacations where my mom isn't there I have to take care of my little bro by myself half the time. But anyway you're pretty nice :]
The interesting thing about Weird Al is that he's outlasted many of the artists he's parodied.
yess
wich hes copying
...wow...
"As long as there are bands turning out hits,
Weird Al will be waiting to tear them to bits."
- VH1's Behind the Music

Gun clicks, they are now
i see this on every Weird Al video.......
Jesse Montgomery with you there. Been a fan for around thirty years now and he just seems more funny now. Funny he was valedictorian of his high school at 16, too.
Definatly
Weird Al calls up Kurt and asks if he can parody his song. Lurt asks why? Weird Al says I don't understand any of the lyrics. Kurt said OK . After Kurt died , one of his journals contained , in a margin, Weird Al is a musical genius. R.I.P. Kurt
@Wynn Wynn I have often wondered that myself. Have a great day, be well and stay safe.
Kurt also asked Al if the parody is about food
@@Floppy_Bacon I heard that once, but forgot. Thanks for the reminder. Be well and stay safe.

You do the same my friend.
LONG LIVE WEIRD AL!!

I knew “Amish Paradise“ before I knew “Gangsta's Paradise“.
CurryKingWurst me too!
Lol same
The first time I heard gangsta's paradise was in the Sonic trailer
I liked Amish Paradise better then the original Ganstas Paradise.
Same here. Pretty sad when the parody is better known than the original song.
I am amazed Weird Al has been able to stay culturally relevant for over 40 years.
Usually, they die by 1 year- HELLO, JUSTIN BEIBER!
I’m not. Born in 84. Still watch him.
@@dididothat2245 Born in 1957...and ALSO still love watching him! Been watching every chance I get since he was on Dr. Dimento's radio show back in the 70's!!!
Amish paradise.
He doesn't seem to age either.
Weird Al never 'targets' anyone! He gets permission from the artists in question. Also, most consider it a badge of honor to have Al parody a song.
EXACTLY...THAT is how you know that you MADE IT!
Sure you could have your song get to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, But you haven’t really made it until You’ve been asked by Weird Al Yankovic himself to make a parody of your song.
It's more of a question of Who has earned the honor of having Al parody them
All but prince…
princeless...
Had rumor, that on one of MJs parodies, MJ himself provided some tips & guidance.... rumor, probably, but nice to think it could be true.
Kurt Cobain (1967-1994), the lead singer of "Nirvana", considered it an honor when "Weird" Al Yankovic asked him if he could spoof "Smells Like Teen Spirit". However, Cobain asked "Um... it's not gonna be about food, is it?" Yankovic responded "No, just about no one understanding the lyrics!" Cobain and Nirvana loved the video, and Cobain called Yankovic "a musical genius"!
robynn NICE!
You all have your favorites, my favorite Weird Al song will always be "Smells Like Nirvana". Made me laugh out loud first time i heard it during my college days, it still does 25 years later.
A number of people considered it a badge of honour and the true mark of "I've made it in the music biz" when Weird Al parodied one of their songs.
As for "Smells like Nirvana", that bit with the guitar (at 8:37 in this video) will never be not funny.
Nirvana actually plaid the song for Weird Al’s Video.
@@Luubelaar Weird Al covers are the musical equivalent of a South Park celebrity rendition.
He who is tired of weird al is tired of life.
You just need to watch more wierd al yankovic
Amen
I've met weird al himself he is an amazing smart person I didn't know he has a PhD in architecture
That makes him an artist in parody, and structure.
yoshilovercheeta word
“Tacky”, parody of Pharrell Williams’ “Happy”. Proof that Weird Al never loses sight of popular trends and keeps up to date.
Foil is my all-time fav to this date.
Ambee Gaming me, too. Got that album and that song is played, a lot.
Mike Nahmias love his video, too. Al only sings the beginning and the end. Lots of his celebrity pals do during the song, itself.
Love that video. I want the outfit he has on at the beginning of it
What Weird Al song do you like better
Like: Amish Paradise

So why don't they make a second list?
Elizabeth Alvarado Beats me, I didn't do the video.
+Deevo037 Give him 20, at best.
All his songs are amazing. One cannot simply CHOOSE a list of favorites. Weird Al will always be a legend.
Seriously? He's been around since 1976, and he's still going strong! How is he new to you?
...I'm not even going to bother with whatever it is you just said there.
torch moon You should probably go back to your english class in first grade and relearn how to type in proper english.
Trixie Lulamoon he likes music that gives inspiration.
Pertrinkrey You guys are mean. Al wouldn't have approved of your comment.
If you EVER get a chance to see Weird Al live - do it. One of the best concerts you will ever see. I've seen a lot of legit bands - legends even. Weird Al delivers.
Franklandish saw him live in 1995. It was amazing!!!!
I've seen him in concert twice. The first time he did "Fat" as an encore -- in the complete fat suit.
@@davidroddick91 Seen him four times, excellent every time. True story: last time my wife and I saw him, he sat on her lap for a stretch while singing "Wanna B Ur Lovr"
He'll yes! Saw him years ago in Tucson. I'm fat was new and his fat suit looked so real. He changed costume after each song at amazing speed.
Frank Bergdoll yes he does a great showman
"Frank, these people aren't here for you" "well then why are they here" "weird al yankovic is on the plane".
josh ThisIsStupid thank you for this.
They talked about that scene in "I Love the 80's 3D-1988"
@Austin Lucksted - first NAKED GUN, actually. In the teaser, Drebbin takes on a bunch of Middle Eastern baddies lead by Muammar Gaddafi, then flies back home to what he thinks is a public reception for him -- only it's for Weird Al instead.
weird Al for the Super Bowl halftime show
+Wes C-W Oh, yes! That would absolutely MAKE the Super Bowl!
Then he can totally sing the "Sport Song"!
That would be super awesome because Weird Al is my #1 Favorite Singer

I met Weird Al at Pensacon in February 2020...I told him my favorite line in all of his songs he ever made came from his original song "One More Minute" The lyric goes: "You left me all alone at the gas station of love, and now I have to use the self service pump" ... He laughed, and commended me for remembering that song...
#1: Amish Paradise
#2: Smells like nirvana
#3: Fat
#4: Word Crimes
#5: White and Nerdy
If you don't think that Amish Paradise was the best, then you shouldn't be looking at a video screen, because it means that you are obviously Amish yourself.
Insensitive jokes aside, I loved Amish Paradise. Smells Like Nirvana is a close second for me though.
Living with a hernia?
What about The Saga Begins
I don't know, but Amish Paradise is unquestionably No.1 for me :D
eat it and his others are amazing, but without a down amish paradise is my beyond favorite and listen to it all the time
Eat it was no. 1
@NCC13 - Agree. For me, Amish Paradise is #1 and Saga Begins is #1.5. I also really like his Ebay song.
Why is Amish Paradise so many people’s favorite. It was always my favorite on the classics album too.
Yes
Party in the CIA is brilliant. And I say this as someone who has been a Weird Al fan since the 80s. Because I was born in the 70s.

Trapped in the Drive-Thru should have been on this list.

watsap147 it's a parody of R. Kelly's trap in the closest
watsap147 R. Kelly - Trapped In The Closet Chapter 1
Victoria Hayden That song is awesome
His lasting legacy will be his incredible ability to take flavor-of-the-month pop songs, and, create parodies that are timeless, and, are remembered long past the expiration date of the originals.
It’s honestly insane. You can go to any one of the songs on this list and there are comments from days ago, even some of the less famous one have very recent comments
I love in the “smells like nirvana” when Weird Al bends the guitar and says some random noise (8:38)
He's one of the longest running singers of all time.... going on 40 years.
I don't know how old he is but I discovered him on late night radio. Dr. Demento. I think I was 12- 13 and I am 49 now. So yeah. I wasn't supposed to be listening to the radio but I was a rotten child.
Weird Al is 57 years old now and doesn't look anywhere near that old.
Laughing doesn't make your face have lines. It makes your face smoother. That's why he looks so great. Never act like an adult!
Not even close to be the longest running of all time. Vera Lynn has had a 87 year carreer
"Amish Paradise" will forever be my #1 Weird Al song. For you see, many years ago I was driving my best friend home on a dark and lonely country road. Suddenly, "Amish Paradise" began playing on the stereo. Within a few bars of the music I began singing along. So perfect was my rendition that I reproduced every word, every intonation and every inflection of the great Al in a way that could only be described as masterful. Not missing beat or lyric, this continued throughout the entire performance. When it had finished, there was a moment of deafening silence in the vehicle. Then, with lustful eyes, she looked at me and uttered two words "I'm wet". She is the only woman I have ever sung "Amish Paradise" to, and for as long as we both live, that moment will never be forgotten.
Possibly the best RUclips comment ever. I salute you, aaroncake.
I don't care what happens. I am singing this to a girl some day.
This is the best comment I have ever seen
My, my, getting fancy are we?
That's deep mah niggah.
The best one is obviously Amish Paradise😂

White & Nerdy was even better, but Amish Paradise is a close 2nd
Amish paradise makes me laugh so much, even though I’ve watched it a bazillion
@@wizardfellow. Same
I'm surprised Handy isn't on the list. Or Yoda for that matter. But W&N was just a classic.
Trapped in the Drive Thru is king of extremely long music
I had to pause the video and spend about a minute laughing . Having worked at a fast food restaurant I have a different perspective on the video.
Albuquerque is a competitor
My choice too
Albuquerque is about half a minute longer.
Benedict Brophy yeah. I’m a burqueña so I just laugh my head off.
We need "Another Top Ten Weird Al Parodies"
fuck yeh we do
Mojo didn't even have honorable mentions in the video (not like there's a dearth of Weird Al parodies to choose from)
yup
I agree they didnt even have UHF on the count down
Yeah cause they forgot party in the cia
I mostly agree with this list but I'd have made "Amish Paradise #1"
I agree
+Count Penta Too, that video is hilarious
That's what I thought when I first saw it
+Count Penta I think so to

Weird Al is a genius at parody. Nobody - and I mean NOBODY - can touch him or even get close to him. His skill is at a level that should be considered iconic.
Amish Paradise
Do you guys party like its 1699?
The problem with this top 10 is that it should be redone after every new album from Weird Al
+ClaudiusValentine His songs aren't as good as they used to be due to the fact that most of today's popular songs are crap. Weird Al has always been about parodying mostly songs that are current radio hits.
+Rawk4Life It's not that his songs aren't as good, but the songs he parodies aren't.
+ClaudiusValentine Foil and Word Crimes were pretty good.
+Thomas Riley but not really top 10 worthy
+Rawk4Life that is so true!
I played "Smells Like Nirvana" for my English class (satire unit) and my teacher said aloud "no wonder Kurt Cobain killed himself."
+Lucky Lucas Did he know that Kurt agreed to let Al do it as long as he got to back them up on guitar?
+Lucky Lucas That's hilarious AND Depressing
DTD110865 I did not know that. That's interesting.
Oh my god :O that's both funny and disturbing I don't know what to do so I'll just do this XD
+Lucky Lucas Actually, When Weird Al approached Kurt about parodying his song, he said
"It's not gonna be about food is it?"
To which Al replied "no it's gonna about how no one can understand the lyrics."
And when he showed the video to Nirvana, they were laughing hysterically.
The only thing this video is missing is your standard "Honorable Mentions" category. There are SO many, that a top 10 list is just historically inaccurate and unfair.
There is a second video with another top 10
I lost on Jeopardy with with Greg Kinh, sp?, driving.
You haven't made it in the music biz until you get parodied by Weird Al!
I would be interested in his take on our song "Going Under..."
So true this; he doesn't parody just ANY Thom Dick and Harry
What makes Weird Al brilliant is his attention to detail and timeliness. He's also very pointed. Many of his early parody videos would draw stares and criticism today. But that doesn't stop him, thank goodness.
yeah well he has a very high IQ he graduated high school when he was turning 16 cause he started school in the 2nd grade. This made him turn out being very well versed and sharp, you can tell just by his music lol. EDIT: i forgot to mention what is crazy is that they wont enter him into the rock n roll hall of fame cause they don't consider him to be a "real musician" which is just ridiculous and outrageous just considering his accolades.
And he can actually sing and rap extremely well.
My favourite is definitely "Foil" and "Amish Paradise", but also I really liked "Word Crimes".
Foil is completely awesome and his funniest parody.
Foil is also musically tantalizing… my fav
You and I would be good friends
Word crimes is pure genius
He’s like the Jim Carey of music 🤣
Quidmonster isnt that just steve terreberry
Except Jim Carrey isn’t always funny.
Except he's not a deluded asshole.
Weird Al is still funny, Jim Carey went down hill as soon as he went political.
@@marioxmariox But now Jim Carrey its Dr.Robotnik
Weird Al is the most Iconic music artist out today. Everyone between Country artists to Rock to Rap have high respect for him. I've been listening to him since "Eat It", and I'll never stop.
i still think his Amish Paradise is the best, followed up close by white and nerdy.
For me I think The Saga Begins is his best parody, after that I would say Amish Paradise would be next
This list will need to be redone soon, with at least one of the 8 new songs, Word Crimes belongs on this list.
CURSE YOU FOR STEALING MY COMMENT!

IroniqEleganceX Not stealing, we came up with the same idea ;)
i personally think he should have made a video for "inactive"
that song was done so perfectly and i know the video would have been hilarious!
"inactive" is a parody of "radioactive" by imagine dragons
Also, Achy Breaky Song has always held a place in my heart.
Eat it. Just eat it. If it gets too cold, re-heat it.
I think White and Nerdy wrote itself when he heard the original.
I love all these Weird Al Yankovic songs. They're all hilarious and the most funniest song is "Smells Like Nirvana."
Yep
Because he does parodies most people would never even think he did live shows let alone consider seeing one. Al and his band are absolutely flawless in their musicianship. Eagles flawless. Heart flawless. Flat out awesome!
one of the most brilliant things about his old days were his shot-for-shot parodies of the original music videos. It added an extra layer to the comedy that cant hit home as much nowadays due to the death of the music video
I'd have to rank the top 3 in this order:
1. White and Nerdy
2. Amish Paradise
3. Smells Like Nirvana
They are all good, but his earlier ones don't stand up as well to me.
depandes who you ask
***** No, I was an 1980's young teenager. I just like the spoofy lyrics better for those three I listed.
Saga Begins should definitely be somewhere in the top 3
@@NoseyNick I agree
Weird Al needs a Top 50 list, not a Top 10. Almost all of his many videos are wonderful. For example, watch Chapter 1 of R. Kelly's Trapped In the Closet, then watch Al's Trapped in the Drive-Thru. Or watch Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit (with and without lyrics) then watch Al's Smells Like Nirvana (with and without lyrics). You can do all that right here at RUclips.
Living with a Hernia is a really good one too. I'm very sure just like the Nirvana parody, that he used the same backing vocalists as James Brown did
I heard "Another One Rides the Bus" on the radio way back when it came out. loved it. also used to hear him regularly on Doctor Demento. Amish Paradise still my favorite.
the FIRST list that I COMPLETELY agree with and don't feel like hitting you guys with bat afterwards...VERY well done!
Amish Paradise is the best, every time I hear Gangster Paradise I hear these lyrics XD
i'm surprised they don't use that song on Amish Mafia show
chuck findlay lol true
COUCH POTATO IS WEIRD AL'S BEST PARADOY!!!!!! COUCH POTATO!!!!!
he chit good one. i prefer Ebay overall.
I live 20 minutes from Amish country aka Lancaster Pa. That was one of my favorite Weird Al videos and like you said every time I hear Coolio's version I sing the lyrics to Al's.
I saw him a number of years back. I've been a fan of his for a very long time. I listened to him when he first came on the Dr. Demento radio show. His lyrics are clean and you could even bring your children to his concert. Before they died he had his parents introduce him on stage. I hope he doesn't retire. Weird Al Rules!!!👏👍👍👍
its almost impossible not to laugh or even just smile while listening to Weird Al and marvel at his lyrical wizardry to think all these up :) long live Weird Al
I saw Weird Al (and his band, which is incredible) during their Off the Deep End Tour (when "Smells Like Nirvana" was their big hit). Al had a stage-version of the Fat Suit that he got into during a 2-3-minute break between songs. I was less than 20 feet from him, and let me tell you, that suit looked GOOD, and he was moving around like a nut! That man puts on one hell of a show!
His new stuff is pretty great too.

I remember this every few months and it makes me happy.
Weird Al had permission from Coolio's record label. He was under the impression that Coolio was cool with it, and didn't find out how badly Coolio, who thought Al had just gone ahead and done it even knowing Coolio didn't want him to, had reacted until after the song had released. Coolio later apologized to Al over the misunderstanding.
coolio is just a cry baby and a one hit wonder, weird al is a musical genius.
Some interesting trivia about “Eat it”: Not only were Weird Al and Michael Jackson good friends off stage, but when collaborating on “Eat It”, Michael leased the original sets and rehired the original actors from “Beat It” for Weird Al. What a charitable person, that King of Pop.
That moment when Coolio gets mad a Weird Al for parodying Gangstas Paradise even tho Coolio took is from Stevie Wonders Pastime Paradise.
Thank you.
Eugene Liver Thank you!!
Ya its pretty hilarious for someone to get mad at a cover of a cover of a cover
Really? Thank you for the info. I love gangsters paradise but did not know it was a copy.
Besides the fact being parodied by Weird Al is an honor. Coolio was the original gay fish.
Pretty Fly for a Rabbi anyone?
Just a Jew, passing through.

That's my favorite only because I'm an Offspring fan.
+thomas bro100 Me too!
You mean Death Cab for a Cutie?
Gotta love Weird Al. I love all of his parodies. The man is a genius!
Supposedly Michael Jackson not only approved of Weird Al’s parody, but actually gave him the address of the subway station where he filmed the Bad so he can film it in there.
White and Nerdy was the song that introduced me to Weird Al and I even have that song on my phone playlist
We made that song our theme song in my high school AP English class.
Nate On Fire 13 Liar, liar pants On Fire 13: You're lying because you know after further knowledge and research that "eat it" is his first major hit.

Don't know how he got away with the butter churning part of Amish Paradise.
Some people don’t realize what happens with the milk churn, LOL
Many people don’t notice the video but I always hide it from my sister. 🤦🏻♀️

I never noticed that Key and Peele are in "White and Nerdy."
Well, how cool is that?
Another one rides the bus should be number 1. Anyone who can parody so musically Queen on accordion is a genius.
Deathly King's third explosive, *Rides The Bus!*
Imagine Kira get hit by a bus instend of the Ambulance
It's pure, it's quaint, minimalist and very ironic.
Weird Al is a musical genius. Love him.
White and nerdy, is the greatest song ever
What impresses me, about that song, is that Al rapped all that, without missing a beat!

WORD CRIMES
Word Crimes is The BEST
Word Crimes should absolutely be on the list. What, both honorable mentions?
+Snowyowlgames That is true. The WatchMojo Top 10 list was released in 2013. Weird Al's Mandatory Fun was released at the end of 2014.

Yup its 10/10
Weird Al Yankovic´ talent is true gift for humanity.
Always good listening when I find myself taking life too seriously.
Have to give HUGE props to the musicians as well. So many genres and very often dead on reproductions of the original tracks.
When you said like a surgeon wasn't his idea I was thinking of Ted Mosby
Omg same
trapped in the drive thru? definitely one of my top favs of weird al
What is that a parody of?
Trapped in the Closet by R. Kelly
+Rhoda Carino Thanks.
+Rhoda Carino I love it, especially because that is my side of Gen. X exactly...
I love the parodies. I think Al's genius is most evident in his originals. Although, pairing the unplugged ambiance and guitar riffs of Layla with Micheal Jackson's melody and Al's own lyrics for Eat It (which I saw in the Mandatory Fun concert) was truly inspired. Loved it!
Al is a national treasure.
This easily could've been a top 20.
This easily could have been a top 50.
It would be a top 36473882827
Nothing can beat the white n nerdy one for me haha
Weird All is a national treasure if not international. Love his videos. They put a smile on my face.
I grew up with him and so did my kids. It's awesome that we all love him.
Man, how can you guys not put Gump on here? Hilarious and a double-whammy parody at the same time!
Gump is on Another Top 10 Weird Al Parodies. 😀😃
Personally, I think a top 10 is nowhere near enough for this guy. Just about every single parody he does is pure genius. If you've never seen him in concert, but, get the opportunity to, definitely go for it. You will not regret it.
I used to be a pinball freak.
That’s where you’d find me every week.
But now it’s Pac-Man! Yeah, it’s the Pac-Man!
The first concert I took my daughter to as a teenager was Weird Al. And to this day we’ve gone to every concert he’s had in the Seattle area.
The Saga Begins should have been number 1.
no , the saga begins shouldn't even be on the list .
Jamesi03 In what way is it not a parody?
Jamesi03 It certainly isn't a pardoy, you're right. It definitely is a parody though. It parodies American Pie by turning a very serious song into a silly one with a silly video, often with direct references to the original lyrics, and it parodies the Star Wars prequels by condensing the plot of the Phantom Menace into some silly lyrics that rightly make the whole movie seem absurd.
Jamesi03 It's only spoofing " the Phantom Menace " , not all 3 prequels .
Jamesi03 A parody is something that takes the original lyrics of a song and changes them into something humorous. The Saga Begins is humorous, so it is a parody.
3:19 That awkward moment when you actually notice that Weird Al looks handsome without his glasses and moustache.
I love this guy, some of his parodies sound better than the original song itself.
The one that cracks me up the most was Like a Surgeon. I LMAO everytime Weird Al imitates Madonna's moves!😂
