I have to go watch another review of this tool so I can see how it handles load. That's why we need to hear the tool function. Don't need all that music.
@@danielrice5474 You're a weird one... Creative control resides in the hands of the maker. As for what sounds the tool makes that isn't as important as finding out how many people have positive experiences with said tool. He could have a tool that sounds and works fine, but that what about the next guy? Also he does turn the music off at at least one point.
Hey Joe, I will post the vid this week. It should be simple like posting a comment on the vid and getting you name pulled or something. Look for the vid this week, and I will post on insta when the vid is up
The inability to hear the tool operating during most of the tasks really detracts from what would otherwise be an incredibly helpful video. Please don't use music in the future.
I have a follow-up note for you re: the detent pin. On viewing the video a second time, I discovered that you DO have the detent pin on this impact. Maybe you weren't aware, but all impact sockets have a hole in the side down at the point where you put the socket on the square drive (or anvil). I noticed at 5:15 in that you put the socket on, but did not line up the detent pin with that side hole I just spoke of. The detent pin is pointed, so only a small part of the pin's surface actually makes contact with the "divot" on the inside of the socket at the square drive, which would leave the socket loose and might permit it to come off in use. Try lining up the pin with that hole to see if it doesn't provide a more secure fit. You may also need a thin rod (or nail with the tip cut off) to disengage the socket when removing it. You may not, as the pin wasn't designed properly. Rather than pointed, the pin should be a uniform diameter with a squared-off tip and protrude a bit further out. I suspect this was a compromise to still allow easy on-off of the socket. Maybe if we complain, they'll change that.
SteveR I have the dcf899 with the detente anvil and I agree with the Alignment of the hole and detente provided a best hold. I was aware of the issue with the difficulty of removing it with out a tool and that almost got me to purchase the hog ring but after getting it I have no issues. It provides the best amount of resistance and will not have sockets falling off due to a friction fit hog ring...
Just bought mine yesterday. I like it a lot. Mine has a tapered detent and it holds good enough for me. I did notice my particular socket has a rather large detent hole so there is quite a bit of play. A different socket might fit more snug but as long as the socket stays on when setting it down and picking it back up is all I need. I normally hold onto the socket when placing over the lug nuts as well as removal.
When you have it in precision control in reverse.. there is no variable trigger? it just goes full blast when you touch it(like on/off switch not variable)? But in forward precision control its variable. also when in reverse "low" has the same no load speed as high? but in forward they are much different? At least that is how my dcf894 wrench is acting.. very different than my dcf899 can you confirm yours acts this way too. Thanks.
I'm a complete noob to impact wrenches but does this have the power to put lag bolts into 2 inches of concrete after I drill a hole with an SDS Hammer drill? Again complete noob here.
in another video i seen this wouldnt pull a axle nut off a import my 3/8 ir timax will pull those i do it at least once a week how well will this remove f450 lug nutz or say a small dump truck lug nutz
How would you say this wrench would do against Rusty suspension bushing bolts?? I was up in the air I this price range between this DeWalt and the Kobalt 24v 600lb torque
Why in the US are they labelled as 20v when they are actually 18v as marketed in the rest of the world? Is it like the "I am driving a 2022 model Mustang" when in reality the same car in the rest of the world it's the 2021 model because you brought/it was built it in 2021.... Sure they say it's the model as sold 2022 but you can't sell it as the 2022 model if it's built 2021. 😉
Supposedly, this model comes with a detent pin on the square drive, yet you clearly have a hog ring or ball end. What gives? I want the detent pin, which is safer; the socket won't fly off in high-torque situations
I got the DCF894 and was considering the bigger Dewalt DCF899 but glad went with the smaller DCF894. It handles everything I need to do very well. Lug nuts, lag screws, you name it. I broke my 1/4 inch DCF887 driver because I was trying to do to much with it and it's now in for repair.
Home Depot just had it for 89 just had to grab it to add to my platform and that price was with the xr 4 amp battery charger and bag could not pass it up 👍
Dewalt owns MAC tools. Their batteries are interchangeable and they have had this model for quite awhile. Mac may only be 3/8 though, not sure. I'm sure the Dewalt is much more economical for most people, though.
Yup precision wrench, when tightening a lug it will drive it until it's snug then briefly pause before impacting allowing you to run lugs on without over doing them. In reverse it goes full power as soon as you press the trigger until the lug is loose then it cuts to low speed so you don't loose your lugs from flying off the stud at full speed.
Lag bolts are a bad demonstration for this impact it is not very fast. It shines in low speed high torque applications trust me the 894 is nowhere close to a 1/4.
@@tfr6 Umm yes it is? Or am I mistaken by the "Made in the USA" part of that wording? I guess you think because it says made with global parts its made overseas? Thanks for the awesome comment Mike! Yeah, I was looking back on some vids and they just seemed dull without music. It a bit more time consuming, but I like it better.
Problem is its 1/2 inch. They wont release it as a 3/8 drive because that one is reserved for mac tools and they will sell you pretty much the same tool for $100 more
SearchingforSignalLLC 😂 i own a mid torque its a joke 😂 not even close to 600 maybe 250ftlbs. My1/2” compact rated for 210 is just as strong and faster. Mid torque is was a HUGE letdown for me . Just sits in my tool box
Mean O’ Dustino oddly, I use my mid torque all the time, it's my go to wrench... now that I have the 1/2 stubby, that might not be so true anymore but the MT does exactly what they say it is supposed to do... if yours doesn't do the work, may be it has a problem. Mine is perfect. I tried the DEWALT MT and it is very smooth to use... gr8 impact too, perhaps even better then... Mils. But as an Milwaukee fanboy, I prefer Milwaukee's MT :)
I wanna buy an impact wrench but also periodically use it as an impact driver. You can get hex attachments for the 1/2 square anvil. Just wondering if this is a dumb idea or not? Why not have more torque !?

Hi Rand. Yes, it still gives you the 1/2 second in reverse, but goes the full rpm. Not just you buddy
With impact wrenches the metric most people want to know before purchasing is how much nut busting torque you used to remove the lug nuts.
Music during the intro is fine but not during the review.

Good review, audio a bit staticy but watchable.

It takes off my full size truck wheels easily
