A road trip around Newfoundland can be filled with rich experiences founded on a history so deep it's palpable. Or it can be as simple as driving out the highway for an hour to take a selfie in front of the Dildo sign. This video focuses on the latter, touching on 40 great locations across the island for quick-shot fun.
This video highlights some of the most Instagramable locations around the province, from Rose Blanche, to Corner Brook, to Bonavista, to Jellybean Row in St. John's. To be sure, there's some impressive history in some of these destinations, but we can talk about that in other videos. We're keeping things light and fun for today.
If you're interested in learning more about the rich history of some of those places around Newfoundland that are worthy of a time commitment of more than a few minutes, watch these videos:

"Start in Mount Pearl" Haha, ... a sweet spot just off the beaten path by Placentia is Ship Harbour, there is a site there where Roosevelt and Churchill began the Atlantic Charter in 1941. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos Mark !!
Thanks for this video. Soon I'll be there with my family. I'm going as an international student. I'm nervous and thrilled about it!
Awesome! Where will you be studying?
@@mark_royle_newfoundland At CNA
That's a great school with a lot of great programs. All the best with your studies!
@@mark_royle_newfoundland Thanks so much!
So excited to visit! We are going to see “ Come from away” in Gander!
That's great! Hope you got your tickets already!
As an American who's been to Newfoundland six times, I'd heartily recommend L'Anse aux Meadows. It combines history, scenery, and really good presentations by the park guides.
I don’t know if I’ll make it there this summer but I will get there!
Foster's Point or Weybridge as it is called now. Took mother 'home' about 30 years ago. One of the more Blessed experiences of my life. The joy and memories that she experienced was beyond comprehension. Small cemetery with my great grandfather and mother.
I just searched for Weybridge (and Foster’s Point to see if it still comes up… it does!) Looks like it’s on Random Island, correct? I can definitely make a stop in there happen this summer. Thank you for the suggestion.
This video is awesome and deserves alot more views, and im sure it will get alot more. My wife is originally from Moretons Harbour and im originally from Leading Tickles. Every summer we take a trip somewhere in NL. We have lived a few places in Newfoundland and Labrador, currently living in Lewisporte area. There is nowhere else in the world i would rather live. Enjoyed the video, keep up the good work !!
Thank you! Leading Tickles is high on my list to visit. My cousin (by marriage) is from there and I might finally get there next month. I'm definitely coming through Lewisporte. Is there anything specific I need to see or any place I need to visit in the area?
🎉thanks for the awesome ideas!
My pleasure! When are you coming??
In july :D hopefully there will still be some icebergs left? 😆
I would like to go to the Stone Jug in Carbonear - I hear it's one of the oldest stone houses to still exist in Canada. We are considering a place there.
Unless it has been re-consecrated in recent years, the church in Quidi Vidi is a private residence. I had a prof who lived there in the 80s when I attended MUN. (Looked like a deck out back in your aerial shot)
Jeez you’re right. I was way off. I’m either just mixing my church info up or else I’m out to lunch
Next trip you should go back to stephenville but continue to cape st george, there is a sort of park and views of the massive cliffs on the coast line
Puffins? PUFFINS??? for real? that’s awesome! ❤️
….and wow! what an incredible province!
Thank you so much for sharing it with us!
Very informative video, thanks for sharing. I’m planning a trip to NL. I like those I love NL signs in Dear Lake and Port aux Basques but I can’t locate them on Google maps. I wanna stop there as well. Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you for watching, I really appreciate you. There is one sign right outside the main doors of the Deer Lake airport. The 1 in Port aux Basques is near where cars come into the town when they come off the ferry. I can’t remember the name of the street, but there were quite a few businesses around so it seems like a busy area. I’m sure if you’re actually in Port aux Basques you’ll come up on it. I hope that helps!
Excellent travel video! NL is high up in my bucket list.
Fly fishing on the Grand Codroy River. No better place .
Thumbs up for Dildo, Canada! ❤👍😊
Go to Burgeo Sand Banks Provincial Park.
Thanks! That is absolutely on my list for 2024. I've been to a few really nice beaches around the island but all reports say this one is the best by far
@@mark_royle_newfoundland It has about 7 miles of beach if you include going up towards Big Barsway . The Beach has breaks in the shoreline so you'll have to go by boat to see it all. But there's about 5 beaches that are easily accessible. Lots of ground to cover. Nice look out over the park ranger's shack. You'll see the lookout sign as your descending the hill before the Park rangers shack to the right hand side. There's trails that take you to the western beaches and another trail that loops around and takes you to the Burgeo Road near Arron's Arm. Lots of islands to view just off the shoreline. Furthest one away is about 3 kms. The sand extends almost out to the furthest islands underwater. I used to fish with my dad when I was a little boy and Teen. You could see the sandy bottom when the water was clear. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
Sorry for Your Loss...😢...
❤🤍Thanks for the video💙💛
Big mistake ...'skipping' Green Bay South... seems like you just followed the publicized tourist track. Next trip..come into Green Bay South...
Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll put it on my list. Is King’s Point in Green Bat South? If so it’s already on the list 😊
