So happy you guys are enjoying my home of Newfoundland.
Couldn't find any donut places?!? Omg commme baaaack! There are soooo many now!
Great video guys. Too much to cram it all in with a short trip, but you did hit some of the good ones.
I'm surprised no one corrected you on the pronunciation of Quidi Vidi - it sounds like "Kiddy Viddy" and it's a great spot.
Right! We need 5 summers to see it all! haha
I just did. 😂😂
its a great day when the Mathers post
God Bless Wyatt! Can’t help smiling every time I see him! We did our East Coast road trip from Toronto in August 2022 visiting many of the spots you hit. St. John’s is my wife’s hometown and her first time back in 30 years. If you’re ever back in St. John’s, there’s a great hike from the top of Signal Hill to The Battery with great views of the harbour. Lots of blueberries on the way. Safe Travels!
Sounds like a great trip and thank you for sharing we’ll have to add it to our list
Best place on earth!
Welcome to quick vidi best people and place in the world.my home town.
STUNNING
Hahaha you gotta say it like kiddie vidi 😅😅 cool video tho, St. John’s is where I am from glad you had fun. 🙏🏼🙏🏼💯💯
The name Signal Hill far predates Marconi’s wireless experiment. As merchant ships approached the coast, a flag representing the merchant would be flown on the top of the hill, allowing the longshoremen to gather at the wharves to unload, and reload the ships. Since these employees would be scattered across the town, this allowed the quickest management of incoming goods.
Really cool segment! St. John's is my hometown, so loved seeing it all through your perspective
Cuckold's Cove, huh. Interesting name and makes me wonder if there wasn't a story about a lonely fisherwife that used to frequent that spot...
What a great family outing! Thanks for sharing ❤
Thanks Elizabeth!!
I love these places and your wonderful video!
Thank you!!!!
Love it! Glad you enjoyed St. John's, my wife and I were there that same week and flew out Sunday afternoon, managed to snap a picture of the same Cruise ship from the airplane. So happy the weather worked out for you, we were there for 3 weeks in June and it was cold and foggy every day! So many other things I could recommend for the surrounding area.... Petty Harbour, Bay Bulls, Ferryland to name a few! Hope you get to visit the Bonavista area and Gros Morne National Park! Happy travels!!
Sorry to hear about the weather in June, is it typically gloomy then? We honestly got so lucky with the weather! I feel like we need 3 full summers in Newfoundland to see everything we want to see! There’s so much to do, we gotta come back
That is a great video, thanks for posting. We were just there in September and you hit a lot of the best spots.
Thanks Peter!!!
Wyatt is the most beautiful view! Have fun! Blessings!!! 🥰🥰🥰
He’s the best!
Another great one you two! So much fish & chips! lol We missed Quidi Vidi our first time there, but we'll be back :) Great destinations for your first new van trip 😊
Thanks Yula! We missed a ton of places too, just another reason to head back as well!
Another great video! This makes us want to visit Newfoundland! Thanks for sharing!
Definitely add it to your list it’s amazing!!!
Told you you would love Newfoundland and Quidi Vidi!!! So glad you had a good time and love watching Wyatt!!
You were right it’s amazing! We are already sayin we need to go back!
Great place to looking at that view is a beautiful cafe!
thanks Ryan!
@@MathersOnTheMap You're Welcome!
Beautifully shot!
Thanks Will!
Very nice video. You guys are soooo friendly! And your filming really gives a sense of the real thing. Really helps planning our coming trip of summer 2024. So glad you enjoyed Canada!
Thank you!! Hope you have a great trip next year!!!
Well after watching your Halifax video we realized we missed the St. Johns visit so we had to back track 👣 lol. A good friend of my two sons ran the Quiddy Viddy fish truck (that's how its pronounced so you got it perfect lol( anyway last spring while we were in town we were treated to an order of that delicious fish and chips. Well last one for tonight but I'm sure we'll be checking more in the coming days.
Sooo good! Wouldn’t mind having some fish and chips from there right now!!!
You guys were lucky to have a calm day with little wind in Cape Spear haha
agreed!! we got really lucky with weather in Newfoundland in general!
I'm surprised you didn't find Newfoundland Donut Company in your research!! Hopefully next time!
Newf here that loves your channel. Think about the importance of our lovely island. And, signal hill...in context, wireless the birth of the internet..... BTW what a lovely baby and so happy for your both. Safe and happy travels.
Thank you!!! Newfoundland really is amazing and so much history!
WELCOME 💓🇨🇦
Visited here in August 23 to stay with family.
Some beautiful scenery around & the people there are really friendly. It's rather hilly there so be prepared!
Long long journey from the UK though with there being no direct flights to Newfoundland. We had to fly way past were we needed to be. All the way to Toronto to catch a connecting flight all the way back to Newfoundland 😞 not fun.
Right, They’re so friendly!! We loved it
That’s a bummer about the flight situation! Not ideal!!!
Heading there in September from the UK & it’s going to be 3 flights there and back but, can’t wait.
I live in St. John's and it was so nice to watch your video! I highly recommend farmers markets for the best donuts, coffee, and other goodies if you are ever planning to come back
We definitely hope to come back soon! We loved Newfoundland, with the friendliest people
I wouldn’t call St John’s a little town. It’s a city of over 100,000 people! Very nice video! Thanks!
It's all relative. If you've spent time in places like Toronto or New York, St. John's definitely has much more of a welcoming, small-town feel.
It's a terrific little city.
@@MrJayehawk Nah its not relative. It's literally a capital of a province. Couldn't be further from a town. Was annoying asf for me too. Blows me away how little most people know.
You took the words right out of my mouth at town certainly didn’t do their research. Did they?
@@CommoditySC It most definitely is relative lol, St. Johns can be the capial city all it wants, doesn't change the fact it feels like a small town to them compared to the massive cities they're in all the time.
@@dilemma958 Yea because a city with the head branches of every big business in the province is small. With giant ships in the harbour. Who cares where you've been. Know where you're at. Whats the point of traveling if your macro knowledge is zero by the end. Imagine finishing school but you cant do basic math. That's what this is, but I guess that has gone right over your head too. Like I said the stupidity of most people is annoying.
What's your thoughts on the new van?
Looks like a beautiful area 👍
The new van’s great! All the systems are working great so far 👌🏻👍🏻 excited to test out the floors when it gets colder
Love that the videos are showing travel! So excited to see the new journeys! Don’t ever stop!!
Thanks John! We are too, it’s been too long
The most adorable family going to adorable places ❤️
Thank you Sarah!!!😊
Great video, but one correction: Cape of Punta Mariato in Panama is the southernmost point in mainland North America. The cape makes up the southwestern tip of the Azuero Peninsula. Also St John’s is not a little town LOL. Population from 2021 census - City 110,525 - Urban 178,427 - Metro 205,955
Tepoztlán, Morelos, Mexico: 1500 BCE. Tepoztlán is the oldest city in North America, which was founded around 1500 BCE.
I think that was more than one correction
Fairly certain they mean't oldest European city in North America, obviously everyone knows the Aztecs were there before us...
7:12 it's pronounced Gaul way, not Gall-a-way
It’s pronounced “kiddy vidi”!
NEW FIN LIN oh my who knit ya
It's Galway, not Galloway.
did you feed the Baby?
Are we all just glossing over the name of that brewery???😂😂😂😂😂
Haha wait until next episode!
Great video and you almost pronounced Galway right. Pronounced Gawl-way not Gal-way.
Thanks Keith! Couldn’t remember the proper pronunciation on the fly! Haha
@@MathersOnTheMap Nah you guys are killing it. Discovered you when planning our Baja trip. Loved your Irish series, as an Irish man. Been hooked on your second van build and house reno series.
Love to hear it, thank you!! Hope you have a great week 🙌🏻
You don't pronounce the qui. It is called Kitty Vitty Village.
Darnit, wish we knew that before filming haha
I hope you guys bought a Dildo Brewing shirt for that special friend. 😉
Little town???
It’s a city with a metropolitan over 220,000 people. Get a clue
Sorry to offend you Shannon! Hope there was some positivity from our video instead of just the “little town” comment 🤞🏻
Don’t be so rude. If you come from big cities like New York, Toronto, etc. , you could easily call St. John’s a town. There’s a reason why people outside St.John’s often say “we are going to town” when they are going to St. John’s. They don’t say “we are going to St. John’s”.
Yes Mom. Sorry for being rude. I’ll go to my room now.
I just thought the comment was funny.
All is well.
They visited and still didn't pronounce the name of the province properly and it is against regulations to park overnight in an RV at Cape Spear.
👀a lot of negativity here 👎
Truth hurts?@@MathersOnTheMap
nope, I just try to look for the positive side of life, not the negative@@howardyoung2331
Wow ,you have to be so petty, they clearly are enjoying their time here but you have to correct them on how to pronounce names ,Newfoundland not Newfinland.
Yes, education is petty 🙄
If you could learn to pronounce the place you’re visiting, that would be great. It’s pronounced new-fin-LAND. Not new fin lind. So many Americans make videos and don’t bother to learn the name.
Hey Alice, thanks for the comment! We try our best and if you watch our other videos in Newfoundland you'll see that we pronounce it properly. To generalize and say we didn't bother to learn the name because of mispronunciations in the video isn't fair.
“Kiddy Vidi”
