SUPER COVER MIKE...
Remember seeing the Kinks play this at Reading Rock in the early 80s ...they had teased the crowd previously throughout the set ...playing the first few bars of the intro then stopping and doing another song instead....When they finally did Lola we all went crazy .... about 25000 happy (stoned) souls singing along with them.... I was about 18 or 19 back then .... I'm 53 now ...(sigh).
Your version is amazingly good ...... took me right back to a sweet moment in time. Thank you.

It's just an acoustic electric mid-range Martin going into my Yamaha 01x, recorded to laptop via firewire. I then get to have fun tweaking the EQ and compression using UAD-2 plug-ins in Cubase. The guitar sounds great in the room, too, mind you, but you're not hearing the audio from the video camera. It's a multi-track mix.
Still my favorite cover after all these years.
My friends have a little daughter named Lola. I sing this song to her every time I see her.
Her mom recently listened to the entire song for the 1st time and was aghast. She asked me to NOT sing it to her little girl anymore. Haha.

Brother your comment is spot on. He does not overdo the song or try to make it too much his own while at the same time covering the Kinks version and paying true homage. The bass player is a beastly sure!! I’m sorry f you watch other videos that dude can thump the fat strings. I play rhythm guitar in a band And we have been together for 21 years and we all know how supremely important it is to have a bad ass bass player and then a bad ass drummer because without those guys you don’t have anything to follow. What really fucking bothers me is that people find them boring because they’re not musicians I don’t understand how much of an intra-goal part they are of 80 solid band. I don’t mean to sound braggadocio us because we’re just a bunch of old hippies sit around and you know burn a little something in it all play music but every once in a while we get invited to places the payers money to do it and playing in front of a crowd is the fucking rush we We practice our asses off just to feel. It is so amazing to see people see dance and especially women Dammit! When they get up and start swinging their hair and dancing all sexy it’s a feeling they cannot be reproduced in any other way no matter what.
