cole turner I like take three because you can tell he is in so much pain but he’s still trying to hold it together. And I find it the most heartbreaking because even in his final moments he must be strong
I get that some people wouldn't have liked that, but for me take 4 was absolutely heartbreaking and I wouldn't have minded it. 3 was really good too though, and I'm happy that they went with it.
A lot of fans hate the line. They say "he's not really going to die, he's just being vain". 10 explained the process and how traumatic it is. I guarantee if you went thru something that made you feel like you died, it changed your face, your body, your personality, you probably would have a great deal of reluctance to get on with it. It's more than just changing your clothes like some make it out to be.
Several of the recent doctors are pretty clear they view it as functionally being their death. The Ood speak of "singing him to his sleep", Capaldi's says "won't kill anyone - well except me", Whittaker laments not getting to see what happens next and has a line (blossomiest blossom) from a real life person who was dying of cancer. Of course River never gets sad 'her' doctor has died, earlier doctors view it as just changing their appearance, Romana tries out several faces, and notably Capaldi's doctor forces a regeneration on another character - which from his point of view *would* be him killing the general. So it's inconsistant. But the character quite clearly views regeneration as them dying, but that other doctors will take their place. Though they also view their past selves as mostly 'still them'.
10 only lived for 6 years, knew about his oncoming death/regeneration for ?several days?, was alone at that point, had lost Rose, has in general unfinished buisness/regrets. I think this all makes him so reluctant to go. But I wouldn't have objected against a faint, pained "Allons-y" right after his " I don't wanna go", when facing the inevitable.
"I just worry if you see him breaking down it stops you breaking down as well. There's always the danger of that. if that's the FINAL image and you're left with him in total distress, it's pretty grim". David was concerned for the fans, for the kids, for the audience. He called it. That's not what the Doctor could not do. Thank you.

@@mrflibble1259 Well, I guess I've run across people so hung up on this scene and line that it hinders trying to break it down. Or they take great issue for the doctor having any emotion (alternatively others have answered and 10 unlike other doctors experienced this once with his regeneration stopped by the hand and this as well as the regeneration limitation may have factored in as well as ego). There's been a tad of a "third rail" aspect to examining this scene. Indeed, you're right that this is the point of the video and maybe that kept some from viewing it. One of the things I love about Doctor Who is the way that the future can affect your view of moments that happened in the past. This scene was great when it was shot. But by the end of the eleventh Doctor's tenure, it had taken on even more meaning. Because they told us more of the story behind this statement. He knows where he's going.
Are you referring to the events of the 50th anniversary? I'm pretty sure even though the 11th Doctor told him what's coming, 10th didn't retain those memories.
He's the Doctor. He always retains something. Maybe not the details, maybe not easily recalled, but somewhere in that brilliant mind, maybe he knew enough to feel grief not just for himself, but for the man who would be his successor.
Sorry to burst your bubble but that's not true. It's pretty obvious that Moffat, while writing a fantastic 50th special, did what he usually does and wrote an episode that retcons or "inserts" new scenes in the past like having Galiffrey survive the Time War, having Clara in S07 save the Doctor throughout his life (even in classic Who) but somehow he never manages to remember any of the encounters except the ones in S07, or when Clara visits "kid" Doctor in S08's Listen. All of the Doctor's final lines before he regenerates are suppose to represent the actors in some way. Christopher enjoyed the time/character, David didn't want to leave the job, and Matt changed as a person but will always cherish being the doctor.
I liked the 4th one the most, but 3 was great too. It was like in the middle of both 1/2 and 4 (you can see his eyes just almost with enough liquid for the water to let out.
I agree, the third take was more subtle. He wasn't completely breaking down like the forth take, but you could still see that he obviously didn't want to regenerate. He seemed upset by it, but not to the point of hysteria. Wow, it's so hard to put what you feel into words sometimes, isn't it?
+Robert Lythgoe I feel like the 4th one just works better at pulling at your emotions, because it's showing that he's grown so fond of that regeneration that he finally broke down at the thought of leaving it.
This line is brilliant when you realize that "I don't want to go" was what John Smith said before he "died". Ten's aversion to regeneration is exactly the same as John Smith's.
Exactly! In many ways, they _were_ the same person. John Smith was basically Ten if he had been born a human. They share many traits: bravery, dedication to protect people, dorkiness, and the fear of "some other man sauntering away," living the life that they couldn't have. 10/10 to RTD for writing John Smith and Ten so perfectly!
I think the reason so many people hate his regeneration is the fact that he seems much more human than alien when the line is delivered. I quite like it (the fourth is over done but I think they chose well for the final cut) because it shows quite a bit of character development. There was quite a few times with the 9th and 10th doctor that he had to battle with himself to remain grounded and mostly his companions along the way are what helped him with this. When he knew he was going to regenerate, he visited every single one of his old companions even if they didn't know him yet or couldn't remember him. I believe the more human part of his final line is the fact that he's saying "I don't want to go" but also thinking what that means for him. To me, I think he's saying he doesn't want to lose something he doesn't register already as being lost; again, completely a human way of thinking. Sure most of his companions are long gone, but as soon as he regenerates he knows he'll become a new person and there's no real way of telling how he will look back on his old companions in his new persona. Visiting them like he did sort of set in stone for him that it would be the last time he would see his old friends, even if it was more of a mental block on them and a self forced goodbye rather than actually stating he could never see them again in his next form. He probably knew if he were to even try to see them again in his new regeneration, what little composure he had here would be thrown out the window. The 10th doctor sacrificed quite a bit more than most of the other doctors in the new who, in my opinion. Which is why I find him breaking down a bit at the end very acceptable because it doesn't show a static character.
I don't think his line means he doesn't want to lose this regeneration more so he doesn't want to lose the people in it. Even though they're already gone.
Will Muse Well, yes you can actually. And Benedict wouldn't make a very good Doctor unless he was dignified like Sherlock was. I can tell Idris Elba would make an extremely good Doctor if he played him like John Luther. I WatchRec I He's said himself he'll never be the Doctor. There. Your dreams are crushed. Goodbye.
"When you run with the Doctor, it feels like it'll never end, but however hard you try you can't run forever. Everybody knows that everybody dies and nobody knows it like the Doctor, but do I think that all the skies of all the worlds might just turn dark if he ever, for one moment, accepts it." River Song, 'Forest of the Dead' June 2008
I can watch a scene breakdown like this just fine. But when I watch the actual scene with Rose and then the music and "We will sing to you, Doctor. The universe will sing you to your sleep" and the counter tenor is singing, I'm on the verge. Then he delivers that final line and the dam breaks and it's Welcome To Ugly Cry Town. Pop: Me
Is it sad that I recognized at once that number three was the one they used? (And number four, my god. They're right about why it's too OOC, of course, but it still pulls my heartstrings to watch.)
"Dying is like coming to the end of a long novel, you only regret it if the ride was enjoyable and left you wanting more." That fits the 10th's last moment and that's where the "I don't want to go" plays out.
"At that moment, i really wanted to pull the fans heart stings..." YA, WELL YOU DID A GREAT JOB ON THAT!! ;_;......got every fan girl to cry as there hearts fall into a river like a rose
I think take 4 would have literally broke me but I think the final take we saw showed everything it showed sheer emotion and heartbreak but also Realisation and in that final millisecond it showed acceptance
I like this regeneration I dont know why everyones moaning about 'i dont want to go' Its good line its better than matts regeneration where he just sneezes
4 is a literal killer and way overly emotional I do wish Netflix was customisable or something and it gave you the option to watch with an alternative take like this that doesn’t change the plot to see how it would feel (or any streaming service for that matter) but I feel they got the perfect one the first one was so unemotional you’d be at risk of maybe laughing at it I know I did there had to be some distress there but the last one was verging on John smiths character having a breakdown and we know the doctor to be braver than that
,,we did a four takes and with each one we tried to put it further to make it more emotional you know" yeah thanks bbc, you are literally trying make us cry for more years than doctor ever will be living...appreciate that from you
If they used the 4th one... it wouldnt be as heartbreaking, but it could explain why 11 was worried about his legs... as they were probably trembling during regeneration
It's a shame David will never know the actual physical pain this caused us. Yes, he did go through pain when he left Doctor Who, but we went through the pain of watching it.
Will Neill How about you tell that to the Whovians on Tumblr? And maybe the reason why we find that sad, is because David was so great at acting this scene out. And yes, people do feel pain when a movie or a tv show is really sad. Might as well point that out.
@@aleshagarrett7742 I mean, I feel like Jodie Whitaker could've done well with a half-decent script. Perhaps a script written and overseen by a female showrunner? A female Doctor is important but THAT would be a meaningful change.
0:31 You know what... I honestly think that they should have gone with that take. Why? Because it shows that despite the the fact that the Doctor doesn't want to regenerate, he's still approaching it with bravery. He makes a small acknowledgement that he's doesn't want to go but then he shows true courage and approaches the regeneration without allowing himself to even slightly break down under the fear and sorrow he feels inside
i agree completely, in the 3rd take hes tryna be brave and he’s still holding it together, it’s more shocking to see someone on this pedestal of strength fighting to uphold their image, that’s why it’s such a great scene when he tears up in front of wilf earlier in the story but he doesn’t completely break down
Brilliant. I'm watching through the series for the first time now, and I just saw his final episode. I'm in mourning! Not ready for the new doctor, but WHAT a send off episode they gave him! Incredible episode!
If they’d have gone with Take 4, to this day I’d still be in a desperate state of wanting to hug him. 😂🤗🤗 As a big Tennant fanboy growing up with the show, that would’ve literally killed my soul, torn out my heart and thrown it into the Void, only for it to get stomped on by the Cyber King. 😂 Glad they went with 3, but the first two are interesting, sounds like he’s suddenly realising and regretting it but still accepting his death.
Omg I kind of wish they did use Take Four because it would be interesting to see what fainting feels like Also even with the take they went with, I spend two days recovering from losing Tennant. And then I saw Amy Pond and I was like *everything is okay now*
Well, this was heart-breaking, but hearing Twelve saying it in the Doctor Falls was even more powerfull. Followed by Eleven's words... He was multiple persons, but in the end... He is the Doctor.
I'm glad they took David's input with it, which was 100% right. He was sad but would have held back the tears with how much he'd been through his regeneration shouldn't have been the thing to break him
3 was perfect but 4 may have seemed over the top the second maybe third time round but my god it would have crushed my soul in grief just shows Tennant's incredible skill as an actor to do such varying performances as well as recognising the character and how it'll be viewed my the audience
I'm so glad they didn't choose the last one! It would have got even more critisism. I loved Ten's regeneration, but I know a lot of people that hate it and I get why.
I don't hate his actual regeneration at all, but what I do hate, for the same reasons, is his whinging when he feels obligated to sacrifice himself to save Wilf. He sounded like a child having a tantrum and it wasn't emotional in the slightest, even though I knew full well that it was supposed to be. It's ironic when people usually talk about Matt Smith acting like a child at points, as he could have done that scene a lot better and not act like a child.
Great insight for how a quality show gets out together, you don't quite know which idea will be best until you've given yourself several different options and compared them.
10th regeneration ripped my heart in pieces i'm still sobbing since the day i first watched. david is always so breathtaking in every character he plays, such an extraordinary actor. love him
I LITERALLY never knew about this until now, saw a gif set, knew I was going to DIE of FEELS, HUNTED THIS DOWN ANYWAY, and now I am full on SOBBING in my pjs at 2 in the afternoon. That little choked sob and the teary eyes goddamn BROKE me. DAMN YOU TENNANT AND YOUR AMAZING ACTING SKILLS AND PUPPY DOG FACE!!!
Interesting to see how much David interacted with the editing team etc. Something tells me that just isn't the case anymore - yes I feel the show lost its way drastically once Moffat took over.
Late_Bloc_Party i feel like it lost some or most of its emotional moments and (for me) it became alot more action than before. it still is okay after he did go but.. it isnt the same ... at least to me
Dampferhöhle Lupis Yeah you said it better than I did. RTD was about the emotion, Moffat is about the story. Sadly though, a good story only works if it conveys a lot of emotion. That's why I think it was best when RTD was in charge. Moffat provided great stories, but RTD kept the show human.
Which is kind of erky to me. You tend to rewatch the episodes with emotion more than the ones with the plot. Most of DW's plots are at least good anyways. Sigh...I don't know if it's jsut me, but while Matt Smith and Moffat era was good, I just didn't like the gap between 10 and 11. They felt too disconnected; if I had to put it in the worst true light, I have to say...11 didn't feel quite like the doctor to me anymore. 9 and 10 were the greatest. :) I can accept change, but not one as cut off as that one. Still a great show. Miss the old seasons with RTD's characterization.
Yeah I agree. Take the Xmas 2016 episode as an example. It's kinda lost its touch~ my entire family felt like we were watching a random filler than a special episode
Late_Bloc_Party That's a good point, and it's similar to what the Russo brothers said about directing the Marvel movies and managing such a grand web of stories, you start with the characters, their personal struggles and emotions, and build the story around it. That's how you get your audience to be invested in how the story unfolds.
it was over half a decade from the last time I saw the scene and when someone mentioned doctor who I just went "I don't want to go" this scene is one of the greatest, most impactful scenes in television history for me at the very least
Writer 1: So what're we going for? Writer 2: Well, we want it to be an emotional moment Writer 3: We've gotta pull at the audience heartstrings Writer 4: No, not enough. We need to reach down their throats and RIP OUT THEIR HEARTS! *After takes* Writer 4: Okay, only a little bit.
@anarchyproductions6259 yeah, it's weird. Everyone here always praises Russell T Davies writing and David's acting and Murray Gold's music, and I'm here like "And what about Niel Gorton? Edward Thomas? Euros Lyn? Grahame Harper? James Strong? Ernie Vincze? Rory Taylor? Tracie Simpson? Julie Gardner? Phil Collinson? Louise Paige? Without those people, a lot of the writing wouldn't have come to life on screen in the way that it did.
I didn't even want to see one take of it and they had 4. All of which broke me. David is forever my Doctor ❤ with the saddest and most heartbreaking send off.
"I don't wanna go " . Yes it was a very emotional final line . It was meant to be because he believed his next inactation would be his last . (Or "vanity issues " and the Doctor had grown attached to his look at 10 . The quote is from 11s final episode while telling Clara he had used up all his lives .) Even this got spoiled by the timeless child :-(
What adds even more punch to this moment is that he's fully aware (at least at the time) that this would be his final regeneration. Matt Smith's attitude of making the "last go" a good one was a nice follow-up to that.
I think the take they went with was the best because it showed the right amount of sadest while still keeping him at a point where he was still holding back, because he really didnt wanna go
If they used take four, some people would've literally died from heartbreak.

I mean he spent quite long time among humans, he can have emotions right?!
Humanity can be contagious
I cried... and i know im not the only one
Me too :( He was the best Doctor and he will always be
I WatchRec I Not if Benedict Cumberbatch be the Thirth Doctor
brunoevil100 You can't know if a Doctor is good just because of the actor.
Goodbye.
TheActingVlog But you can't know how he would portray the character
" Everything has got to end some TIME, otherwise
nothing would ever get started." The Doctor, 'A Christmas Carol' =))
"When you run with the Doctor, it feels like it'll never end, but however hard you try you can't run forever. Everybody knows that everybody dies and nobody knows it like the Doctor, but do I think that all the skies of all the worlds might just turn dark if he ever, for one moment, accepts it."
River Song, 'Forest of the Dead' June 2008
I like Agent Smiths line better TBH :) "Everything that has a beginning has an end."
@@TheActingVlog i was not ready for this comment
Nobody Important Why oh who does he have to be in such pain??? He’s basically condemned to suffering 😭😭
"I don't want to go." I DON'T WANT YOU TO GO
+XxDainBramagedxX my reaction too!**heart shatters**
+XxDainBramagedxX that's what i said too

XxDainBramagedxX I said that exactly like that!
XxDainBramagedxX same
I almost began to cry when I watched the fourth!
Same
me too
Entire episode is out of character tbh...
I literally got a lot of goose bumps watching this, my gosh...David is such a talented actor that I can't.
Even in this video, it's still the last thing he says.
My god, David is an astonishing actor. Just regulating his degree of emotion inch-perfect first-take four times in a row
I'm so impressed right now
"Dying is like coming to the end of a long novel, you only regret it if the ride was enjoyable and left you wanting more." That fits the 10th's last moment and that's where the "I don't want to go" plays out.
I’m so glad David has input in which take to go with and they definitely made the best choice
This regeneration was so perfect.
It was emotional, dramatic, sad, heart-warming, it was a perfect end to a perfect reign.
"At that moment, i really wanted to pull the fans heart stings..."
YA, WELL YOU DID A GREAT JOB ON THAT!! ;_;......got every fan girl to cry as there hearts fall into a river like a rose
Like "the" Rose you mean
Not only all fan girls. David Tennant was fantastic. Absolutly fantastic. It was breaking my heart seeing him go.
He could've done so much more...
The Timelords returning, The Earth will be burning, The lost white point star is a trap for the Master.
Atharv Sankholkar You just killed me 😭
I think take 4 would have literally broke me but I think the final take we saw showed everything it showed sheer emotion and heartbreak but also Realisation and in that final millisecond it showed acceptance
I remember watching Tenant go, my Doctor, and I just cried for an hour! Miss him so much, what an amazing actor and Doctor- my favourite!
Wait why did I just subscribe, it was just an empty room
David Tennant was like the Sean Connery of Doctor Who, he was just perfect for the role. Really miss his adventures as the Doctor.
I like this regeneration
I dont know why everyones moaning about 'i dont want to go'
Its good line its better than matts regeneration where he just sneezes
Did you even SEE the scene on the clock tower?
God Of Potatoes The Clock Tower regeneration was awful. And the follow up insta-regeneration.
***** It's stupid that he was able to destroy whole Dalek fleets with his regeneration energy.
IrelandeNulPoints Actually its possible by timelord logic by releasing an enoumous amount of energy
IrelandeNulPoints **cough cough** 10TH DOCTOR DESTROYING THE TARDIS **COUGH COUGH**
Now the insta-regeneration was terrible though.
4 is a literal killer and way overly emotional I do wish Netflix was customisable or something and it gave you the option to watch with an alternative take like this that doesn’t change the plot to see how it would feel (or any streaming service for that matter) but I feel they got the perfect one the first one was so unemotional you’d be at risk of maybe laughing at it I know I did there had to be some distress there but the last one was verging on John smiths character having a breakdown and we know the doctor to be braver than that
You wouldn't laugh
,,we did a four takes and with each one we tried to put it further to make it more emotional you know" yeah thanks bbc, you are literally trying make us cry for more years than doctor ever will be living...appreciate that from you
Why is there no outro at this video?
+Julia Nijenhuis I see what you did there
+Julia Nijenhuis Worryingly I watch these videos sometimes 10 or so at a time and EVERY TIME I forget that the silence are there at the end...
best comment :D
+British Ball What are you on about? There wasn't anything at the end.
I don't know but I did get a strange new tally on my arm
Fourth take killed me 😢😢
I miss him
I miss him so much
SAME
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

If they used the 4th one... it wouldnt be as heartbreaking, but it could explain why 11 was worried about his legs... as they were probably trembling during regeneration
It's a shame David will never know the actual physical pain this caused us. Yes, he did go through pain when he left Doctor Who, but we went through the pain of watching it.
i'm sure he watched his own show
j luke i don't think you get it- we watched him literally leave
it didn't cause you physical pain, it's a fictional tv show.
hey, maybe some of us have the ability to actually feel things
Will Neill How about you tell that to the Whovians on Tumblr? And maybe the reason why we find that sad, is because David was so great at acting this scene out. And yes, people do feel pain when a movie or a tv show is really sad. Might as well point that out.
I didn't want him to go either.
Obvious Bicycle he did :(
Too late man, Whitaker killed the series
@@silenthill4 Chibnall killed the series.
@Kinney nah.
@@aleshagarrett7742 I mean, I feel like Jodie Whitaker could've done well with a half-decent script. Perhaps a script written and overseen by a female showrunner? A female Doctor is important but THAT would be a meaningful change.
Seeing this after the episode and recently becoming a fan this was emotional to watch
I'm glad they went with 3. I agree with David, 4 was just too much.
0:31 You know what... I honestly think that they should have gone with that take. Why? Because it shows that despite the the fact that the Doctor doesn't want to regenerate, he's still approaching it with bravery. He makes a small acknowledgement that he's doesn't want to go but then he shows true courage and approaches the regeneration without allowing himself to even slightly break down under the fear and sorrow he feels inside
i agree completely, in the 3rd take hes tryna be brave and he’s still holding it together, it’s more shocking to see someone on this pedestal of strength fighting to uphold their image, that’s why it’s such a great scene when he tears up in front of wilf earlier in the story but he doesn’t completely break down
David made a great call. He knows how his Doctor works and made the right decision. We all have David to thank for this.
Doctor Who made me cry in lots of scenes and believe me this scene is definitely one of them!!!
Brilliant. I'm watching through the series for the first time now, and I just saw his final episode. I'm in mourning! Not ready for the new doctor, but WHAT a send off episode they gave him! Incredible episode!
Congrats to Tennant for his win at the NTA's last night. Well deserved.
I just realized this is in 1080p while the original End of Time aired in 1080i. So this is just a tad higher quality than the aired footage!
If they’d have gone with Take 4, to this day I’d still be in a desperate state of wanting to hug him. 😂🤗🤗
As a big Tennant fanboy growing up with the show, that would’ve literally killed my soul, torn out my heart and thrown it into the Void, only for it to get stomped on by the Cyber King. 😂
Glad they went with 3, but the first two are interesting, sounds like he’s suddenly realising and regretting it but still accepting his death.
yeah thanks david. i always end up crying over this. brlliant. just brilliant. he was always my favorite. thank you. -miles
I legit cried for the second time due to the 4th take. I'm so glad that wasn't in the episode because my break down would have been worse.
Omg I kind of wish they did use Take Four because it would be interesting to see what fainting feels like
Also even with the take they went with, I spend two days recovering from losing Tennant.
And then I saw Amy Pond and I was like *everything is okay now*
I don't want you to go either David.
David has always been and always will be my favourite actor along side Jared Padelacki! :3
FINALLY, SOMEONE ELSE LIKES JARED PADALECKI
+Chara Senpai ikr! ? I feel like he isn't appreciated as much as Jensen
I like Jensen, but he doesn't appeal to me as much as Jared and Misha.
+Chara Senpai same
:) glad to see someone thinks the same way I do.
One of the Saddest Doctor Who moments was when 10 regenerated. It still doesn't top 10's goodbye to Rose. That will get you every time.
Well, this was heart-breaking, but hearing Twelve saying it in the Doctor Falls was even more powerfull. Followed by Eleven's words... He was multiple persons, but in the end... He is the Doctor.
I wish we could also see the different takes that Matt Smith referred to for his regeneration....
Catched? Please say that English isn't your first language... It should be 'caught,' not catched.
I'm glad they took David's input with it, which was 100% right. He was sad but would have held back the tears with how much he'd been through his regeneration shouldn't have been the thing to break him
David Tennant... What an amazing man... He's on my list of people I would absolutely love to meet
No! I didn't mean his Doctor, I meant how he regenerated into Matt Smith!
+Jon Snow (MLG Quickscoper) Ur name tho
+Jon Snow (MLG Quickscoper) So majestic
I don't hate his actual regeneration at all, but what I do hate, for the same reasons, is his whinging when he feels obligated to sacrifice himself to save Wilf. He sounded like a child having a tantrum and it wasn't emotional in the slightest, even though I knew full well that it was supposed to be. It's ironic when people usually talk about Matt Smith acting like a child at points, as he could have done that scene a lot better and not act like a child.
“I found the third one more moving actually.” - David Tennant talking about his own performance as The Doctor
Pull on our heartstrings? YOU RIPPED OUT OUR CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
Great insight for how a quality show gets out together, you don't quite know which idea will be best until you've given yourself several different options and compared them.
**Sobs** I'm fine **gasp** **screams in pain**
it’s so interesting that the he had input about how the doctor should’ve reacted in that scene. fascinating as hell

Mr. Stark... I don't feel so good. I don't wanna go...
I came to this video knowing I would die of heartbreak.
I was already crying like I'd never stop. I don't know what I would've done if they used take 4. 😭
If they had take 4 not 3. Everyone would be on the floor, drenched in tears...
That's how you get your audience to be invested in how the story unfolds.
it was over half a decade from the last time I saw the scene and when someone mentioned doctor who I just went "I don't want to go"
this scene is one of the greatest, most impactful scenes in television history for me at the very least
I want to see alternative scenes of Matt regenerating! I heard that in one version 11 lost a leg!
those five words almost sent me into tears once i heard them
Writer 1: So what're we going for?
Writer 2: Well, we want it to be an emotional moment
Writer 3: We've gotta pull at the audience heartstrings
Writer 4: No, not enough. We need to reach down their throats and RIP OUT THEIR HEARTS!
*After takes*
Writer 4: Okay, only a little bit.
There was only two writers for this. Russel T Davis and Garrett Roberts (I think). You mean director and executive producer?
@anarchyproductions6259 I'm a production addict. I constantly try to give everyone the credit instead of just one main guy
Doctor Who: I don't feel so good
Take four would have litterally cemented that moment into my heart for all of time
Not that it didn't already
“I don’t want to go.” -Kilgrave, after Thanos snapped his fingers.
It would've totally been in character for this Doctor to cry in his final moments.
"I don't wanna go " .
Yes it was a very emotional final line .
It was meant to be because he believed his next inactation would be his last .
(Or "vanity issues " and the Doctor had grown attached to his look at 10 .
The quote is from 11s final episode while telling Clara he had used up all his lives .)
Even this got spoiled by the timeless child :-(
No matter how you say it, it still makes you cry like a baby.
What adds even more punch to this moment is that he's fully aware (at least at the time) that this would be his final regeneration. Matt Smith's attitude of making the "last go" a good one was a nice follow-up to that.
I think the take they went with was the best because it showed the right amount of sadest while still keeping him at a point where he was still holding back, because he really didnt wanna go
0:49 Oh my gosh, how dare you BBC?!
Absolutely Fantastic.
