- Affordable Shipping Container Apartments - Low-Cost Housing. The possibilities of using shipping containers for housing projects are endless. Modular and highly portable shipping containers can comfortably be stacked up to 8 stories without structural challenges. This makes them good candidates for container apartment housing. In this video, we bring you Shipping Container Apartment Units in Jacksonville, Florida. Stay tuned to find out more about these modern container apartments.
This amazing project is located in Florida Jacksonville's Cathedral District. The project comprises 18 retrofitted shipping containers into 320-square-foot residential apartments. Nine of 18 apartments in the company’s Ashley Street Container Lofts project are high-end short-term rentals while the other 9 units set aside as apartments. The containers were fabricated offsite and delivered to the site with a partial build-out complete. The containers are stacked up to three stories and split into two sections to create an open courtyard between them. Each block is joined by a central corridor that accommodates the vertical circulation to all stories.

Amazing project. What do you think?
Unpopular opinion - this seems like something that would actually work! For the record, I lived in a studio apartment for a brief time.
Greetings from southern Ontario Canada I have my home built from 4 shipping containers looking like a regular 2 story home I'm located in Oakville Ontario home of the ford plant
I want to thank the channel owner and community in the comments I’ve been ready and paying attention to designs I’ve been taking note and will do what Henry Ford did to the car to the shipping container home industry see ya guys soon - YL
I wish all governments do the same for the people in needs of housing
That was almost near perfect. Was that a semi 2 bedroom 40ft container apartment? If so wow. If you think about it, if someone can get a sofa/bed, kitchen and shower room in a RV, well designed 40ft containers should be offering way more.
Sure
From what I see online the investor/developers of these lofts planned to spend $50,000 on each loft, but it cost around $90,000 each. 2020 rent was around $700-$800 now (probably due to inflation) around $1000 a month.
How much per month?
This has the very same problem as that London project they tore down, to small for living!
London was a social housing project, quite different from the USA setup.
@@sheltermode Financially of course their different but the designs quite similar
You say affordale nany times but you never say the cost to build , buy or rent?
