I got to meet a sales manager for Tropica at an aroid show last year, he was beyond impressed that us lil hobbyists have been able to tissue culture at home! (Also gave me some insider info on how much DRAMA there is between labs overseas..girl it’s wild) Congrats on the new space, so excited to see what you start working on 😁
Keep up the awesome work! I think your content is very valuable to this industry and to the hobbyist around the world. I always wanted my own home lab, after i finished college and only doing micro propagation for a semester. Hopefully now i can do it. Thank you for sharing your journey, it's an inspiration to us all.🤙🤙
You are amazing. I have been watching your videos and starting the tissue culture experiment to help people in need in Cambodia and Thailand through amaryllis seeds, bulbs and tissue culture. Thank you for sharing valuable Information for underprivileged people!
Aw, congratulations! Look at you being all growed up and dealing with SDSs (been there, oof), love the comparison to younger Laur, what a great little throw back
Absolutely great! I've been watching your videos for a long time and always look forward to every new episode! I studied computer science myself and now work in a MakerSpace at a university in Germany. I've also been playing around with Tissue Culture there and love it! We now have a rooftop garden at the university and we are currently building a large FarmBot there. We are already doing hydroponics, rainwater collection, solar island systems and much more there :) For indoor we developed a LED plant lamp with the common spectra with high intensity to test different influences. In the last weeks I watched more and more videos about the thai constellation and the problem of root rot. I briefly thought of attaching a small mini fan to the glass to create an airflow to stimulate the plant to lignify and develop a better root system. BTW another tip for those without professional equipment: hydrogen peroxide. H2O2. Super good. I always put the plants in 6% H2O2 for a few minutes and then briefly in distilled water, done. In hydroponics in Kratky format (without aeration) I always add a little too. The water doesn't tilt, hardly any algae form and you can really see how much more oxygen there is in the water. Amazing miracle cure. Whatever. Thanks for your videos! They make a difference! 😉 I love plants and TC has become a new hobby for me! Thanks to you ❤ BTW. loved the intro, Nerd 🤓
You are absolutely charming beautiful funny, the whole package. Passionate smart, If you’re married or in a relationship they are extremely lucky to have you! Thank you for your sharing of knowledge of tissue culture, it helps me a lot
OK... almost lost me on the intro... and I'm an official Weednerd.. lol But, I am intrigued... coming back to watch the rest of this when I get a chance.. cheers! Now I have lab envy! 😂
okay i have so many questions.... you know how many rare plants we have here in tropical north qld Australia? you want gympie gympie / waitawhile? jesus... miracle fruit... ummm datura... the list goes on... toothache plant... ephedra... hit me up
This looks amazing! Congratulations! If you don't mind, how much did it cost to rent there? Is the lab a shared space or all yours? What was your first TC kit, by the way?
hay nerds !....lol loved the intro !!! was that a parody of Jessie (from No-Till growers channel ) ? if so its a cool knod.... to him . if not then give him a peep ! you may like his stuff .......
Since 2020 you have come a long way... even the cute freckles vanished... Anyway go for gold with orchids! It' can be a little bit more involved then what you've covered in your other videos. I decided to start my own lab down here in Australia 2 years ago with zero prior knowledge of TC, did a LOT of research and found a good mentor over a year ago and now have a few hundred flasks and counting of orchid species, also had a go at doing some crosses to get some bizzare hybrids for the giggles. Only down side compared to most other plants... they grow slowly, like super slowly and the mix requirements between plants can differ greatly between varieties not to mention trying to work out the best explanant for each type... (try the green root tip on the varigated Phal cutting just into the green bit insread of the stem altho that part of the meri may only work in liquid media and not SS) anyway don't stress there is always someone whos done a thesis on a plant or TC of it for a PHD and posted the information online, It is all part of the learning and fun of it! Either way you've got a solid background and a passion for it. You'll get there!! I managed to in a short time so you definitely will and besides It's great fun and super rewarding. I'm probably about 3 months off my first unflask only took 24months 😂 NERDS OF THE WORLD UNITE!
Hi, I have a question. Where do you get your jars? It’s one of the only things you didn’t link in your supply list. It’s really hard to find jars with PP lids, and harder to find them semi-clear like yours.
I enjoyed learning how to divide plants. But could I possibly divide spruce trees? If you can, can you please post how to do it? Or, if we do what we have seen so far, can spruce trees become differentiated like that? Are the methods the same or are they completely different? If it's different, can you please let me know?
Nahh you ate that it looked so cool 😉😉🫣 1:17 also idk but I think you should tissue culture a variety of rose I just think it'd be good video content. I can send you rose cuttings if you want 😗. If not totally cool either way.❤❤
Hello I have travelled back from the future to congratulate you on your upcoming scientific discovery that will change the universe, your new pizza topping discovery that will bring world peace and watch out for that banana peel on the sidewalk next month. Oh and I know this new lab is fantastic congratulations Laur we are all groovy with it, three thumbs up!
I really enjoy the content, you should really created a discord to create a little tissue culture communit. Could also help your business gain even more momentum
Congratulations on the new digs! As a profesional IRL Lab Rat, my one bit of advice would be to label, label, label EVERYTHING correctly the first time using a standardized method. The rest is just cleaning. Lots and lots and lots of cleaning. As I'm sure you're starting to learn firsthand. Cheers from N. FL.!
I second this underutilized advise! I used to have the mentality of.. I'll remember what this is.. 2 hours later I was trying to figure out exactly what it was that it is. I bought tons of labels and have a preprinted most of the things we culture. Only thing you have to do is write the date and code of the medium.
That's great! I just recently found your channel while doing some research for a uni project and I fell in love with your content, hope you can do even more cool stuff
I love your videos & Im excited to see you grow! I used to breed tropical fish, which got me into aquascaping (basically building lush gardens underwater)- Ive always been into plants, so recently, as Im moving away for uni, Ive decided I want to start a rare-aquatic plant farm of sorts . My biggest issue was propagation and multiplying plants as it takes a while to grow and takes a ton of space.. After discovering your videos I think Im going to try and focus mainly on TCs - to multiply my plants- after which I can either sell the TC cups or transfer them normal growth to sell. Safe to say you got a follower for life haha! Thanks for the videos :)
😅Interns in jars😂 ...To bad avant gardener it taken as a name .. Do you know of or can create a list of plant hormones and analogs? With properties and use cases? I ran across a synthetic plant hormone analog I couldn't find much about the other day and a cheet sheet would have been handy.. it got me thinking, "when's the next 'plants in jars' video going to drop?" ....And there you are! Something more than the top 3 or 5. Maybe also a cheet sheet for media, becides Skoog , etc.
I worry when you say you're ordering specimens from southeast asia, and look up to a company that goes out and collects new species to introduce to aquaculture markets. look at what's happened with cactus poaching in texas and mexico. There are species that will go extinct in the wild in the next 25 years, and species we will only be able to keep alive through ex-situ cultivation, and part of that is because of overharvesting wild plants and poaching endangered species. as you expand, which is really exciting, I would hope you're able to direct some viewer attention to responsible sourcing of specimens, and the importance of in-situ conservation wherever possible.
Plants can be ethically sourced from other countries. Thailand has a huge tropical plant industry. I talk about poaching all the time on my channel. Reducing poaching is one of the main benefits of tissue culture
I'm also a big Aquascape/Fish nerd and the tissue culture plant market is mostly in Europe and Asia, at this point, as it's simply cheaper and easier to grow them outdoors places, like here in FL. I've even spoken to some prominent "FishTubers" about it. They would like to offer "plants in jars" at their stores too, but it seems cost prohibitive at this point, but perhaps it's simply a matter of scale. If you make enough something, they start to become very cheap.
You sooo need a sink. I hope they give you a more appropriate room soon! But I love what you're doing so far combining both my loves house plants and tissue cultures.
Fingers crossed on the ghost orchid!! I live in MS and they are also supposed to be native to my area too. I would love to be able to start working on bringing them back to certain wetland habitats around my area and tissue culture would be the only affordable way I could do this.🤞
Love your grow! pun intended, i come from the world of native plant and habitat restoration, i hope to one day apply culture tissue techniques on rare and endangered microendemic plants, your chanel is very very inspirational to pursue my goals
I was looking forward to this video since you announced it elsewhere and I finally got to sit down and watch it. Congratulations on the new space and I love your content, it’s a very inspirational story for me to aspire to. Can’t wait to see what the future holds.
Congratulations on everything, I’ve genuinely enjoyed your content and watching you evolve your channel! Excellent work, super happy for you! Also, thank you for the information and education… Can’t wait to get a setup of my own.
Best wishes with the orchids. Orchid Thief was a hoot, so Florida. Plus Adaptation added its own weird layer. Inspired by youtube, I'm hoping to learn about tissue culture on tulips. I found 10.17660/ActaHortic.1992.325.57 but imagine more has been developed since it was published.
Please never apologize to me for calling me a nerd again. It's simply the truth.
Loved the outro! So cute. You’ve come so far in the past 3-4 years. It gives me hope for my own dreams. ❤

Congrats on the new space, so excited to see what you start working on 😁
You're now OSHA compliant :P I hope the new lab is an awesome experience for you and none of your plants eat the interns.
Last seconds made me cry 🥲 support from 🇮🇹
Great job! 👏🏾 Congratulations on the new space
okay im totally along for this journey (BBMSc) help me grow a garden across a catamaran, artifical lighting

Any tips on how to find a similar space with similar shared amenities like the autoclave?

Thanks for another great video 👍
I'm also a fan of Tropica and use alot of their plants in my aquarium and terrarium scapes
Wait...how is one able to bring plants into the states without them getting confiscated by customs?
Hi, I have a question. Where do you get your jars? It’s one of the only things you didn’t link in your supply list. It’s really hard to find jars with PP lids, and harder to find them semi-clear like yours.
Hey, really love ur vids. Can u plis make an aquatic plant tissue culture... I want to know if it also need the hardening process

Orchids take too long its allot of time to take up a slot on the rack thats my only issue with it I prefer stuff I can turn over every week.
Have you thought about "hemp". I know they would always love some good tissue culture to revitalize their gardens
This is the way
I ❤your RUclips channel content 🧫🔬🧪🌱🌿
You need to change your your channel banner. :)

I just got 3 begonias in the mail from your Etsy shop on Friday and they are in such good shape and I can’t wait to culture them!
Where did you buy the racks?
Can you tissue culture triploids ?

Can colloidal silver be used to disinfect tools and jars?
No, it is a plant hormone and would have various probably negative effects.
Keep it up!!

Create an automatic rocker system for the bioreactors. Would be super easy. One less thing to remember
I have a machine that rotates them :) I just need a get a longer extension cord for it
@@plantsinjars what machine? I'd be interested in one. I have the same bioreactors as you
