If time actually went backwards, the entropy of an enclosed system would decrease over time. This would mean that over time particles as well as energy of an enclosed system would focus into one point instead of spreading.

After reading the title, I expected something much simpler, but the complexity of the joke was just pure gold.

Honestly really well thought out, only misstep was them saying see you soon at the end, since if it was backwards it should have been a greeting like "hey there" and then they just leave

But in that case the whole dialogue would have to be backwards as well, and the speech too, so we would have to rewind the video for it to make sense.

Yeah, Rob Grant and Doug Naylor had a great idea when they wrote this idea back in 1989.
this very concept has been featured in several sci-fi shows and even 1 movie (that i know of) and i still can't quite wrap my head around the idea of someone just arriving old as dirt and then aging backwards. my main hang up is just the logistics of reproduction in such a world

Wouldn't really mater though as you have literally no free will in a universe that is tied to our universe but it running in reverse. As all actions or unactions are already predetermined so you can't actually change them.
As an example it is literally impossible to ever get injured in this world by doing anything since all injuries occur at hospitals. Also literally impossible to die since you begin life dead then revive then unage.
