One thing I would add is I have a 1972 Ford 3000 and I can still get parts for it. Either new old parts or new parts. That is really true with all the old tractors.

This was a really solid reply, and an enjoyable video. One thing I would argue, no matter the brand your dealership can make or break the whole relationship from the start.

Completely agree... I bought from a small town John Deere dealership which I'd say did okay in the initial sale. The dealership was bought by a major regional player that wasn't great at the start but has stepped it up since. I think with all the brand consolidation there will be existing dealerships that switch brands and thus you have a, hopefully, tried and true dealership with experience that has been around the block as well. Thanks for watching and replying!

One thing I can say is I would never say my deere is better than any other tractor but I will say it is way easier to get parts for and service if I need it. I love the summit tractors but when I looked at them they had no idea where the heck I could get it repaired if necessary. Around here if you don't have a deere kubota new holland or massey you could wait months to get it fixed. Please don't use apple to microsoft or streaming services because there is no comparison

Hey Jim, I think we are all mature enough to realize that no one brand, or product for that matter, is the best... We may have our biases but at the end of the day each buyer has to decide what matters most to them... for some, they will never fork out that additional $x thousand dollars to get a green or orange tractor because it just doesn't make financial sense. For others, like me when i first bought my Deere, I didn't' even consider another brand because in my mind I had always heard Deere was the best and I passed it every time I went to my cabin so I knew where it was... Hindsight, I would have been better served buying orange which has two locations closer... Having my tractor picked up for service at Deere has been costly. All this said, and I understand that you didn't fully appreciate my brand comparisons, there are numerous factors in how a business goes to market and brand is a big item and it is 1) not built overnight and 2) its very very expensive... Competitive advantage is a hard thing to keep when the market is crowded but it will level out for a while as Neil mentions. My point on Netflix is they have enjoyed being #1 for some time but now they are fulling the pressure as people decide to put their money into other services... and I do feel that is on par with what happens to any product when market competition heats up. Anyways, great discussion and thanks for taking the time to watch and reply... As I said, Neil isn't wrong and isn't a bad guy, but I too have an opinion on his points and his tactics that I wanted to share... :-) Have a great day!

@@HardyBrothersOutdoors it is easier tho to jump entertainment businesses and cell service providers if you are not satisfied because you basically don't lose anything. A cheap $20k tractor tho,you are basically stuck or you are going to lose a gang of money because no one is going to pay a premium price for a already "inexpensive" tractor because a new one is inepensive. Also your deere or kubota dealer won't give you much on trade in either. That is basically what I meant by not comparing entertainment or cell phone services to buying a tractor. If price were as important we'd all be using flip phones lol I too am an apple iphone guy but not because it is the best but basically it is what I am used to and don't want to spend time learning an android platform. They change the iphones but still very intuitive to me lol

You are the second RUclips channel that I subscribe to, which brings up Neil's video on the other brands. I thought he was being fair about it. However, as someone with 40 years of business experience, I agree that not everyone is going to survive at these post pandemic sales levels. I won't hazard to guess who will survive and who won't.
    However, a couple of observations:
We have already seen some consolidation by TYM absorbing Branson.
Secondly, Summit tractors' success will be tied to Solis success in the USA market and how willing people are to buy in a different channel than a dealer network.
Let's also not kid ourselves that John Deere and Kubota will do nothing in the face of new competition. I imagine that they add features to compete better. That is the beauty of competition. It makes everyone better.

I agree on ALL points! I think his video was largely fair too, but my point as a marketing and sales professional, it's 100% intended to help him sell more... which is expected and entirely in his right to do so. I just think it's an important topic to hit from all sides so people are informed. I also saw Brock's video and expect there will be more on the horizon since he took a bit of a shot at influencers making videos about tractors. lol Thanks for watching and commenting!

What your saying is probably true about FUD.
When I buy a tractor or vehicle, dealer support is very important to me. I want them as close to me as possible. I want them to be able to fix my equipment and get parts in a very reasonable time frame. And want there to be a very high probability that they will be around to do all I need and support.
And I want good people to work with.
So the probability of a business being around is top priority. Above value.
I've experienced a dealer going out of business within a year of them selling me a product. But the key factor is the brand stepped up and stood behind their product and found me another dealer to honor their product warranty and service and it didn't cost me anything.
The brand has to be able to accomplish this financially and be willing. There were thousands of people out in the cold because this dealer went out of business.

These are most definitely fair requests and expectations... And I think Neil's points are valid, these are risks... That is why FUD works... Tried and true is often safer but it comes at a cost... New may be riskier which "could" come at a cost... The questions is do you have the stomach to take the risk or are you happier going the safe route. It often comes down to the individual. But make no mistake, marketing is all about appealing to one's emotions and Fear is a powerful emotion. Thanks for watching and taking the time to share your thoughts!

      @HardyBrothersOutdoors
It's a legitimate fear and the good Lord gave us this emotion to avoid pain and suffering. Wisdom comes to mind.
We've all heard the success stories from rags to ruches but I am persuaded to believe that for every winner of rolling the dice there is a substantially larger number that experienced the pain and suffering not to mention gaining wisdom hopefully.

The best thing for the consumer is competition! For the people with shallow pockets the less known brands that are still a solid product is a no brainer. I'm going to be in the market for a sub 40hp machine in about a year. A year ago I was all set on a JD. Now with the TYM, Solis , Summit and a few others that RUclipsrs have given us hours and hours of content to see what they can do just about has removed JD from my list just by price alone. I'm handy and if i need to take a day or two longer to get parts its no big deal. My wallet is thin and I'm willing to trade that for the dealer availability. Great Video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been in this industry for a long time as a dealership owner and Territory Manager for several of these brands.
There are those I would buy and several listed I would run far away from. Frankly, all of these are pretty good machines. But, several of the manufacturers don't care about the sale after the retail. That is one of the things as a buyer I would really really be wary of. Dealer network, how many dealers have popped up in an area with a brand after others dropped it and other signs of problems with the manufacturer.
I know, I worked for some of them and I would not spend my hard earned money on them at all.
Some of these brands are amazing and and a great value. You need to really do your home, talk to owners, go talk to the dealers about parts support and warranty and spend your money wisely.
The landscape is changing in the USA tractor market.

Be careful, some of the brands customers are waiting for parts for 6 to 8 months.

Dan, you are right on so many levels. I bought a John Deere when the finances were, well better than they are now, and I didn't know any better and didn't have experience in owning a tractor. Now that I have been lucky enough to compare 3 brands, albeit not necessarily the same HP tractor, I am more informed on the fact that each has its pros and cons. I look forward to hearing about your tractor purchase and the good news is, you have lots of content across many channels to hear from others what they think... Thanks for the continued support!
