Stunning location. The sunshine really brought to life the vivid colours of the landscape and the sky. Love the fact you caught the whole ridge of the hill as if a weather fortress to the surrounding area to keep out the worst elements of a cold wind.

    LADYBOWER RESERVOIR
This was the last of three reservoirs to be constructed in Derwent Dale, work began in 1935 and it was officially opened ten years later. During the construction two villages had to be destroyed and the village rehoused. Lying some 100 feet underneath Ashopton viaduct is the village of Ashopton, while over a mile north from the viaduct is the submerged village of Derwent which it is possible to see in times of drought.
Ladybower Reservoir covers 504 acres and has a capacity of 6,300 million gallons.
Derwent Reservoir which was completed in 1916 and holds 2,120 million gallons,
The third one is Howden Reservoir which was opened in 1912 and contains 1,980 million gallons. This wooded valley with its three reservoirs was used in the making of the film 'The Dambusters'.

Really enjoyed this walk. It's a few years since I last visited. Now I'm older I no longer drive so it's not so easy to get to. I'd forgotten how beautiful it is.

    Loved this Neil.
It's exactly the sort of walks I used to love to do in my 20's with my Dog, I made some of my happiest memories walking.
Unfortunately now in my early forties I can walk as far as this anymore due to Osteoarthritis in my Knees & pains in my ankles.
Really felt like I was seeing this place.
I've never seen or heard of it before but what a lovely place & a beautiful Reservoir 💚🌲I love the colours of the Trees in the sunlight!

I think I've been up Bamford Edge - I remember losing my footing on the way down and doing roly poly's down the hill - all whilst on a video call to my girlfriend 🤣

Another great video Neil, a total contrast to the Lincoln Christmas Market one we watched the other night! I know which I prefer, the peace and tranquility of Ladybower any day of the week👍🏻
