John James I love a bit of coming, only short s ection so easy to scramble up. very slippy though a resl challenge doing all the walk. thanks for wathing Pat
Patrick's route description for this classic Derbyshire walk is spot on. Every compass bearing works exactly and every little comment placed at the right point. The footage of Wildboar's waterfalls are particularly helpful. In good weather it took me just under 12 hours, including refreshment stops....so a good days walk. Roughly 4 hrs to Crowden, 4 to Snake Road, 4 with tired legs over Kinder to Edale. Enjoy it ! Tony ( 72 )
You did well there Tony a classic walk, something to remember , and a amazing walk across the Dark Peak. The size of those waterfalls were a bit deceiving untill you get up close to them. The one I still want to do is the Derwent Watershed, 40 odd miles, probably bivvying over 3 days for me now, all the best Pat
30 years ago when I used to do the Marsden-Edale race we always avoided the Kinder crossing due to it being December. We would run further round to the left and end up just short of Ringing Roger then throw ourselves down with giant leaps (as fell runners do) taking only minutes to get down to Grinsbrooke.
Another great experience, thank you Pat. Have not done any walking like this due to health issues, watching this i can understand why and will have a go myself, the views were fantastic.
Great video of a classic walk not one for the faint hearted. Loved the shot of you stood on the rocks looking out to Manchester. Looked like Batman from the movie the Dark knight with a cape billowing in the wind. 👍
Hi Richard yes this was such a classic walk I had to do it, very tough going but when you set your mind on something you just go for it. Must try and camp at that location, looking down on Manchester……thanks Pat
I have watched several of your videos now Pat and every one has been well made and entertaining. I used to do a little walking myself but am now 61 and have just had a knee replacement. Seeing your videos has given me the determination to get fit and get my boots back on. Thank you.
This came up in recommended videos and despite being subbed and having watched most of your videos somehow I missed this so a real treat to watch it now
Thanks Mick and great to have you along on all my videos , this was a great challenge walk, glad I did it a few years when much fitter..... thanks Pat 👍
Hi Patrick, it was great fun to watch this video. A few spots looked familar to me, as I did the Pennine Way in 2015. Thank you for showing me a bit more from the left and right surroundings along the PW. #stay safe
Hi Thomas, you did well to do the Pennine Way, I,ve thought of it but that's as far as I got, beautiful countryside up there, and hopefully brought back some memories, all the best Pat
Did this route over 30 years ago in the Tanky's Trog race. Did it 3 years on the trot in December in just Heli Hansen tights and top. All three races where in really wet and misty conditions. We had a different route up Black hill each year but the rest was always the same. There was no paving stones then, Bleaklow was particularly bad, remember going in up to my waist in a Peat bog. But I absolutely loved it and miss those days now.
Hi Malcolm yes the route I followed although in a pretty direct line avoided most of the bogs as they have now been paved, Blackhill was like following a footpath, don t know how you went on before. Doing the walk in summer helped with the mud and peat, although still thirsty work with all the accent, glad I did it, thanks Pat
This brought back memories of searching Kinder and Bleaklow in the dark or bad weather for people who were unprepared, can't navigate or fall into the trap of following the groughs and not thier bearings. Thanks for the memories 😉
Red Ferret Adventures Hi and thanks for comments, so easy to get lost up there as I have on several occasions. Once that must comes down then without compass or GPS then your lost as I,am sure you are well aware, glad it brought back memories, Pat
Patrick Dickinson ... I'm reminded of a balmy July night searching the plateau with 3 other teams looking for a tourist who'd undertaken to walk the PW using an AA road map...I kid you not. That and freezing my cods off on Higher Shelf Stones or Seal Edge waiting for Marsden to Edale runners to pass through my checkpoint. Thankfully I only go up there for pleasure these days. Love the channel.
I believe you have a bit of mountain goat in your DNA... my goodness you made climbing those waterfalls look easy! I have yet to watch a boring video!! So glad l subscribed...Keep the Adventures going Pat!!
A wonderful video, some stunning photography and you must be very proud of the final results. I wonder how many times you have been back, maybe I will find out as I progress through your catalogue, so dont let on if you see this comment! The hikes on compass bearing reminded me of doing Ten Tors on Dartmoor, lots of bogs to take you by surpirse there!! Good luck from Spain!! PS: The wind is from the south today (15th March 2022) and is bringing up sand from the Saharra, I expect you might get some of it as well, even though we are so far south there is a lot of fresh snow being laid high up in the mountains
Hey, great video Pat. Brings back many happy memories. Inspired to do it again now. Thinkings after work on a Friday, camp up on Bleaklow then finish up the following morning.
Hi the views were really good although a lot of time my head was down walking as fast as I could to keep to my schedule, or once I got to the top of this hill then a hour of down hill to look forward to. great feeling of satisfaction when done, I could tick that one off the list. Derwent Watershed the big one to do next, maybe next year. Thanks for watching and commenting Pat
Thanks Susan, I was fitter then, not sure if I could do few years on, in those days I walked a lot and did a bit og camping, I,am more of a camper that does a bit of walking now, all the best Pat
Great stuff. Really enjoyed this and many of your other videos. Such excellent sound on your videos too. Makes it all the more enjoyable. Have subscribed.
Mick Sanderson Hi Mick fantastic walk and amazing views on this one. If it's windy I always try and use a remote microphone with a dead cat muffler on makes all the difference to the audio quality. Thanks for your comments, appreciate them, Pat
Can only assume how much time and footage it took to film this. This applies to all your subsequent films. Your movies are the best pleasure I have had on RUclips.
I really enjoyed watching this. We attempted crossing the peat eh route back to Edale. It took so long, you reminded me just how hard it was, and dangerous.
Hi Andrew, been having a break and not so easy coming back, a bit like being on holiday, but have been filming and hopefully back soon....all the best Pat
I'm just getting in to hiking and camping and I'm currently planning some trips to the Peak District, it's a beautiful place and I long to be out there enjoying the views and getting away from it all. Watching all of your inspiring videos and seeing your enthusiasm, knowledge and sense of adventure, along side your great camera work makes it all so appealing :) Thanks Patrick :) all the best.
Top video Patrick and a great and long walk there! That one's going on my list - once I get Wildboar Clough done! Very informative and entertaining footage mate - cheers.
Thanks Steve, a classic walk this on, not a massive distance, but really tough going walking through the heather, not on footpaths. The scramble up Wild boar Cloth very exciting, but by the time I got to Kinder I was feeling it, glad I did it, all the best Pat
Thank you for the modern day view of Black Hill. It has changed. A couple of us passed that way in the early 1980s. Before the installation of the flag stone path. The trig point stood in sea of black churned up peat. The Pennine Way either side had turned into a twenty foot wide boggy mess. The area now looks a lot healthier.
Yes Dave I, ve read how you could nearly disappear into the black mud around Black Hil, it is now like walk in the park with a nice paved footpath, all the best Pat
I've recently started solo camping up chew valley/crowden with inspiration from your videos, and I aim to progress to places like kinder and the lake District. Thanks!
Arctic Monkey \o/ Did the walk couple of years ago when I was up for the challenge, not sure about doing it in winter though. Fantastic views and a great challenge, thanks again Pat
Another excellent video. Many thanks, Pat. It's fascinating to see how your presentation and filming skills have become even more professional over the years since these earlier films. Still very, very good, though. You're a complete natural at this.
I know this is an old one Pat but it’s definitely my favourite. Not tried WBC but will give it a go this summer using your route and bearings. I live in Tamworth so drive to Buxton get bus to Glossop then to Holmfirth then bus Marsden and walk to Edale. Then from Edale on the train one stop to Chinley then bus to Buxton. Could be quite an epic? Lol
Hi Pat, I’ve watched most of your videos if not all of them, I initially watched your disused railway tunnel videos as that’s a hobby of mine but soon became hooked on your wild camp and urban adventures, I plan to attempt the Marsden to Edale walk myself, Do you still do this easy year? Be very interested to see another video, Really enjoy your channel some fantastic content, Hopefully you’ll be back producing again soon, very much missed.
Hi Vincent, my channel started off as wild camping, but once I ventured underground I was amazed at these forgotten, but magnificent places, sort of tan out of local places to explore, so back to wild camping, my lifetime love, see you later on in the year....... thanks Pat
Hi Patrick, this is a great walk! I am not familiar with the route as a whole but definitely Marsden to Crowden and different parts of Bleaklow and Kinder Scout. Wildboar Clough is certainly out of my league these days and if I am perfectly honest would probably have struggled with that at my peak. But wow breathtaking scenes I need to get back in touch with. Very impressed with your videos so far. Re: Dean Clough. I have taken this on in all sorts of weather. Rain I have not found it too difficult as long as taken slowly on the descent. Deep snow is hard work though as the path on the near side can be impossible to make out - I ended up scrambling up that when tackling it in such weather the opposite direction to this video. The alternative route is longer and tougher - the end part of the link involves approaching Black Hill at a steeper angle including what can be some slippery stones - far more useful for getting down to Holme Village via Issues Road (track) shortly bringing you out onto the bus route from/to Huddersfield town centre.
Hi Michael yes a great classic walk, I was familiar with Kinder and part of Bleaklow, but the first section from Marsden and Black hill was completely new to me. I was a few years ago when I did this, it might be more of a challenge now..... thanks Pat
Paul Richmond thanks Paul, couple of years ago know but still remember it as a great challenge, Wildboar Clough was amazing, certainly bigger than you think, all the best Pat
Hi Mary yes that would be nice, just been trying some of your Cornish real ale called "Proper Job", very nice beer I must say. This was a very challenging walk but worth it at the end. Did it a couple of years ago, and still remember it, the weather was very warm. Thanks for your comments Mary always appreciated, thanks Pat
Bravo, Patrick! That was an enjoyable account. I've never done it in the classic North-South direction before, nor scrambled in Wildboar Clough. The compass bearings and directions will be useful if I do it soon, as I intend to. Good luck with your annual crossings - especially the winter one!
Hi David Thanks for comments, I going to do the crossing again in March, I realise that at this time of the year there is not enough daylight and with the ground conditions so wet I hope to do it when ground is frozen.
Great Video I did Wildboar Clough last week and have been doing numerous scrambles in the area you have covered. (Just got back from Doctors Gate from Old Glossop up to plane crash site) Will try this route after watching. Very inspiring. Great Post...
awesome waterfalls ...very tiring setting the camera up and climbing and then you have to come back down to retrieve it ...ever thought to invest in a head cam some good cheap Chinese on the market , would be good some up close shots while your climbing, thanks for the video, wow a drone would be great in that area..
Englishman in Malta yeah made this couple of years ago and yes very tiring backwards and forwards, but wanted to show the size of these waterfalls should offline a separate video on this part, thanks Pat
Hi started watching your posts . Great is the word that comes to mind. Only live in worksop and going to start wild camping myself the info i have got from your posts is top quality. Keep up the good work
Wow, I am amazed by this vlog. Packed full of help and information. When you were on that outcrop you really did look like a caped crusader with your coat flapping in the wind. That waterfall climb was bad enough but to think that you filmed yourself in each section from the bottom and from the top means you did each section 2 1/2 times at least. This definitely showed the skill and cinematography. Outstanding. One question, well three really. Are you still doing the yearly hike? What was your actual milage point to point and lastly with taking a compass bearing and with magnet North currently less than or just greater than 1 degree is it necessary to adjust for this when hiking? I can map read and remember from my Scout days but wonder if I should with a hike from say Snake Pass to Overwood Moss and on to Alport Moor? Brilliant vlog and appreciate any advice.
Hi Chris, yes a classic Peak District walk this at the time of this video I had been doing alot of 20 to 30 mike walks and felt very fit, RUclips sort of took over and less walking, more camping, so I did not repeat the walk each year as I had planned. The route is basically a straight line and I measured it around 21 miles, but quite tough going in places, for the compass r bearing the variation does vary so you'll have to Google present variation..... all the best Pat 👍
great video again pat. I can see how much effort you put into the video. All the beautiful wilderness on your doorstep, and its only about 50 miles from where I am ( Wigan )
+Billy Sherratt Hi billy Yes this one took a bit of filming but it was a great challenge to do this classic walk. I have thoughts of doing the Derwent watershed, 40 miles but I would do it over 2 days and bivvy half way, will have to wait till next year now. Thanks Pat
Winter crossing Kinder is Amazing.. We climbed up Crowden Clough and the waterfall was frozen in the most bizarre manner.. It ran underneath an icy bubbly crust!
Colin Tonkasdad hi Colin a classic walk I always wanted to do but a bit hardgoing those hills but got to push myself to finish it, worth it in the end. If I left till I was older might not of done it, thanks Pat
simon e68 Your very welcome, mostly wild camping but do go off on other adventures like underground exploring and a bit of train travel. If you look at my latest bids you will see me tree camping, something a little bit different, all the best Pat
Have you made that walk since 2014 ? You don't seem to be ageing at all ! I look forward to watching your winter crossing ! I walked across Bleaklow in winter, it was great because it was frozen solid, the groughs were frozen, the peat was frozen !
The advantages of winter and frozen ground, no not walked it since and I would struggle now, tend to do shorter walk and enjoy the camping side of things now, slowly getting older I,am afraid, thanks Pat
Great video Patrick! Just got back from doing this route today - I've done a lot of rock climbing and some of these waterfalls were really quite tricky to navigate. We too reached a decision fairly quickly to avoid that final large, slimy, slippy waterfall! I must say the filming is great and what gets me the most is the amount of effort you must have put in to get those vantage points and shots - I'd put enough effort in getting up once yet alone coming back down to collect your gear! Good luck with your future pursuits, Mike
+Michael Leach Hi Michael, It was a great challenge walk especially as it had been going for so long even in my grandparents time. Wildboar Clough was a spectacular and interesting part to film, the fact that it was June meant the waterfalls were just a trickle, but still wet and slimy from a distance they don,t look to bad but when you get up close common sense kicks in and like you the easy way up. Thanks for watching and comments, all the best Pat
+Ian Macfarlane Hi nice to hear from you Ian, looking out the window tonight you should have some fantastic walking in the snow. have a great day all the best, Pat
Fabulous video - have you managed the annual trip? Pennine Way 1976... now I understand why Edale to Crowden was a whole day! (With pack for 2 1/2 weeks, no slabs!) Did 40th Anniversary trip... navigation was certainly simpler but in awe of your fitness!
Gerard Whittle Hi Gerard nonever did the winter trip, too many other thing on the go. Still walk but not so far now, may need a longer day to compete it now.Great area to walk with some amazing views, all the best Pat
Yes amazing wild moorlands up there, I have come across several crash sites, if you think of all the aircrew that have lost the lives in crashes, must be hundreds up there, Pat
You have probably climbed Mam Tor and walked to Edale. I once did that and people say on a clear day you can see Stockport and Manchester from there. Sadly i didn't as it was misty. beautiful views though.
Michael Langley Been up Mam For great view but not sure about view of Manchester as Kinder Scout and Brown Knoll in way. From Kinder Plateau you can get a great view of Manchester, thanks for watching Pat
Hi Pat, Really enjoyed watching this. A video of a winter crossing would be absolutely epic. Cannot timagine Wildboar Clough would be feasible though. Frozen I suppose it would be a serious mountaineering expedition or on a milder day if in spate it would be quite impossible. Do you know about the little both above halfway rocks in Grindsbrook? Let me know if you don't. I don't really want to give the precise location away to all and sundry. I would however gladly share it with you. There is something I think called a non public comment facility on RUclips. I'll investigate that and try and use it if you would like me to let you know. It's a handy little spot with a fantastic view from the entrance. All best Fred Ridall.
Hi Fred, hav,nt got round to doing a winter crossing yet,not as fit as I was when made this video, and we don,t seem to get the snowy winters. I don,t now the place you mention and would be interested. I do not know my way round a computer too much, once I was messing about and found a load of non public messages that had been sent to me but did not know they were there. felt a bit embarrassed reply to messages people had sent me months ago. Would appear we are learning all the time, hope to hear from you soon all the best Pat
Hey Pat have you ever camped out up in Otley or Ilkley West Yorkshire. Both me and my wife are binging out on all of your videos enjoying our lockdown we were just wondering that's all we both love your videos especially the exploration videos you do I myself have a fascination with old disused railways and tunnels viaducts etc.
Hi Rickardo, no never camped up that way, tend to stay local in the Peak District, and still finding new places to camp. Having to travel further a field now to find new places to explore now, but nice visiting new places, thanks Pat
I've recently discovered your channel, and love your content. I live between Disley and Stockport so I know the area, and may very well work up to trying that myself. You did make Kinder plateau look easy 😂
That walk was amazing , you would have to be very fit to do it , i would have no hope . Your solo so you have to back track to retrieve your camera for the shots of you climbing etc so the walk would be longer and more tricky , thanks for a great walk and narrative :-)
That's one tough walk, as well as doing the running around with the camera. Yes isn't moorland tough going, I live near Rivington typical water catchment moorland and its miserable when its wet.
Sorry for delay in answering must of missed comment. It was a great walk not as bad as I thought it would be picked good weather and dropped water off on Snake. Early start helped Thanks for watching and comments all the best Pat
With all the tooing and frowing climbing up and then back down to retrieve your camera you must have added at least 2 or 3 miles to that walk never mind the extra time it must take. Now that drones have become so popular ever thought about using one with a camera😊 would save your legs a bit. Great video👍👍👍
Antoinette France Hi Antoinette yes it was a lot of hard work but I wanted to show the scale and climbs. A drone would of given a great view, one day perhaps, my head is full of new ideas, trips and various plans so no room for drones yet but maybe one day, nice to hear your comments, Pat
Very skilfully done Patrick with superb filming skills. You must do miles placing and retrieving the camera mate!! Thoroughly enjoyed it my friend. ATB Dr Paul
I have to ask Patrick, how old were you when you did this trip? I've been binge watching your videos as I've only just found your channel but the one video you did " I swear this is a wild camping video" do you know that after a few pints you sound like Brendan Grace lol ruclips.net/video/CUHS2_y1xLk/видео.html
UrbCrafterUnplugged hi I ,am 62 now so about 59/60 when did walk this, I was doing a long distance, 20 miles plus every couple of weeks so was very fit at the time, I might struggle a bit now, thanks Pat
Hi Glyn, I,am afraid not anything as daring, I was a Electrical Power Engineer for 40 years, working outside and had a great time. Always loved the challenge of the great outdoors, thanks Pat
Hi Pat, love the videos, thanks. Just wondered how long the walk via this route takes? I'd like to have a go but not sure if there's enough daylight to complete in Feb.
Hi Phil, 5years ago, can, t fully remember probably around 9 hours, hard part was getting from Sheffield to start at Marsden on the train. You might struggle with enough daylight at moment, suppose depends on how fit you are, I did it in June, plenty of daylight and pretty dry, all the best if you try it, thanks Pat
Patrick Dickinson thanks for the advice. I think I’ll leave it until later in the year, my fitness isn’t too bad but I anticipate getting lost a good few times! Looking forward to the next video, all the best
Hello Mr.Dickinson, are you planning your annual Wildboar Clough walk in 2021. Can I follow you? I could book my annual leave and try keeping up with you. Thank you.
This is something I am planning to do with my son later in the year, doing it from South to North. Would you advise us to do North to South ? Is there an advantage to North to South ?
Hi Malcom yes a great challenge walk to do, I walked north to South so I would end up at Edale, easy get back to Sheffield on train, Marsden was time consuming to get to on the train, and I likes the idea of walking home. Not too bad the walking if you are fit, 3 really steep accents, all the best Pat
Good you didnt stop at the Railway hotei Pat,in Marston, good lad,I would not have been that disciplined, only would've been the one pint though with was was ahead of you
Great Britain is such a beautiful place. Thanks for sharing Pat.
Yes some beautiful areas, sometimes the weather could be better..... thanks Pat
You're doing all this twice, Patrick, I think that's very admirable. Love the walks!
Great area to walk on, yes a lot of backwards and forwards but the vidio had to look right, thanks Pat
instablaster
you must be one hell of a fit guy the way you made all that look so easy.
loved the video work
John James I love a bit of coming, only short s

Beautiful video. The bit where you are standing in the distance on a rock outcropping was magnificent.
Great spot, you can see Manchester from there, perhaps a good spot to camp, thanks Pat
Bloody hell, Patrick! that waterfall looks awesome and almost impassible!
Very impressive waterfalls, and yes very steep, alot bigger than they initially look..... all the best Pat
Another great experience, thank you Pat. Have not done any walking like this due to health issues, watching this i can understand why and will have a go myself, the views were fantastic.
Yes Lance, there was a fantastic view round every bend, the northern edge is the best, and very few people about ! ... all the best Pat
Great video of a classic walk not one for the faint hearted. Loved the shot of you stood on the rocks looking out to Manchester. Looked like Batman from the movie the Dark knight with a cape billowing in the wind. 👍

Fantastic walk and description of the route Patrick. Iv'e had a pint on the pub at Marsden on the Ale trail from Huddersfield back to Piccadilly
Yep did the rail ale trail myself a couple of years ago, some nice pubs, thanks Pat
I have watched several of your videos now Pat and every one has been well made and entertaining. I used to do a little walking myself but am now 61 and have just had a knee replacement. Seeing your videos has given me the determination to get fit and get my boots back on. Thank you.
James Watts Hi James just to get out again will be great for you and move on from the knee op, hope everything goes well, all the best Pat
Patrick, thank you for sharing your experiences! You are an adventurous spirit
Thanks James, great area to walk and camp, thanks Pat

I am not sure I'd be as proficient scrambling and climbing the big rocks. Well done!
Not too bad the scrambling, just got to take care, great walk, thanks Pat
Jumping scenes wer amazing...worth watching...very fit...keep going Sir.
Thanks Jaffer, amazing walk, and great fun jumping the groughs....all the best Pat

Hi pat just found your channel really enjoying it, gosh you enjoy a challenge... love the wild camps, keep the videos coming & keep up the good work
Hi Jackey and thanks for kind comments, I like to challenge myself I think so I can proved to myself I ,am not old yet, all the best Pat
Just... beautiful views! I'm enjoy the trip ☺. Tks for sharing. 👍
Hi Carlos yes some great views of the wild Peak District, thanks for watching Pat
Absolutely brilliant - I must admit I would have chickened out of the waterfalls at Wildboar Clough and gone up Torside Clough instead.
Yes those waterfalls were bigger than you think, but had to climb up, a classic journey across our northern Moors, ...... all the best Pat
I believe you have a bit of mountain goat in your DNA... my goodness you made climbing those waterfalls look easy! I have yet to watch a boring video!! So glad l subscribed...Keep the Adventures going Pat!!
Thanks Paul, from a distance those waterfalls look so small, but when you get near them they are massive, such a great challenging walk, thanks Pat

Yes read about the sand on the news, and the sky turning orange, this was a classic walk and pretty tuff, but thats the challenge.....thanks Pat
Another fantastic video Patrick ..
Thanks Alan, such a classic walk......Pat
Hey, great video Pat. Brings back many happy memories. Inspired to do it again now. Thinkings after work on a Friday, camp up on Bleaklow then finish up the following morning.
Such a great walk Dave, sound a good plan to split it with a camp.... all the best Pat
I thoroughly enjoyed the video, lots of fantastic views with good advice and commentary.
Hi the views were really good although a lot of time my head was down walking as fast as I could to keep to my schedule, or once I got to the top of this hill then a hour of down hill to look forward to. great feeling of satisfaction when done, I could tick that one off the list. The jumping shots were great! You are one seriously fit man. Thanks for another great video 👍🏼🤗
Loved your walk pat, I know you have been un well recently and looking forward to your future adventures 😀
Hi Andy thanks for the kind thoughts, luckly I'm fully recovered and fighting fit.....a classic walk this..... all the best Pat
Predictive text, don,t know where Andy came from..... thanks Pat
The rock formations are absolutely stunning.
Bravo for climbing wild boar clough twice. You had to get back and get your camera gear again.
Thanks 👍....yes a lot of backwards and forwards, but gets me the footage I want...thanks Pat
Can only assume how much time and footage it took to film this. This applies to all your subsequent films. Your movies are the best pleasure I have had on RUclips.
Thanks Peter, really pleased you enjoy my videos, I love making them, keeps me active and interested, thanks Pat
I really enjoyed watching this. We attempted crossing the peat eh route back to Edale. It took so long, you reminded me just how hard it was, and dangerous.
Yeah so easy to get lost up there, and that peat, it just wants to sick you in, all the best Pat
Great trek Pat, thanks for making this I really enjoyed the adventure.
Your very welcome Marcus, a classic high level walk, very direct, just a straight line between Marsden and Edale, all the best Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 have a great Christmas and not to many pints 😄
Brilliant. I hope youre still doing it Patrick!
Hi Andrew, been having a break and not so easy coming back, a bit like being on holiday, but have been filming and hopefully back soon....all the best Pat
Another great video. Those waterfalls are amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Nick sorry for delay in answering, the waterfalls are a great sight especially in winter when theirs more water coming down, all the best Pat
I'm just getting in to hiking and camping and I'm currently planning some trips to the Peak District, it's a beautiful place and I long to be out there enjoying the views and getting away from it all. Watching all of your inspiring videos and seeing your enthusiasm, knowledge and sense of adventure, along side your great camera work makes it all so appealing :)
Thanks Patrick :) all the best.
Thanks Colin, yes beautiful place the Peak District, always find a different place to camp each time I go out, thanks Pat
Loved the jumping on Kinder !
Hi Cliff...yes a old pastime down here, jumping groughs and bog trotting..... thanks Pat
I've recently started solo camping up chew valley/crowden with inspiration from your videos, and I aim to progress to places like kinder and the lake District. Thanks!
I,am sure you will have a fantastic time, each camp is like a mini adventure, all the best Pat 👍
Thank you for sharing your knowledge along your journey... 👍
Thanks John, remember filming this one, alot of hard work with my heavy DSLR, new lighter gear and new tequniques has helped, thanks Pat
Lol
Hi Bernard yes a great walk, summer will be best, more daylight and less boggy, take plenty of water its thirsty work, all the best Pat
I was a few years ago when I did this, it might be more of a challenge now..... thanks Pat
ohh man the wind ,wow too much wind brother but overhall love your adventure.fairwell patrick a hug from sintra, portugal.
stem digital IS A SCAM hi and thanks for comments yes about wild up there but that sort of attracts you up there, all the best Pat
Top man.......keep it up. I'm fancying going up Wildboar Clough but then back down Torside/ Pennine Way....just for a stroll. :)
Paul Richmond thanks Paul, couple of years ago know but still remember it as a great challenge, Wildboar Clough was amazing, certainly bigger than you think, all the best Pat
That was fantastic. Wish you lived in Cornwall! You are fearless!
Thanks Danny, just looking through old vidios and comments that I missed, such a beautiful wild area, be back up there soon, thanks Pat
awesome waterfalls ...very tiring setting the camera up and climbing and then you have to come back down to retrieve it ...ever thought to invest in a head cam some good cheap Chinese on the market , would be good some up close shots while your climbing, thanks for the video, wow a drone would be great in that area..
Keep up the good work
Hi Wayne sorry must of missed your comment, your not far away and a lot of countryside round Clumber area for you to camp, all the best Pat
I believe Edale goes into Cowburn tunnel 3 big ones on the hope valley line Totley and Disley tunnels as well .
Thanks Leslie, will have a read about them, thanks Pat
The route is basically a straight line and I measured it around 21 miles, but quite tough going in places, for the compass r
bearing the variation does vary so you'll have to Google present variation..... all the best Pat 👍
great video Patrick, I enjoyed following your journey. Thanks for uploading :)
Thanks Colin, big challenge this one, had to film Wildboar Clough as a separate bit, thanks Pat
great video again pat.
Thanks Pat
sounds great pat. looking forward to watching it
Winter crossing Kinder is Amazing.. We climbed up Crowden Clough and the waterfall was frozen in the most bizarre manner.. It ran underneath an icy bubbly crust!
JETJOOBOY I ,be been up on Kinder in the snow for last 30 years great place and ok if you have , knowledge of the area, Pat
nice walk and a first i think to mention compass and bearing... so well done on the jumps and going down hills just is a no with my knees...cheers
Colin Tonkasdad hi Colin a classic walk I always wanted to do but a bit hardgoing those hills but got to push myself to finish it, worth it in the end. If I left till I was older might not of done it, thanks Pat
Not watched you recently, always nice to revisit, 😊
Thanks Nigel, hope to be camping up on Kinder soon, thanks Pat
Just found you on you tube, loving the vids, your learning me about wild camping, thank you 😁
simon e68 Your very welcome, mostly wild camping but do go off on other adventures like underground exploring and a bit of train travel.
Another great video ! Thank you Sir !
Hi sorry I must of missed your comments, a great walk and a real challenge, thanks for watching Pat
Good luck with your future pursuits,
Mike
+Michael Leach Hi Michael, It was a great challenge walk especially as it had been going for so long even in my grandparents time. Wildboar Clough was a spectacular and interesting part to film, the fact that it was June meant the waterfalls were just a trickle, but still wet and slimy from a distance they don,t look to bad but when you get up close common sense kicks in and like you the easy way up. Thanks for watching and comments, all the best Pat
another great vid patrick,up there myself tomorrow!!!!
+Ian Macfarlane Hi nice to hear from you Ian, looking out the window tonight you should have some fantastic walking in the snow. have a great day all the best, Pat
really excellent video! nice weather - all in one day?! wow
Hi Paul not a bad walk in nice weather, three big climbs but level and downhill rest of it, thanks Pat
Your super fit! 💪🏋️♂️ amazing vid thanku 👍❤
Thanks Caroline couple of years on now, and feeling a little bit older, thanks for watching Pat
Outstanding performance
Fabulous video - have you managed the annual trip?
Pennine Way 1976... now I understand why Edale to Crowden was a whole day! (With pack for 2 1/2 weeks, no slabs!) Did 40th Anniversary trip... navigation was certainly simpler but in awe of your fitness!
Gerard Whittle Hi Gerard nonever did the winter trip, too many other thing on the go. Still walk but not so far now, may need a longer day to compete it now.Great area to walk with some amazing views, all the best Pat
Great video Pat great views of the open moorlands I was on kinder scout long time ago looking for the old WW2 aircraft crash sites
Yes amazing wild moorlands up there, I have come across several crash sites, if you think of all the aircrew that have lost the lives in crashes, must be hundreds up there, Pat
Patrick Dickinson yes sadly very true Pat. Keep up the good work really enjoyed the railway tunnel films too
@@BugRacer1955 thanks Pat
You have probably climbed Mam Tor and walked to Edale. I once did that and people say on a clear day you can see Stockport and Manchester from there. Sadly i didn't as it was misty. beautiful views though.
Michael Langley Been up Mam For great view but not sure about view of Manchester as Kinder Scout and Brown Knoll in way. From Kinder Plateau you can get a great view of Manchester, thanks for watching Pat
my 7 year old grand daughter think's pat look's like a super hero stood on the edge of kinder scout
That bolder field looks fun. Pain in the ass having to back for the camera isn't it lol
All best
Fred Ridall.
Fantastic!! Loved this vid!!
Hi Brendon, this was a walk I wanted to do for a long time as it was such a classic high peak walk. Thanks for comments and watching Pat
Hi Neil such a beautiful area to roam, this is quite a challenge but that's the fun of it, thanks Pat
You're jumping was exquisite.
ged mcgaffin thanks for that, Just to prove I am not getting old. Pat
he rehearsed mentally by watching the Grand National!! :-)
Just started watching this video, it looks very interesting, better than the BBC. :)
Great to ha e you along Andy, such a fantastic walk.... thanks Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 I hope to visit this place, my vids are very tame compared to yours Pat, you have some great content. 😉
That walk was amazing , you would have to be very fit to do it , i would have no hope . Your solo so you have to back track to retrieve your camera for the shots of you climbing etc so the walk would be longer and more tricky , thanks for a great walk and narrative :-)
Thanks for the comments, it was a tough walk, and I don,t think I could do it know, especially with all the filming, thanks Pat
A drone would of given a great view, one day perhaps, my head is full of new ideas, trips and various plans so no room for drones yet but maybe one day, nice to hear your comments, Pat
you are the man!
ourtechwriter thanks for that, Pat
Very skilfully done Patrick with superb filming skills. You must do miles placing and retrieving the camera mate!! Thoroughly enjoyed it my friend. ATB Dr Paul
DrTeno Guy Hi yes it was hard work filming myself and going back for the camera but I was after a quality film, worth it in the end, thanks Pat
Is Butterley the Butterley Gangroad (Bullbridge Lime works) that has the oldest railway tunnel under it?
Not sure myself, but your probably correct, thanks Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 ruclips.net/video/SKVq3-zpi64/видео.html YT video on it.
Excellent video.
Paul Young thanks for that, not sure I could walk it in a day now but glad I did it, thanks Pat
Very glad you didn't attempt that second waterfall! 🤣
BTW who goes back to pick up the camera?
Double jeopardy!
Yes bit risky that one, oh and it's me backwards and forwards, thanks Pat
Lovely video, thanks
freedomofabird Hi and thanks, great area up there with fantastic views round every bend, like the hunting videos, thanks Pat
Hey Patrick, enjoying your videos having just came across them that's a lot of scrambling to then have to go back and retrieve your camera.
Yes a lot of hard work back and forth but wanted to show how big those waterfalls were, thanks Pat
I never knew that was where bogtrotting came from. 😳
Haha, probably so,very popular round Kinder Scout...... thanks Pat
Your as fit as a fiddle, that was epic
just got to keep going and push yourself to the limit thats my motto, all the best Pat
I have to ask Patrick, how old were you when you did this trip?
I've been binge watching your videos as I've only just found your channel but the one video you did " I swear this is a wild camping video" do you know that after a few pints you sound like Brendan Grace lol

UrbCrafterUnplugged hi I ,am 62 now so about 59/60 when did walk this, I was doing a long distance, 20 miles plus every couple of weeks so was very fit at the time, I might struggle a bit now, thanks Pat
Great effort, 10 out of 10
Thanks for that, glad I did this classic walk, thanks Pat
Fantastic video great to watch, I get the feeling you are ex forces of some kind,
Possibly SAS
Hi Glyn, I,am afraid not anything as daring, I was a Electrical Power Engineer for 40 years, working outside and had a great time. Always loved the challenge of the great outdoors, thanks Pat
Hello sir, id like to let ye know that yure next on my list after Wiltshire Man.:).
That,s very good, I love Sandy,s videos as well, thanks Pat
Well your some. Beat grilled 😊
A classic walk which was so challenging, but so satisfying........ thanks Pat
Parkour, love it.
Yes definitely a enjoyable time spend climbing up there, and jumping the groughs ....... all the best Pat
Thank you.
Would love to be out there, but with the possibility tightening of Covid restrictions not so sure, thanks Pat
Not too bad the walking if you are fit, 3 really steep accents, all the best Pat
fantastic video patrick, are you still doing this annually?
Do you have to climb down again to fetch the camera?
Yes, a lot of backwards and forwards, takes time but it gets the footage I want, thanks Pat
Good you didnt stop at the Railway hotei Pat,in Marston, good lad,I would not have been that disciplined, only would've been the one pint though with was was ahead of you
daveo Hi Dave I to think I ,be never been in that pub, must try it someday, great but tough walk all the best Pat
The riverhead down the road if the best pub in Marsden
