I’m entirely convinced GH was responsible for all or most of the “lone woman murders” and Elizabeth Short and also the little girl in Chicago. Not so convinced about Zodiac, but he makes a very good argument for that possibility. Laurel Canyon makes for a very good subject of study.

I got to go a couple of years ago with my husband. For me, it was amazing and a check on my bucketlist. The experience wasn't the same for my husband. 😂😂 I didn't have all of the addresses but I did go to joni Mitchell's house and sat outside of the country store. I FULLY plan on going back (without my husband next time😂😂) and redo the bucket list thanks to you! It's so great to see someone else that is interesting in the history behind the music and where it happened. Laurel canyon, even though was kind of busy, was so magical. You turn and you're suddenly in a vastly different place than the rest of LA. I can see why people flocked there. Keep up the amazing work!

Another great episode. That Black Dahlia background is an eye-opener. There are some truly weird people out there. I wonder what they find young things would have thought if the knew they had a 49 year old in their midst. I doubt many of the house owners today know the background that very famous and successful musicians once lived in their houses.
I think that some of them must know some of the history of their homes and the former owners. And I won't say which house, but out of ALL these houses I went to there was only one single owner that was openly rude and I got the feeling that because the house was so easy to find and so close to the main road that maybe they were tired of the constant Hollywood tour buses that would pull up to the front door every single day multiple times per day.

This is all so interesting. I was born in 71. I'm familiar with the music, that whole scene. I love the Doors especially. But the history of this magical era has always been a blur, so these vids are a treasure trove. I really recommend Krieger's book too, he calls out Rothchild on that jazz comment.

@@memoryfield i’ve been watching some of your other videos you have saved on your channel. Thanks for producing some great content. So far though nothing compares to the series you did on Laurel Canyon. Curious, where you found all of this information, you must’ve had to do hours of research.
The information came from probably over a hundred different sources. Books, documentaries, magazine articles, musician interviews, etc. Probably took around 5 months of time to gather everything and even then, we still went back and re-edited several of these videos later whenever we found out something new and significant enough to warrant a total re-edit. Even information we thought was correct, turned out later to be proven untrue or questionable. There are living family members of several of these musicians and others that had worked closely with them who have seen the series and contacted us with new information and/or helped us to correct some things that were not 100% completely true. Some were nice and friendly, and a few were snippy, curt and rude about it. But yeah, it's a ton of facts and information and there's just no way that everything can be proven true without someone, somewhere coming forward and disputing the things that may or may not have happened. It was the 60's, lol.
"BIG" thank you for the time and effort u put in to all of this fantastic series that (I know you did it out of love) you made for a time capsule. Now that we are starting to loose the creators of this music of the wonderful time in the special part of many lives. A special thank you kindly , Kevin

I hate to say " dying " I'll change it to diminishing breed of wonderful times & music. I'm only 59 but my brother was 5 years older. Then the guys I grew up with & took me under there wing where 10 older & unfortunately addicted to h. They never tried to ask me to do it but I knew. They took me to see John mayo and the bluesbreakers & stuff like that. They treated me with respect & never took advantage of me. A big God bless for those guys I know 🙏 they are all gone now. Correct, I am not from California. Born and raised in the Houston/Galveston, Texas, area and currently residing in Orem, Utah, where I own a music studio. My wife (Juliet) however was actually born in El Centro, California, but only lived there as an infant. We try to get over to the west coast at least twice a year because we love the Pacific Ocean and I have made a vow never to cross over onto the eastern side of the Mississippi for the rest of my life, lol. Juliet hasn't taken that vow and happens to be in New York City as we speak.

Buffalo Springfield wasn't the only L.A. band with multiple Canadian citizens in it. *Steppenwolf* began in late 1967 in L.A. as 3/5 Canadian, and later were 4/5 Canadian for awhile. In the 1960s, if a Canadian artist wanted to make it big, they pretty much had to live full time in the US to do that. It wasn't until the 1970s that Canadian artists could build international careers while remaining based in Canada. Even today, a lot of Canadian artists end up holding dual Canadian/US citizenship.
Although... Steve Hodels story of Dr. Hodel has to be regarded as fiction. What might be interesting is that Dr. Hodels daughter Tamar was friends with Michelle Phillips of the Mamas and the Papas.

I am aware of the connection between the daughter of Dr. Hodel (Tamar) and Michelle Phillips, and in fact I even filmed myself speaking about Michelle and Tamar within this segment and then cut the parts out of the final video later. It added yet another twist and turn to an already convoluted and confusing storyline as well as an additional 2.5 minutes to a video which I already felt compelled to cut into two parts due to its immense running time. Elizabeth Short is not far from where I'm sitting as I type these very words. She is interred way in the back of Mountainview Cemetery in Oakland, California. I visit her in the summer when I stay in Moraga to escape the heat of Diablo Valley. I think she was tortured to death. Her killer was never researched and if someone could find his wife and son's death records and his military record then you would find her killer.
She was a part time piano teacher/actress and he was minimum wage wherever...how could they afford a home in Laurel Canyon, or anywhere else for that matter. Lol

We try to get over to the west coast at least twice a year because we love the Pacific Ocean and I have made a vow never to cross over onto the eastern side of the Mississippi for the rest of my life, lol. Juliet hasn't taken that vow and happens to be in New York City as we speak.

Not sure if this was based on the true story of the Black Dahlia. I have never knew Kiyo was half Japanese and actress. Thankyou for sharing this story very mysterious though👍🏻

I did some reading up on Kiyo after watching Part 1, and you're not the only one who thinks she got Steve to be a cop to be her instrument of vengeance upon his father.

Higher res photos. Less on screen verbiage and longer screen times to read words. Fixed some typos and an incorrect date and incorrect address.
People were complaining that they couldn't read fast enough because the words went by too quickly.
Some episodes now contain new and unused footage that wasn't there before

You're correct. The book and the story that we're referring to has absolutely nothing to do with a "description of modern-day American society". The comment was made and meant for someone else who was asking me about the lyrics to the Eagles song, Hotel California. I'm sorry that the non-related comment (inexplicably) ended up in the wrong place and all I can attribute that to is that I was in the midst of answering about 45-50 various and random comments related to about 15 different videos all at the same time. I apologize for that. And no, I do not employ any form of AI to help me answer any comments. As for the story and the book by Steve Hodel, I agree that we can attribute the majority of the contents to be well-meaning fiction at best. I only found it to be interesting and somewhat relevant due to the fact that the real estate in question behind me was once rented by Neil Young and also owned by the former mistress of Dr. Hodel. I am aware of the connection between the daughter of Dr. Hodel (Tamar) and Michelle Phillips, and in fact I even filmed myself speaking about Michelle and Tamar within this segment and then cut the parts out of the final video later. It added yet another twist and turn to an already convoluted and confusing storyline as well as an additional 2.5 minutes to a video which I already felt compelled to cut into two parts due to its immense running time. I appreciate your comments and again, very sorry for the confusion with the wayward reply ending up in the wrong spot. I visit her in the summer when I stay in Moraga to escape the heat of Diablo Valley. I think she was tortured to death. Her killer was never researched and if someone could find his wife and son's death records and his military record then you would find her killer.
