Nice one mate, love this kind of fishing! I reckon some of the most fun you can have land based in the Perth area is fishing similar reefs around rottnest.

Security came up to me when I was fishing off the rocks at Woodman Point on the Dept of Transport side near the little beach at the boat ramp and asked me if I caught anything and how I got over there. Told me that I wasn't hurting anyone and to enjoy my day fishing. 12 months later the entire area is blocked off with concrete from the road side with a massive sign saying no fishing o trespassing, which I guess is fair enough... it just sucks to have more and more places shut down. It's a bit of a bummer. I love to scout new fishing spots with my wife, but she's a stickler for the rules and will not go near any place that even looks like it has a No Fishing sign. I've tried using those same kind of baitjunkies and zman slim swimz all over Perth Metro... I just can't catch a fish on them, I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I looks like I'm doing a similar action to you, but I must be fkin it up somehow - I'd love to get the hand of soft plastics and lures.

Yes you not wrong more an more rules every day makes it really hard 😅 I can’t even give advice on the soft plastics haha iv tried casting them sooo many times and hardly ever catch a fish on them, they seem to work well for me while fishing for snapper but just leaving the rod in the holder 😂🤷🏼♂️ fishing is hard work at the best of times haha 😎

Great clip mate. Good to see a Yanchep local having a crack at some fish. Yep I locked horns with one of the contract life savers who was flexing a bit about me fishing in the lagoon. Told me same thing “can’t fish in the lagoon, so leave now”. Luckily I had done my homework and put him back in his own lane pretty quickly by stating the flag rule. He got all agro with me and stormed off vowing to call the ranger on me. Which I’m certain he tried to do. Ha ha I asked what happened to the ranger when I walked back up past the tower. I only ever catch and release in the lagoon as it is a beautiful spot. Mostly only fish in there when Salmon are running in late spring early winter now days and no life savers there then anyway.

Have never really done the drone thing but would def be keen to try nail a snaps 🎣👍🏻✅🐟
It's a Chinaman cod or otherwise known as Charlie Court. Pretty good eating a true cod so beautiful white meat. We get quite a few Lancelin, very aggressive on the lures. Nice to just fish for fun, some people get to caught up in the fillet count 👍
