I love the Goldbergs as it brings up things that I hadn't thought of in years. I like the 80s background music that is usually near the end of the episode.

My question is...Is Kimberly and Lainey, the same person? Barry's actual wife, Kimberly. Didn't want anything to do with the show. Then it became what it is. I've had this theory that they created Lainey in Kimberly's likeness. Then she was ok with it. Then "Kim" appeared.
As a child of the 80's, I watch this show because I like the nostalgic references. What's funny to me is when I see mistakes in the show. Every episode say's it was "1980-something". The show generalizes without mentioning a specific year. So if the characters are living in the 80's, you would not expect to see things from the 90's. Sometimes I see toys from the 90's in the background. One was an Ultimate Warrior wrestling buddy with the World Championship around his waist, which he didn't win until 1990. That doll could not have been available until he won the belt. I also remember an episode where Adam said he was going to his friends house to play Super Mario 3. This game wasn't released until 1990. I also remember a scene where Adam was standing in line to see ET in the theater. He mentioned ALF during the scene. This is also wrong because ET was released in theaters in 1982, and ALF didn't begin until 1986.
I wish I found this show when it first aired. But at the same time I can binge 7 seasons of it straight now. It brings back so many memories of my own childhood. Such a great show👍🏽
I noticed that the show, (whilst entertaining and fun to watch) slowly moved away from the reality of Adam’s childhood. It moved from recreating memories and showing the camera footage at the end to a wild, kooky family recreating classic 80s movies. That’s why I love the beginning of the show more than I love the end of the show. You can almost pinpoint the moment in the series when Adam Goldberg ran out of footage and ideas and it’s honestly really sad! A lot of shows do this however, going from relatable and raw to outrageous and extreme. (Note the change from The Office US season one to season nine) When shows get a bigger audience and better production quality, the characters become extreme, the plots become ~more exciting~ and the atmosphere is changed, mostly for the worst.
I mean at some point they all had to grow up and become more serious about life and less carefree, which just how life is, so it's kind of life mimicki art, mimicking life ( if you will).. I give him props for not just giving up and ending the show but using his imagination to take the show in directions that are as believable as the carefree growing up days in the early(er) 80's - catch that?

Thanks for the upload! By the way, whenever real footage of his pops came up, I always had a feeling the man ended up having (something like) Alzheimer's in reality.
