Personally, I would highly recommend the Pulsar LT, I have been using mine for almost 3 years now and have zero complaints. I have a 2020 Silverado RST with the 6.2, and with a few minor mods and no engine work, the performance is noticeably better. I am currently running the Pulsar LT, K&N Cold Air intake, and the Borla S type bolt on aftermarket exhaust, which I installed all myself. The difference is night and day. I am amazed how 3 simple mods can make such a big difference. I did my research and watched several videos, the Pulsar alone is nice, but I promise, if you do all 3 mods that I described, you WILL NOT be disappointed, and for the guy who made the vide, you already have 2 of the 3 mods that I described, so buy the Pulsar LT and do another video, describing the results. LOL....
I have a 2020 GMC 6.2L that I installed the Pulsar LT on and absolutely love it so far. The only issue I have had is when I am in programming mode, my steps did turn on and off, but that only happened during initial programming so not a big deal. You won’t regret it.
I’ve been running the Pulsar LT for a while now. I have a 2021 Denali 3.0 Duramax. I haven’t had any issues with shifting or any of the tech in the truck. Lonestar Hawaiian did a video where he did fail an inspection. We don’t inspect in my state. So far, I couldn’t be more pleased with the Pulsar LT
As someone who has the borla s type split rear exhaust, the S&B cold air intake and the pulsar LT on my 2020 at4, most of those stories are absolute nonsense. And please believe me, you will absolutely want that throttle response boost. I have the 5.3 and man did it wake my truck up. Yes it doesn't give you more power, but its allowing you to maximize the power your truck already has. GM dumbed it down so much. That throttle lag is all but gone on level 3. Exhaust sounds amazing in all gears, at any RPM. No buzzing or gurgling and that hard downshift coming to a stop is gone. The pulsar fixed almost everything and i couldn't be more happy. I will keep you informed here as i put miles on the truck with this setup. But get it man, trust me. Just get it lol
Best part I've bought for my truck! Love it. Transmission shifts so much smoother, throttle response is awesome. Also I like I'm running on 8 cylinders at all times.
What I noticed when I fail to disable the auto-off feature is, when I'm stopped at the light and take my foot off the brake, the truck instantly moves forward when the engine starts. It can't be good for those lifters to be slapping around with no damn oil pressure. Nobody will convince me that the oil pressure is instantaneous. Also, if you think about it, only having one or two cylinders firing means the rest go cold. The head now only has heat from one cylinder firing. I've been a mechanic for a long time, and that uneven expansion and contraction causes tolerance disparities. It's an 8 cylinder engine. They're all meant to be firing or I'd have purchased a 4 cylinder. These systems are just more expensive parts to break. I hate engineers and the government placing ridiculous expectations on vehicle manufacturers.
I installed the Pulsar Lt last week on my 2021 Silverado 6.2. I did a muffler delete a couple months ago and it sounds awesome except with DFM it sounds like crap if you are not in V8. Now it is night and day difference. The driving experience is so much better. The power is constant and the sound is great. Since I did the muffler delete I can hear the DFM and I can totally match the lack of performance with the sound. It made it really clear to me. Now it is consistent sound with performance if that makes any sense. Once I was convinced it would not affect my warranty I installed it. I also think it will not hurt my engine with all the lifter issues I’ve been hearing about. if anything, it will help it or if it happens it will not play any role in it happening whatsoever if it’s going to happen it’s going to happen with or without a Pulsar.
Hi everyone, just to be clear. Unplug the Pulsar which takes a second whenever you take it to the dealership and then plug it back in when you leave. It will not leave a trace on your computer so it will never void a warranty. I did the muffler delete which will not void any engine issues. I love the Pulsar lt and I am enjoying my truck to the fullest. A decade from now we all might be driving electric vehicles and these type of mods might be a thing of the past, so I’m enjoying it while I can. Plus I ain’t getting any younger. 😀
I have a 2020 Sierra SLT with the 5.3 and I love the Pulsar LT. Removing the auto start/stop and throttle response are the best features, IMO, but I am really liking the disabled DFM as well. I notice that the transmission does not up-shift as much on inclines on the highway. It is a bit pricey, but a great option especially if you have an after-market exhaust and want the other features as well.
How you likng it so far? Any issues? Can you use it just for one feature? I have the 21 slt with 6.2 and want to get it to disable the DFM only but I'm hesitant to get it.
@@al-basrawi8724 I got the range DFM disabler for my 2021 Silverado but I’ve had no problems but I think if you have the 10 speed transmission you’re going to have to get the pulsar LT or the Diablo to turn that off
I added the Pulsar to my 2020 Trail Boss with the 6.2 engine. I love it. I have not had any issues and enjoy having all 8 cylinders all the time. No more having to hit the auto start disable. I also adjusted the throttle sensitivity. My truck is the LT and has a lot of options. It really makes driving the truck a lot more enjoyable. You can remove the Pulsar LT if you want and it leaves no footprint. The transmission does not act any different. Not hard shifts as you mentioned.
@@ghostlhmra6075 Howdy.. No, you cannot disable the traction control, but you can adjust speedometer for different size tires, as well as gas peddle sensitivity. It really is worth the money.

Hi everyone, I want to update that I installed myPulsar 2 months ago. I had my first oil change at the dealer last week at just over 3000 miles. They wanted me to wait until 5000 miles, but I said no. I unplugged the Pulsar and had the crappiest drive to and from the dealership since having installed the unit. I literally can feel and hear the difference while driving. I asked the manager about the failing lifter issues with the 5.3 and 6.2 engines. He said it is a real issue and also random. If I have a failure, they will repair under warranty no questions asked. BTW, I immediately plugged in my Pulsar when I got home because I am so used to the drive now, I can’t stand DFM. I can’t say if it will help saving your engine with a lifter failure, but it will definitely not create a lifter issue. A lifter issue will happen randomly regardless. So I’m personally going to enjoy full time V8. If I have lifter failure, time to unplug it and get my new truck fixed. I am considering the cold air intake system. The dealership can install it at a good price and it does not void warranty. Probably install it after the holidays. Happy holidays everyone.
Yeah they'll only repair/replace the lifters on the bank that had a failure. They don't do both banks at the same time, but the other side will have a failure some time soon. I know, my 2015 6.2 failed in cylinder 7 about a year out of warranty. Paid the Stealership to replace all lifters on one side. I asked them to replace the other bank while they had it apart, they said no not needed. Was told my truck idled for 45 minutes after they put it back together, Tech went to drive my truck, BLAMMO lifter on the other side failed before he even got out of their lot. Waited longer for them to tear it apart again. This is the same policy/procedure for trucks under warranty.
The lifter to push rod to rocker set up has pretty much been the same since the original 5.3 liters were made. We’ve worked on our own stuff for years, have friends that are 15 + year mechanics, we have 4 gm products from 2004 to 2006 that all have 250k miles or more on the original engines with no lifter issues and the part of the lifter that normally fails in the roller. The rollers are exactly the same in the new engines as the old ones that didn’t have afm dfm ect. Sometimes the collapsible part of the lifter collapses and doesn’t open back up which is caused from being open and closed so much that it gets worn out. Said all that to say the main major difference from the old stuff to this modern gm stuff is the oil weight that gm is saying to use. The old engines use 10w30 while the new stuff is 0w20. My Tahoe with 250k at idle has 30-35 psi oil pressure while my 2019 had about 16 psi or less (not enough). The thin oil is so that the lifter will collapse quickly and that is it. Turn the afm- dfm off so the lifters stay fully opened all the time, run 10w30 diesel oil ( has twice the zinc and Molly in it than your gasoline oils) which keeps wear down and keeps the oil from wearing down as fast. You’ll never have an issue if done early enough in miles. Drive and enjoy. My 2019 not has 25 + psi at idle at 210 temp and has 60psi at 55mph now. Add a half of a quart of Lucas oil additive ever oil too. That stuff is the best engine lubricant that has ever been made.
I drive a Dodge Magnum with the 5.7 Hemi and have noticed a similar oil pressure issue. That engine calls for 5w20 and my oil pressure at idle is around 16 psi. I don’t worry too much about it at this point because I’m at 166,000 miles and haven’t had any issues yet, but I’ve considered switching to a thicker oil to get that pressure up.
Thoroughly enjoyed your explanation on this issue that GM has been having with their trucks. This 63 year old girl has an understanding of how transmissions and engines work. By the age of 18, I helped with rebuilding my 1967 V8 Mustang and, at the age of 26, rebuilding my 1969 straight 6, Ford truck. Those were the days literally. I could stand inside the engine compartment and do the rebuild. Anyway, I would concur with your assessment of the issue and glad that GM has been able to work through those issues. Our 2023 6.2 SLT has arrived. But unfortunately we have to wait a few more days. But we, too, would like to disable that DFM. I'm not sure if we will opt for the pulsar. Truly enjoy reading the comments below, and we'll be joining the GM forum as your subscribers have mentioned. I know this video was posted sometime ago, but I wanted to watch all the videos related to DFM. Thanks for your content. ✌️ out.
Just added the pulsar lt installed on my 22 Silverado 5.3 2 days prior installed a afe cold air intake notice immediately the difference with cai great response but after installing the pulsar lt I set my throttle on 5 which is the highest once I accelerated my tires literally spun once I accelerated absolutely love the difference I seemed to get the best of my v8 feels like floating on air I definitely recommend
2021 gmc sierra at4 6.2l...has the pulsar LT; shut off the auto stop & the dynamic fuel system, 34" tires adjusted, and throttle response turned to +15%...also have the muffler valve delete with an extra sized flow-through muffler and the resonators removed...no issues, great power, sound and performance...this is the only way to go...personal opinion!
I have a 2019 AT4 (since new) and currently I am at 97K/km. I have the performance air with full cat-back BORLA S-Type carbon fibre quad tips. I have had the PULSAR LT for about 8 months now, have the system set a 3 and I have not had a single issue. In the summer I run 20x10 Ridge Grapples and in the Winter I run 20x10 BLIZZAK and she runs like a dream. I live just outside Edmonton and we will see how the winter is.
I have a fully loaded 2020 High Country 1/2 ton. I I installed the Pulsar. Disabled cylinder deactivation, auto start stop, and increased throttle sensitivity one up. No issues other than gas mileage dropping about 2 mpg.
I have a 2020 6.2 Denali ultimate , the pulsar LT has not messed in any way with anything. I have headrest TVs, subwoofer, and 22x10 fuel contras. Makes my truck better all day long.
@@erickcardenas1416 DOD off and pedal commander at 30. Since the engine needs more with the bigger wheels, the dod is stupid, I rather get worse gas mileage to have a V8 always V8
i have it on my 2021 Chevrolet Silverado trail boss it 6.2L and knock on wood 0 issues. i love it. each pulsar out there is coded differently so you have to make sure you get the one specifically for your vehicle the yrs make and model engine size.
With the 3.0L I went with the Banks Power iDash. Love it, main use is to just track regen. Cool to see the turbo boost and other numbers you wouldn't regularly see.
The biggest cause of lifter problems is oil change frequency and quality of oil being used. Using a high quality oil base 3/4 level synthetic with a good filter ie wix brand and faithfully changing it every 5-7 thousand kilometers will prevent the issues. The system requires oil pressure to operate and if the oil passageways get a restriction the problem will happen.
Mine lifter dropped at 12k miles and I had 3 oil changes by then. Most issues have happened on models with dates from Sept 20 to March 21. Mine is a 21 limited built on Christmas eve 20. So far I'm at 19k miles and no extra issues besides purple drls. Dealer fixed both
Not True. 2017 6.2 LTZ was always maintained by the dealer for oil changes seeing they were free. I was always on time or early with oil changes. @ 125,000 mi. lifter collapsed. I was able to free it up and added a Range and haven't had an issue with the lifters since. Range is a step below the Pulsar LT.
I have the Pulsar LT on my 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali with the 6.2l and I have had no issues. My truck actually broke a lifter before I got it because the electronics in the valve cover that activate and deactivate the cylinders stopped working. After getting that fixed I put the pulsar LT on and have had no issues. That was 5 months ago at this point. Also the PULSAR LT does not modify anything and is not permanent, as soon as you unplug it from the ecu everything is stock again. Also again when you get it inspected you have to remove it, it will make you fail inspection.
I put the Pulsar Lt on my 2020 Gmc slt worked ok on test drive around 50 miles , Then parked the truck until I was using it for a job . Unfortunately 3 weeks later then using the truck after 150 miles or so it made my ECS codes pop up and went into limp mode ... steering warnings / brakes / and a multitude of others. Even the A/C went off . So after stopping and unplugging the Lt it cleared up. Drove the rest of the trip with no issues. Got home after driving 160 miles with no issues . So home in a safe zone...[close to home] plugged it back in 20 min / 20 miles or so it when into ECS warning again . So I called the (Edge) Pulsar Lt company... they said call the vendor where purchased ! So I call Realtruck where I purchased it and they said they would submit a claim or complaint 4 days later , I get a email. Sorry past 30 days ! Yes it was 38 days after all this dog and pony show.. My specs is a 2020 Serria Slt 6.2 with max tow package. 3.42 rear gear ratio. 33 000 miles. $540 .00 wasted ! Not happy!
Here to confirm I had the exact same experience. Pulse worked fine for a few hundred miles, then the truck randomly started throwing every code under the sun while driving. I parked, shut off the engine, then was not able to crank the engine at all. Unplugged the Pulsar and truck cranked back up. Everything back to normal. There are most definitely glitches caused by the Pulsar. Can’t find any definitive info about a potential software/firmware update.
I just ordered the Pulsar LT for my 2021 GMC Sierra AT4 (6.2L). I had a Diablo on my last truck (2014 Chevy Silverado LTZ, 5.3L). Loved the Diablo because it actually had a sport (canned) performance tune for 93-octane (and lots more tweaks compared to the Pulsar LT). The 6.2L uses 93-octane for "maximum acceleration and performance and fuel mileage" according to the owner's manual. I have a local fuel distributor that sells 94-octane...these trucks run even better on 94-octane (at least mine does).
@@Donslife -- Same here in Oklahoma. 91 is everywhere...hard as hell to find 93. I ran 91 in my truck...it ran very good and is fine. However, you can DEF feel and hear the difference with 93/94.
@@Donslife -- Oh def...a lot of people with German cars (BMW, Audi, Mercedes) take their cars to that place here locally that sells 94-octane. $25 more at fill up. But, I didn't buy a 6.2L truck to feather foot it and drive like a grandma getting groceries.
Hey Don - I just installed the Pulsar LT on my truck and guess what? My Amp Research power steps STOPPED working. I was able to pull the fuse for the Amp Research module and it fixed it. The motorized power steps are now working with the Pulsar LT. For some reason (after I installed the Pulsar LT...they didn't want to play well together). Also, the Auto Start/Stop LED light will remain "on" but the feature is disabled. I talked with Pulsar LT on the phone this morning to confirm everything is correct. Everything else is working with the Pulsar LT (programming, functionality, etc). Hope this helps.
I have the Pulsar LT for few months now. Only issue I have seen is blind spot indicator light on giving false report for first few days after starting truck. After a couple minutes lights would turn off and act as designed. After few days it stopped giving false reports and only worked as designed. Other than that it has worked well for me.
I was just talking recently to a friend that has a new 2024 1 ton gmc truck with the 6.2 and he does not have the Palsar and he has had a lot of those problems you mentioned radio, lights , the big one was the brakes coming on cause it senses something in front of the vehicle when there was nothing there and he is replacing all 4 brakes at 26k
I’ve learned that this generation of truck have lots of little (mostly minor) electrical annoyances. I maintain my battery and that seems to keep things pretty stable
Has anyone tried the Range? I considered getting the pulsar but my dealer said it would void my warranty and I’m not too good with mechanical and fixing vehicles so don’t want to void any warranty being my truck is fairly new and I got the extended warranty as well. Want to get rid of DFM and auto stop start but can live with the auto stop start button and just have to remember to disable it each time I start the truck.
I like that you did research, then used logic and reasoning. I feel like I could have made this video. But only if I was photogenic and had a popular RUclips channel. All kidding aside, I’m in the same boat, so I’m subscribing and will wait to see what moves you make moving forward. Thank you for the great content.
You will like the pulsar LT, it stopped the "bird under the hood chirp sound" everyone talks about with the DFM. I shut the DFM off with the pulsar LT and made a big difference on my 2021 gmc 1500 AT4 and took that blahh sound away with my gmc borla performance exhaust. The throttle response settings are fun to play with to. Ive found no more than a #2 throttle setting is fine for every day driving. You will like the mod and be glad you got it. I didnt mess with the gear ratio on mine because its just a daily driver. There wont be a true tuner available for these trucks for a long time if ever. GMC won't unlock anything for a tuner. So far no glitches or electrical issues after 1 month of the pulsar LT installed. Lmk if you have any questions on it.
Just a little FYI hptuners offers a replacement ecm and time that are unlocked and tunable. You also have to buy 10 credits to unlock their tuning package for your specific year make and model. All said and done it's 3k before you even write a tune to the ecm. Expensive but I've heard it makes a ton of power gains and allows full tuning access along with live data. Just thought I'd share the info.
@@Donslife your welcome. Not sure if your on the "GM FORUM" website, but there were a few for sale used on there for $300. I just traded in a 19 5.3 Silverado for a 21 at4 6.2. I had a range dfm disabled on the 19 and a carven catback. There was burble on deceleration regardless of the disabled. Honestly think it was worse with dfm disabler. The chopper noise when cruising was fixed with the disabler and was my main reason for running it. Just fyi. Still on the fence about the new disabler as the only thing I’d use it for is the dfm to get rid of the delay. Truck is missing auto stop which is nice.

Had my Pulsar LT fail on my 2020 GMC Sierra AT4 6.2 today. I was driving on 35 leaving San Marcos and my trucks check engine light turned on and popup came up saying Stability Control Not Available. Truck then went into safe mode with Engine reduced Power popup. Couldn't go over 40 mph. Pulled over and turned the truck off for 1 min then tried turning the truck on again with no luck, truck was dead with just the accessory lights working. I figured that issues could be the Pulsar because its the only mod i have on the truck other than a leveling kit. I unplugged the pulsar and boom the truck turned on and no check engine light. Pulsar had been on for a year and 4 months, roughly about 20K miles worth.
If you run your truck in sport mode and on L9 it completely disables the DFM. You can hear the difference in the exhaust. So far it's been great with little to no effect on gas milage, I'm just wondering if there's any downsides to doing that.
Get one you won't regret it, I sold my range for 150 and bought the pulsar for 300 so it was a no Brainer for me. I would gladly pay full price if I had to.
I got the DiabloSport on my 2019 new body style I sent my computer in for unlocking and it was the best thing I ever did. I think the best thing to do is to unlock the computer and have a proper program starting from scratch. Instead of having something that piggybacks on the computer which I did not want
I could have just everything I can even adjust the shift points on my transmission when I wanted to shift and I have the same thing the throttle response I shut off the stop-and-start and all eight cylinders working all the time. And I'll have to say it's a tire shredder and one of the only tuners out there that cleans up the transmission shifts and you can put custom Tunes and the horsepower gains were definitely noticeable like I said she's a tire shredder now
I have, but it states that it isn’t compatible with the 10 speed transmission. I had a buddy try one anyway on his and at first it seemed to work, but now he says that DFM sometimes engages. I am still driving in L9 around town.
The pulsar lt works for the 10-speed? Been hearing that there isn’t software for the 10-speed yet. Could be wrong. I have a 2022 5.3l 10-speed and would love to install it if it’s compatible. Thanks!
Ya I have been trying that out lately. I would like to find an official resource that confirms that DFM is disengaged while in L9. Looking for confirmation :)
@@jimmywilson4809 I was told by my local dealer that unlike previous years, the L9 does not completely eliminate the DFM. I'm having the lugging / shuddering issue and hoping maybe the pulsar LT might eliminate it.
I have to disagree with the pulsar causing electronic glitches. I’m not sayings it’s impossible but hear me out! We have 3 3500 GMCs on our farm, We also had 2 gmc 2500 Denalis that we just traded for new trucks. All are stock with absolutely no modifications (other than suspension lifts and tires on the 2500s) every single one of them have electrical issues! Whether it be turn signals going off randomly or the radio starting after you shut the truck off and shut the door with the key in your pocket, every one of them has some electric malfunction. My cousin who also works on the farm has a 2018 GMC SLE and his radio will randomly go through menus without him even touching the screen. I just bought a 2021 AT4 and I pick it up Friday, I already have the Pulsar at my house ready to install because I had so many issues with the Active Fuel Management system on a older Chevy I had that I’m not taking the chances on this one. I have a 2021 Chevy LTZ with 6.2L and when mine is in Drive mode upon coming to a stop and down shifting it makes this chirping noise. If I put it in L9 it runs great, no chirping. Sounds like a DFM issue, but wonder if you've heard of anything like that.
Good question. No the products I chose don’t require a tune. The GM performance intake requires one though. Most of the aftermarket intakes will have you disable the air filter life monitor in your settings. The GM tune for their intake would adjust for the new filter too. Also disconnecting the battery for a couple hours before starting the truck with the new intake will ensure the PCM learns the ideal air/fuel mixture with the new intake and you can avoid a CEL.

Most failures are do too the lifter tray breaking and the lifter spinning in the bore. Then the roller on the lifter is facing the wrong way and wipes out the cam instantly. Ls7 lifters don't have this problem. It's definitely do to dfm/afm lifters.
I can’t make that claim but many users will uninstall before going to a dealership for service. Its prior install is supposed to be undetectable once removed.

I just install it yesterday the check engine light came on I connect that scanner and it sent me two codes one for transmission issues and the other one was from break issues and for some reason the truck sent an alert to the dealership and the dealership sent me an email saying that I need to take the truck in for inspection. So this is no good for your truck.

I have a 2021 Denali, this Pulsar module is the only module/tuner I’ve been able to find. A bunch of websites list the Diablosport Predator 2 as being compatible but it is not. Pretty bummed that there aren’t more options, hopefully soon we’ll have some 🤞
@@Donslife Kind of annoying and surprising that there aren’t any yet besides this Pulsar unit. BUT I’m glad we have this, I’m stoked to raise the top speed to 140mph hahaha
@donslife you’ll have problems with your warranty if you rock up to your dealership with that pipe and intake on, if they are not Chevy part numbers you’re in trouble. I have done a lot of talking to service managers at GM dealerships, they all say the same thing…. Warranty issues
Shift to ‘L’ instead of ‘D’. Use the ‘+’ button on the shifter until the readout says ‘L9’. 9th gear will be the highest gear available but DFM will be off. For driving around town, that’s all you usually would need
Also I have a range dfm/afm disabled I used with my 18 Silverado and now own a 2021 GMC Sierra at4. Will this range work in the new truck and or affect the truck badly?
@@DylansHomeEspressoBar It doesn’t do anything bad. It just limits your top gear while keeping DFM disabled. You should contact Rangetechnologies for advice on your older module. I think only the PulsarLT works with the 2019+ due to the new transmissions
I have had one on my 2020 RST 6.2 for over 11k miles with just the DFM disabled and throttle sensitivity set at 3 everything else left as stock. No issues whatsoever. AFM is different than DFM as you know and AFM had its own issues as you also well know I am sure. If you use DFM disable with the Pulsar then auto start stop is off by default.
I do. For me, I would need to be in a position to use a few of its features before installing. DfM disable, Tire size calibration and custom throttle response. My hope is by now, they would have upgraded the firmware to address some of the bugs people have reported with folding steps and mirrors for example
@Donslife Agreed. Thanks. I am scheduled this week to pick up my 2022 AT4X that I ordered a little over a year ago. Looking to run a few of the mods you have done. The DFM drives me nuts. My wife has a 2021 Yukon Denali 6.2 and when down shifting it makes a faint sputtering whistle which kills me. But driving in L9 no noise at all. That's my main reason for looking at the pulsar along with others features it offers.
@@lonniehall9796 113,000 miles and the truck needed $7K in repairs. The lifters started making bad noises, the vacuum pump was shot, the AC condenser was cracked, sometimes the radio didn't work, and there were a few other issues which needed addressing. Anyway, GM vehicles are shit these days. I traded it in for a Camry. In a year I'll trade the Camry for a highlander. I'm retiring so I no longer need a pickup truck. An SUV will be perfect.
I am in the same boat with my 20 rst I was going to get the pulsar but here and everything I have been listening to on RUclips I decided just to stay with the range technology that I had on my 14 Silverado after installing the air intake and the exhaust you definitely hear that drone just like you on the other Silverado keeps it in eight and it eliminated the Auto Stop right now until I do more mods I'll keep it like this thanks for your input
!!!!!!!!!!!!!READ THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pulsar LT comes with a preset gear ratio. Mine was preset 3.23 but my vehicle is a 3.42. So, make sure you know your vehicle gear ratio and program it accordingly.
Lifters should never have a rub factor on pushrods as they sit in a bowl in the lifter, the flat side sits on the camshaft. the lifter has an open end with a beveled out or hollow if you will that the pushrod sits in. not sure how a pushrod will contact the side or edge of a push rod unless its a manufacturing defect. I have noticed the burping and crap going on on my 2021 Yukon Denali. It sounds as if it is not running as you decelerate until you reach around 10mph, and then boom you hear your exhaust kick in..its very odd. I do have a surging at low speed when pulling out..or hesitation and persistent hesitation until it warms up. Have had it checked and nothing was found. Spent a long time on the phone with several aftermarket manufactures. I also spent time with the GM engineer, and aftermarket engineer, and changing the setting on the ECM, will and can cause multiple problems with Compatability on firmware. Their truthful suggestion,,,,,,Wait until the tech catches the new ECM and fuel management systems.
I would have thought the same thing, but I guess inspection of some of these failed rods show wear on one side. The bend ends up being on the opposite side of the wear mark farther up the rod. I understand exactly what you are describing and always thought that too. I really appreciate the info and advice
So if i installed it on my truck and i get one of those problems does the problems goes away when i just unplug the Pulsar LT ? if yes i'm surely gonna install it i need an answer for this question please :)
Hey man love your vids! What's your opinion bon aftermarket exhaust and warranty? I have a 2020 Yukon XL Denali and I really want exhaust but I'm worried not void my warranty. Especially engine wise. Do you have any info on that?
We have laws to protect consumers in Canada and the US. If you have a problem, the service department would have to prove your exhaust caused the failure of whatever it is you want fixed. If you are adding a cat-back system, I personally would have no worries
Hello Don, new to your channel. I want to ask you how much performance did you FEEL with the Air intake and the cat back. I bought a new GMC 6.2L SLT and is not equipt with DFM/autostart stop which makes me happy. I am very interested on power since I will be towing a trailer (dovetail) and race car. thanks.
The dfm and auto start are 2 separate things the only reason people don't like the auto start is that they can't hear there exhaust at a red light. I disabled my dfm but left the auto start and if I don't want to use it I just push the factory button on my dash
Because those are the lifters that switch full of oil or empty of oil when the AFM activates. AFM does the same 4 cyclinders at a time. DFM can shut off any 6 cyclinders at a time.
Hi Don, Just wondering if you ever made a decision one way or the other on the Pulsar LT. Love your channel and we have the same truck. I am thinking about changing tire size and as a result started looking at the Pulsar LT so I could make simple adjustments at home as needed. My concern, which is a big one, is I also have the technology package and if there is going to be an issue my guess is that is where a problem could exist. I wish there were other options to compare but most don't work with the 6.2 10 speed, so unless I'm wrong its Pulsar LT or leave it as is... Look forward to your thoughts.
No. It's the DFM causing the valve issues. I've had two new Silverados 6.2L and 5.3L both need top end rebuilds before 30,000 miles because of this. The Pulsar corrected it.
Good video as always. Don’t have a GM truck or the DFM/AFM issues but I enjoy your channel as I like the projects and content you do. And some of the upgrades work on other brands. Are the mud flaps shown at 4:37 factory mud flaps or aftermarket? I found your channel 2-3 months ago and subscribed. Keep up the content! Ron
When I installed auto stop elimination wire harness kit , it shut down my collision sensors ,even the lighted switches went off, they did refund my $$ when I removed it and returned the kit. This was on my Gmc Slt 2020 6.2 engine.

Thanks Jimmy! Someone else recently told me the same thing about his steps
But does it cancel your warranty?
@@daggumduncan1018 U need to take it off if going in for any work. They will never know.
This is absolutely correct!
Thank you Leroy for the input. I can see myself getting one
Doesn't changing out the muffler or removing it void the warranty?
@@WJr_88 no
Yes it does void the warranty. I have confirmed this with multiple dealers, any performance part you add to your truck, voids the warranty.
Thanks for the share Brandon!
@@vinny06299 thanks Gunner!

Thanks for the update man!
They say on the website that it does not affect warranty on vehicles. So it should be ok to keep it on there
Yeah they'll only repair/replace the lifters on the bank that had a failure.
I have it on my 21 5.3 and my lifters to a crap. So i disconnect and drove to the dealership and they fixed it no questions asked
@@41585elviejoI’m glad they fixed it with no hassle. How many miles did you have when the lifters failed?
Running that thicker oil didnyou switch filters aswell?
@@Forseeable no I’ve always used wix filters anyway and I’ve never seen a weight specific filter so I don’t think the filter will matter.
Then I should be good! Thank you
Mine lifter dropped at 12k miles and I had 3 oil changes by then.
Thanks for watching and for your informative reply

Thanks for sharing this. I am surprised the vendor (not the dealer) didn't offer more support or guidance.
I wish I could get 93 here. 91 is it!
@@Donslife -- Same here in Oklahoma. 91 is everywhere...hard as hell to find 93. I ran 91 in my truck...it ran very good and is fine. However, you can DEF feel and hear the difference with 93/94.

Hey Kevin, I really appreciate the info you’ve shared!
It was a few guys that had the power steps and had the deployment issue....that seems to be the common glitch with these. Ill try to find the link for you. But then again you wont get the pulsar warranty if bought used I believe.
@@tampabayflatsfanatic5118 thank you. I didn't know they were able to unlock something......expensive for sure, but at least they have a full tuner option. I called Diablo and they didn't have anything yet and said they had no idea if they would. Thanks for the info. If I was gonna race the truck or something id consider a full tune.....but for $480 the pulsar LT does plenty for me. Hopefully over time the cost of these full tunes comes down. Or you can drop 100k and get the hennesey Goliath 700 hp performance kit...haha. Check out a few of those videos....turns it into a race truck.
I part of that forum too. Thanks for looking out!
Good testimonial - Thanks!
@@Donslife thanks for the content! Watched a ton of your videos since I got my at4. Mines white as well so I’ve been looking at a few of the same mods. Also glad to hear your thoughts on the pulsar and good to know I’m not alone in that thinking haha.
That’s awesome Zach! Thanks for watching man!
@@AbrahamShekelstein I had the disabler installed for about ~8k of the 12k miles that I put on the truck and there was never a noticeable difference. It was a 2wd truck and I got ~21mpg on road trips with or without it. Normally got about 14-15mpg city with no noticeable change with or without. My primary use was to get rid of the chopper noise with the exhaust installed.

@@ryanstevens90210 I've never tried it, I will look into it tomorrow, but I don't think so, it does throttle sensitivity, not throttle idle adjustment.
So basically throttle is 1 through 5, one being gas saver and five when you hit the gas it really goes! All power is right when you hit the gas, it feels like it adds horse power, but it doesn't, I love it!
I have Pulsar LT in my Trail Boss with 6.2. I have experienced hard transmission shifts, and blind spot monitoring light flashing as well. For now, I have turned DFM back to active to see if transmission is operating smoother.
Let us know what you experience
do you have a follow up to this?
@Alex Transmission definitely shifts smoother with DFM Enabled, and blind spot monitoring seems to be working fine. Right now, I just use Pulsar to correct the speedometer to larger tires.
@@TarasMagun thank you, I will try it this week when I get my unit. I don’t have blind spot warning so hopefully it will be great. Why can’t they just leave a v8 a v8 I didn’t buy a 4cylinder for a reason
I had one in my chevy silverado RST 2020 had an issue with catalytic converter
If you run your truck in sport mode and on L9 it completely disables the DFM. You can hear the difference in the exhaust. So far it's been great with little to no effect on gas milage, I'm just wondering if there's any downsides to doing that.
Interesting 🤔
I don’t think the 2021 has a sport mode? Right?
There’s a sport mode??

I got the DiabloSport on my 2019 new body style I sent my computer in for unlocking and it was the best thing I ever did. I think the best thing to do is to unlock the computer and have a proper program starting from scratch. Instead of having something that piggybacks on the computer which I did not want
Excellent! Which features were you able to have programmed?
I could have just everything I can even adjust the shift points on my transmission when I wanted to shift and I have the same thing the throttle response I shut off the stop-and-start and all eight cylinders working all the time. And I'll have to say it's a tire shredder and one of the only tuners out there that cleans up the transmission shifts and you can put custom Tunes and the horsepower gains were definitely noticeable like I said she's a tire shredder now
Hey Don. Have you looked at the Range Technologies chip that plugs into the OBD port? What are your thoughts on it?
I have, but it states that it isn’t compatible with the 10 speed transmission. I had a buddy try one anyway on his and at first it seemed to work, but now he says that DFM sometimes engages. I am still driving in L9 around town.
The pulsar lt works for the 10-speed? Been hearing that there isn’t software for the 10-speed yet. Could be wrong. I have a 2022 5.3l 10-speed and would love to install it if it’s compatible. Thanks!
Why don'tcha go to their website and find out?
Will the truck fail When taking it in for state and emissions inspections?
I am told that you should remove it before any type of service as it can affect diagnostic equipment readings
They have this unit for 2023 1500 Denali ? 5.3?
I have heard that you can disable dfm by driving in sport mode or keeping it in manual 9th gear
Ya I have been trying that out lately. I would like to find an official resource that confirms that DFM is disengaged while in L9. Looking for confirmation :)
DFM goes away in 9 low! Does on my 2020 Trail Boss.
Hi Kevin, the sport mode only does two things. It tightens the steering and delays the next upshift to give it that sporty feel...
@@jimmywilson4809 I was told by my local dealer that unlike previous years, the L9 does not completely eliminate the DFM. I'm having the lugging / shuddering issue and hoping maybe the pulsar LT might eliminate it.

What have you came to finally decide on the pulsar lt with this video being 2 years old, are you still thinking about getting one or no ?
I am still happy without it for now.
General Motors needs to drop the cylinder deactivation nonsense, it’s not saving customers hardly any gas and has had so many problems that it is not worth it. Just my experiences and thoughts though!
You could be right, I am right there with you. So many people have been pushing me towards one and I may just get one!
@@Donslife it’s funny that I’m here writing this comment but not even having my brand new AT4 for 2 weeks, I have already put it in the shop.
I have a experienced a huge reduction in random noises while downshifting like you say. Not sure if I heard a distinction chirp though
Did you get your truck tuned by the dealer when you got the exhaust and cold air intake?
Good question. No the products I chose don’t require a tune. The GM performance intake requires one though. Most of the aftermarket intakes will have you disable the air filter life monitor in your settings. The GM tune for their intake would adjust for the new filter too. Also disconnecting the battery for a couple hours before starting the truck with the new intake will ensure the PCM learns the ideal air/fuel mixture with the new intake and you can avoid a CEL.
Thanks for the insight! Going to run the exact same setup for air intake/exhaust!

hey Don would you know by any chance how the Onstar is disabled/ I called Onstar and they told me it is disabled with error code: UE0, reason I'm asking is / the app my chevy allows to remote start your truck from smartphone and so many other features. Thanks in Advance.
Most failures are do too the lifter tray breaking and the lifter spinning in the bore. Then the roller on the lifter is facing the wrong way and wipes out the cam instantly. Ls7 lifters don't have this problem. It's definitely do to dfm/afm lifters.
I have the 2020 chevrolet silverado Lt 1500 2020 5.3 does that avoid the warranty?
I can’t make that claim but many users will uninstall before going to a dealership for service. Its prior install is supposed to be undetectable once removed.
have you tried the pedal commander?
Something may be happening. Are you referring to their throttle position controllers?
I put it on my truck and it failed state inspection. Just wondering if you have to remove it before state inspection
I would remove it now that you know

I’ve had my pulsar lt on my 2020 black widow for 6 months and these are negative things I’ve noticed but not sure if it’s related to the pulsar. Intermediate hard shifting, blind spot light comes on when no one is around, every service light came on and stayed on till I shut off for 30 minutes only happened once, black widow puddle lights stopped working, average mpg is 10 with the 6.2 and all the settings I have adjusted. If I find out it’s related I will let you know. Good luck. Mary Christmas 🎅
Thanks Kyle! I really appreciate it. Merry Christmas 🎅
Where did you buy your truck? And did you end up putting in the pulsar?
No PulsarLT at the moment and I purchased my truck in Saskatchewan in Jan 2021
I just install it yesterday the check engine light came on I connect that scanner and it sent me two codes one for transmission issues and the other one was from break issues and for some reason the truck sent an alert to the dealership and the dealership sent me an email saying that I need to take the truck in for inspection. So this is no good for your truck.
Thanks for the information.

Why did you go with the Borla S-type and not the Atak?
I just didn’t want it too loud for the neighbors and for when my wife takes the truck. 🤷🏻♂️
I have a 2021 Denali, this Pulsar module is the only module/tuner I’ve been able to find. A bunch of websites list the Diablosport Predator 2 as being compatible but it is not. Pretty bummed that there aren’t more options, hopefully soon we’ll have some 🤞

@donslife you’ll have problems with your warranty if you rock up to your dealership with that pipe and intake on, if they are not Chevy part numbers you’re in trouble. I have done a lot of talking to service managers at GM dealerships, they all say the same thing…. Warranty issues
How do you put your truck in L9 to disable dfm?
Shift to ‘L’ instead of ‘D’. Use the ‘+’ button on the shifter until the readout says ‘L9’. 9th gear will be the highest gear available but DFM will be off. For driving around town, that’s all you usually would need
Will keeping it in this mode at all times hurt the truck

Hey Don, great videos across the channel. I was wondering if you had put any further thought in the pulsar as it has been a year from this video.

The Pulsar LT literature literally covers this.

Quite possibly!
My 2021 already had it's lifters replaced. It was throwing a cylinder 5 failure code. It was a mess. I'm gonna install a pulsar.
Bummer, very inconvenient
go with e banks peddle adjustor, its much better. tested and tried

Would this void your warranty in Canada?
Shouldn’t based on the Consumer Protection Act unless it is proven to have directly contributed to the failure of the part or system under warranty
If the failure is truly a pushrod issue, why does it only occur on AFM cylinders in those engines? Never seen a failure on a non AFM cylinder.
Because those are the lifters that switch full of oil or empty of oil when the AFM activates. AFM does the same 4 cyclinders at a time. DFM can shut off any 6 cyclinders at a time.
@@slalomking but the actual problem is the lifter sticking. The bent pushrod is a result of the lifter failure.
