Great video and great tips! I love the tip on aligning the opposite side of material by using the first cut as a shadow / guide in software!
Another simple way to square material to the gantry is to clamp a couple pieces of flat / straight material to the gantry which hang down far enough to meet the edge of the material being cut. It's super quick, fairly accurate and, in the production world REPEATABLE for multiple parts! You so need to account for the material and torch offset when laying it out in your software, but that's pretty simple to measure.
Just remember to remove them before running the table :D
A tip on cutting tube on a water table (may work for a downdraft but I haven't tried it) is to remove a slat and rest your tube in the water, blocking it up to the necessary height if need be. This is hit and miss as a lot needs to align for it to work, the tube needs to fit between the slat supports, fit within the dimensions of the water table, etc. but it can help keep the smoke down. Not great, but an option if needed.

Thanks, good idea on the gantry. I have made a few items that help me square up the sheets without issue. I believe we covered them on another video.

@@TabooCustoms Cool, i'll check it out. I always love to see what others are doing to solve common (and sometimes not so common) problems!

Nice video. CNC Plasma is the way to go for cutting holes. I hardly use the drill press any more these days.

Just a suggestion but I would bolt a fixture plate to the table. Have the plasma cut it at a straight line on a known x and y axis so you have a standard zero point to fixture your tube to. Make an end cap with a vacuum hole on the tube to force the smoke to exit thru one side of the tube.

Thanks for the ideas. We have some spacer plates we now use to square up full sheets and other items on at least one side. I need to make a second set to use on the other axis just haven't gotten around to it.

I did find a USB key that has the Wright CNC Load Up Files on it. If you want to pay for a USB key I could buy one and put the files on it and mail it to you. Email me at dave@taboocustoms.com
