Lucky enough, the necessary information was on a sticker for the spring I needed. Mine is a model 9100 16x7 door, 148 lb TM Plus. I almost bought the one which is wrong
Hello. Sorry to hear that you were not able to find the spring tube. You should be able to simply remove the springs from inside. Let me know if you have any trouble.
Replaced the springs today, they arrived last night via UPS. Backing out the springs is actually much less scarier than what is being described. It's approximately 40 to 50lbs of pull at its worse. I had it in mind that it was going to snap my arm. The sleeves are not glued or greased so they easily came out with a little muster. Otherwise thank you. I found out at work that I'm not the only one to have a spring broken, but they paid 800 and I did not. But hey the joy of owning a house.

Excellent question Ruben! The 9100 model garage door comes in various configurations. The 9100 can come with or with glass (aka. windows). There are also wind rated versions of the 9100. And then there is the 9600 steelback insulated garage doors. Thus all of those different variations of doors will require a specific Torquemaster spring to accommodate the dimensions, configuration, and weight. Hope this helps! And thank you for the support!
Nice video. I just had my springs break. Tech converted it to exterior torsion spring and ditched the torquemaster system. He didn't have anything good to say about it. Both my springs were broken i believe since i couldn't tension either side. Had i found this video in time, i might have given it a shot to replace parts. I felt i got a fair price when they converted the door but still makes me wonder if i would've been able to fix it myself.

That being said I'm happy to have it converted given that seeing the price of new springs from your link, i wasn't charged that much more to replace it all. He just installed today and i haven't been home to check it to confirm but I'm guessing he installed a single spring on a new bar. I'm assuming new cables too since they were pretty mangled when my spring gave out. My house is new and i park in the garage so it got used multiple times a day and the torquemaster lasted 14 years. My parent's door just had the same issue last year and theirs lasted at least 20 years.

HELP!!, I wound a spring to tight and it broke inside the tube. I can not remove the spring now. I pulled it part way out of the tube and have vice grips on it. I still cannot pull it out!
I know your pain! The broken portion of the spring inside the tube has wedged on the other side. That piece is made of plastic. So you might be able to use a long Pole with a mallet or Hammer to try and nudge it or hit it out. I've done that before and although it's not easy. If you use sufficient strength you should be able to get it out.

Hello Dami. Great question! I have to say Torsion. Torsion Springs will allow a side mount a.k.a. wall mount motors to work at optimal levels. Torquemaster springs will require an adapter for use on a wall mount motor. And they offer a number of challenges that include more moving parts. Hope this helps. Thank you for the feedback.
For some reason the left side of the door is not picking up tension no matter how much I wind it. I know I'm winding the left side clockwise but it is not applying tension to the string after 8-10 winds. What could be the issue? I have new springs and new drums!
I have this exact one how do the drums come off mine do not just slip on they feel stuck, tried using a rubber mallet and started breaking pieces eventually, how am I doing this wrong nothing I do will make either drum come off

Hello party man When one side of the two cable breaks during operation with the door then stuck/jammed in the middle due to unbalanced forces, how do i get the door down to safely unwind the spring? While its in mid position there is alot of tension on the spring that is still in tacked but this of course pulls the door to one side and jamming it, p.s we are in total lockdown in my country and contractors limited to come Thanks in advance
Hey Party Person! So sorry to hear that your door is jammed. Plus it's an honor to help out our international neighbors who are doing their best during this tough time. So the first thing you need to do is find out what type of garage door you have. Is it an insulated garage door? Does it have windows? Are all the rollers in the track assembly? The weight of the door is a major factor. If it is too heavy to lift then it's imperative you call a contractor. The challenge will be in lifting the door to the complete open position. This might take an extra hand or friend to help you lift the door equally without getting your fingers caught. One the door is in the total up position you can rewind the cable onto the drum to then close safely. If the cable is frayed, broken, or even worse your garage door spring is broken then it will best to unclip the good cable on the other side of the garage and lower the door safely with the help of a second person. Again, the door weight plays a major factor. If you are not able to lift the door easily then you could cause physical harm to yourself. I would hate for that to happen. Please let me know if this makes any sense.
Hello, I followed your video for my garage with the torque master plus and replaced 2 springs on a 7' garage door. I tightened both sides 16 turns according to the instructions. The issue I have is when the garage is about half way open, the left side begins to sag. The wire on the drum becomes loose and stops wrapping tightly. The right side wraps normally. Any ideas?
Ok. I actually figured out the issue. One wire wasn't wrapping into the drum correctly which caused one side to life faster. Problem solved. Thanks for the instructions!

The reason I think its earlier model is because the end of the tube and spring tensioners are in one piece and it is very difficult to replace the cone. and THE SPRINGS HAVE A CIRCLIP AT BOTH ENDS. I believe there are two springs and its a single garage door. Would that mean if I put 14 turns on the spring, its possible to be come spring bound? As once the door lifts up the tube does not rotate and the door will not go to the ground even with the centre motor/idrive disconnected. in fact, my model of door is E3762-433. Any help appreciated.
Hello. Thank you so much for sharing your story. What you are experiencing is very peculiar. It's possible your cables are binding up. Or the cables are becoming caught on the door sections. It's also possible the door tracks are binding the door. Have you had a second pair of eyes to look at your garage door?
@SOS Garage Door Service I have sorted my problem. It was the black belt on the door lock mechanism. I was tensioning the springs with the belt on the large white threaded part in the wrong place. I had to ensure it was to the left before I put tension on the springs. I did learn that the winding cones have a channel that enables you to remove the old cables and push new 2.5mm cable in without dismantling the whole system.. ;)
Wow great video! I suppose one note is the diy'er should know the size of the door and the exact model number of the door and perhaps weight. In Houston a 16x7 9100 base door weighs 126 but if they windload it with extra struts it could weigh 100-130 lbs more

Hello. If the tension has become loose then it's possible the springs has not been tighten sufficiently. You also want to make sure you engage the lock to the ratchet end plate before operating the door. I have other videos about that process.

Hello. Yes a loud bang could be an indication of a broken springs. For Torquemaster it's hard to tell.

Great video. My right side was the broken one but when I tightened my left side, it didn't tighten but the right side did. Any idea why?

I have a 8x7 door and someone installed TT and new drums but only one side of the TT has the ratcheting mechanism. Is that normal?

I also have the same problem, the cable comes loose in the last 10 inches from reaching the top? can't figure it out?
You kind of skipped over the part where the springs go in to the tube, how does that part work? Do they just lock in place?
