Think Tank and The Magic Whip were so subdued with no extravagant guitar or much pop sensibility. If Blur had kept pushing thing from 13 in the more experimental direction they were going we'd be probably be better off for it. They seemed to have digressed into old age and settled on rather more dreamy content for those last two albums. Ps - Modern Life, really? Come on...

Kate Vielle the relationship ended in ‘97 2 years before 13 came out(‘99) but songs like tender and no distance left to run were written about the relationship. But damon was distraught about the relationship for a while. The drugs he was taking at the time did have a part in his not so happy mood I believe it was heroin mainly but he did stop taking it a bit after that although I can’t remember when specifically. It’s said that Justine(ex girlfriend) got him hooked on heroin or introduced it but idk how much of that is true.
