- Resident Evil 4 set benchmarks back in 2005 on the Gamecube, but with the 2023 remake coming soon, we've pitted both of them head to head for a graphics comparison. From the opening village scene, to Dr. Salvador with his chainsaw, and a lot more! Here's how the Resident Evil 4 Remake compares to the original RE4.

@@edgythehedgy364 They aged him up perfectly. His face is more chiseled and mature looking. This is the best Leon has ever looked in my opinion. And with that jacket from the original version of RE4, I'm just hyped all around.

It's insane how the graphical fidelity of this franchise has been getting exponentially better at the rate that it has, RE Engine never ceases to amaze me

Yeah and very easy to drive on pc as well, a mid tier graphic card is enough for a stable high frame rate gaming. RE engine is something else.

This is one of my favorite games and now it’s being remade I’m just so excited for this to be fully released
Glad they kept the OG chainsaw sound in the remake.
When you went into that underground maze and heard that sound…your nerves started shaking!

Not just the best Resident evil but one of the best games of all time.
It's not even close to the best resident evil, this remake maybe but if your talking the original Re4, RE Remake is better Re2 Remake is better Re3 Remake is better, Village is better, infact Re4 is probably one of the worst, just gets the hype because most people were introduced to the franchise through the game, doesn't hold up at all, unless you like clunky character controls, quick time events and the colour brown

@@nemesis8626 absolutely embarrassing take. resident evil 4’s influence is still felt to this day. being the first game with a over the shoulder camera, and being the reason why devil may cry as a franchise exist at all. The complaint about the controls is a ACTUAL skill issue, the game is designed like that on purpose because if it wasn’t, it would be too easy.

The graphics improvement from 2000-2005 makes the graphics improvement from 2005-2023 look moderate. The original game still holds up

They pretty much took an already perfect game and basically improved the graphics, redesigned the characters and improved the controls and stayed true to the original story. Thats the only way you can do RE4 right and thats what capcom has done with this remake 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Not just better graphics, but an improvement in gameplay, cutscenes, game mechanics...all while staying faithful to the original.
This is how you do a remake. Dead Space remake also shows massive potentiol.

It looks like the main difference is on the Remake he uses gel in his hair instead blowing it.
Feel like they took the criticism from how they remade re3 and said let's do number 4 right. This looks fantastic. Capcom this is a massive win.
The team who made the RE2Remake is the same one who remade RE4. It was a different team who remade RE3Remake.

RAGE & RE are some of the best engines out there.
The top part of the hair is the same in the remake but he lacks the shaved or the short sides. It's most notable in the original.
His hair looks closer to his re6 style where it was grown out a bit.

Capcom made such a smart move parting ways with the RE3 developers and opting for new one, cannot wait for this!!

Any way you dress it up remakes are meant to change virtually everything about the originals not just a simple upgrade of graphics. Furthermore,the fear factor is totally reduced so as to not scare new age gamers because they're so sensitive and might experience nightmares like toddlers afterwards. The biggest joke in this trailer was when Leon used his knife to block the chainsaw blade. Totally unrealistic. The OG RE 4 had it right. At close range a pathetic knife will not block a chainsaw especially when it's being wielded by a human that size. All remakes are watered down versions of the originals in every category imo. We have to spoon feed the newer generations of gamers so they don't experience real survival horror which might scar them for life.
Darker scenery does not make games better. It’s just hiding poor graphic design.
The original was crystal clear and way scarier.
Not being able to see does not equate with scarier in video game.. just detaches you from the experience.

They say different things and completely different voices, at least in this current trailer. At least they still speak proper Spanish from Spain and not some butchered thing like it happens in a lot of games.

It looks like they updated everything while remaining true to the soul of the original. A huge leap in graphics, animation, and gameplay makes this remake feel worthwhile. RE4 is one of the greatest games of all time and everything I'm seeing here has me very excited.

Big difference is the villagers are even more stronger than ever, and ammo is very scarce which explains the stealth mechanics

Erm, that is clearly not the 2005 GameCube game running on the left. Someone at IGN had one simple task, but alas…
They compared with the HD version which is fine cause its the best looking non modded version.
Better to see how it looks in relation to the most modern, accessible version than one that was outdated right after it came out. Just my opinion though ☺ 👍
