JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (ジョジョの奇妙な冒険 JoJo no Kimyō na Bōken) is the name commonly given to any one of the versions and ports of a fighting game developed by Capcom based on Part 3, Stardust Crusaders.
It was originally released in arcades in 1998 on the CPS-3 board; this version known outside Japan as JoJo's Venture. An updated version of the game was released in 1999 as JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Heritage for the Future (ジョジョの奇妙な冒険 未来への遺産 JoJo no Kimyō na Bōken Mirai e no Isan), becoming the sixth and last game released for the board.

Every single time I get a friend to play the game, they always choose Kakyoin, without fail. I don't know what it is about him, but they're just drawn to him. They have no idea how powerful he is until I tell them, which is after they choose, so that can't be it. Has anyone else experienced this?

It baffles me how jacket Dio, undeniably his most iconic design, was cut while 3 versions of Kakyoin made it in.
And 3 versions of Anubis. One of which is a random Egyptian barber.
Honestly, Jacket DIO is so iconic, I forgot that Jacketless DIO was the main version of the character they put in the game.
TBF, one of those Kaykoin forms isn't actually Kakyoin.

i wish Capcom made more of these to see what other characters would be ridiculously silly, i feel like GER and Made in Heaven would do some really silly things in the context of a fighting game. maybe goo goo dolls making the opponent smaller for a few seconds where they can't block and take more damage

I mean, Eyes of heaven and all star battle exist, although not made by capcom and kinda lack the gameplay that makes HFTF so great. There are also some MUGEN fangames that are supossed to be like Heritage for the future, but they are horribly unbalanced.
There is jojo requiem on gamejolt but some characters like dio Brando are combo freaks
Well, you could try MUGEN, but as another commenter pointed out, half of the JoJo characters for MUGEN are either garbage or horribly inbalanced

He's a fightable opponent in the PS1 game. As is Grey Fly. And there's gimmick fights against N'Dool and Enya's Justice. And mini games against a bunch of others.

The reason why kak is so broken is not because of the reasons you listed. He has good combo game, sure, but it's not the actual best one. His poke isn't the best in the game imo since it has a fat ass hurtbox and he can get punished for it. The reason he is banned are his nets. First things first - he can hold his nets and block while doing so, and the nets can only be destroyed by stand attacks. While holding the nets he can do anything that doesn't involve the attack button he is holding a net with. If you get hit by a net - you get standcrashed and stunned for a very long time, if you got hit by it on the ground - he gets a tandem combo for 80% of your health, or 100% if the kak player is cracked out. If you get hit by it midair - you will get hit by a super combo for 35% of your health and the neutral will be reset. While holding his nets kak can poke your ground approach with his half map poke and your midair approach with one of the best antiairs in the game, all the while having a projectile attack that goes full screen and can hardly be punished if he does it correctly. Basically - kak is a very well rounded char with no real weakness to begin with, but with nets he becomes a char that cannot be counter played, since he has an answer to any other tool existing in the game. If kakyoin player plays without making big mistakes - player of the same caliber cannot win with most of the other cast. Sheeeeeeeeeesh

mate almost every character can't be hit by standing attacks while crouching. that's how crouching works
not really, crouching should be there to block low attacks, not to evade mid attacks

Petshop flying to air camp isn't that serious, since he can't block while flying above. Also, s. Dio's 5a missing him while crouching is actually quite normal. Him missing a lower hitbox while standing is more notable, since you can dodge some moves by doing nothing. (ie B Pol's 236x->236x followup) Still good vid tho!
To be fair, I don't think many characters can actually do anything to stop Petshop from air camping, especially if Petshop sets up an icicle to punish them for even daring to try.

Even if they're glitches, that doesn't mean they're bad. I mean, a cornerstone of most fighting games is cancelling a normal into a special, and that was originally a glitch.

0:37 I wouldn’t exactly compare Kakyoin to Melee Fox because the latter isn’t ban worthy. While Fox is a very good character and is also ranked number 1 on the melee tier list, a sizable portion of the roster can go toe to toe with him and there are characters who he struggles a bit to fight against. On the other hand, Kakyoin basically dominates the rest of the cast having no bad matchups and the best move in the game, Hierophant’s Field. The only character who can really contest with him is his fellow banned character, Pet Shop.

I had no idea regular Kakyoin was recently banned. I was under the assumption that Iggy and Pet Shop were banned, not just Pet Shop.
I've also seen a Hol Horse with Boingo go pretty far in tournament, so I assume these tiers are pretty close together and this game is just insane.
The power gap between A and B tier is insane, the people that play are just cracked.

One day, in the character select screen, I was bored and I did move the joystick to every side possible, and, I dont know how, but the game select me the sub-boss Vanilla ice (even with his original name, instead, in the selectable version he is called Iced) and yeah, he has all the crazy moves doing half circle and everything. I couldn't replicate it, but im sure that was a glitch and not a debug cheat or something.

God I can't believe I've been gone from the community so long that Kakyoin was banned.
Now, that's not to say that the community is bad, I just stopped havving fun with the game personally. You should definitely look it up if you enjoy fighting games.

fun fact, all the three debug characters are in the psx version fully programmed to act as boss/minigame characters.
they're still bad, but you're not supposed to play them
except when you unlock them in gallery mode and get to play as them for one round only against one of the crusaders.
Something about this game is so visually appealing, the sprite work, the animations, the color theory... It's my favorite jojo game, at least visually. I don't really like the 3d games visuals that much unfortunately.

You forgot about boss vanilla in forbidden/beta characters. He looks like vanilla, but has some different sprites and attacks. His idle is less detailed than playable vanilla lol
