Alice in Chains is my all time favorite band.... I had no doubt that this cover would be done with Justice. Well done Violet, you and all the other session musicians.
I was lucky enough to see the original line up of Alice In Chains in 1990 or 91 before they became famous.

I would love to hear Violet do more grunge-era covers. Those singers had an underrated amount of versatility and Violet's voice certainly fits right into that category.

lol you guys are crazy. Violet is one of my favorite singers in the world, but even I admit that her voice wasn't at all meant for this kind of music. Her voice is way too clean. The way the vocals were mixed in this track also didn't do her much justice, but still, she's meant to sing other genres of rock/metal. Certainly not grunge. There are a few grunge songs she can pull off. Just not like this.

@@Kultivater Yeah.. when they choose to. Look at Cantrells backing for Would. They are not raspy what so ever. Chris Cornell is the same. Just look at Black Hole Sun. And Eddie Vader... 99% of Pearl Jams song have silly clean singing. And Violet kan go pretty raspy when she wants to for that matter. It is all about controll of your voice.

Brava for taking on Alice In Chains, we all know the immense range of Layne's vocals and how difficult some of these songs are to sing. You sounded amazing!
It's so hard to do a good AIC cover mostly because the vocal harmonies between Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell were such a signature sound of the band. You made the brave choice and went in a completely different direction with the vocals and you made it work. Another outstanding... You know... I almost hesitate to call it a cover because when you rework songs it's almost a full-on reimagining. Either way, well done! Keep up the good work!

Honestly I don’t think this was very good , the band was excellent but the voice was imho too deep. It kinda sounded awkward and out of key . Normally I like your music
this is not live..but cool still. even if your vocals have no actual emotion..I prefer off notes with feeling to perfect notes with zero soul....I call this a fail, sounds great...but that's not what rock is about.

The vibrato is so satisfying- and the low notes sound really really good here. Les Paul sounded great, 5-string bass as well especially with the iconic foreboding intro. It’s an impressive live session with this great band.

I mean no offense, but man6 may be offended by what I'm going to say.
I love your vocals in most everything you do.
You are very talented and I have heard you do renditions of songs that I've felt were so much more emotionally driven than the originals.
This however is not one of those songs.
I realize you were probably only trying to vocalize it as you understand the lyrics.
However...Gawd I'm so sorry to be in any way critical...but, you don't have the same vocal range as Layne Staley.
Im not saying anything about your range bring less than his.
I'm only saying your range and his differ greatly.
Your range is more to the low side...bassy...sultry.
His was high...and although he had great cleans...he also had grit.
Ms Orlandi...the song is about the hardships of addiction.
It truly requires the high end and grit so as to understand the guilt.. and pain of a struggling addict.
As far as I know you have always taken very good care of yourself, and as such cannot understand why the song needs the high end and grit.
Your rendition is the first I've heard.
No one else ive heard of has even tried.
Ms Orlandi...I know you are more of a classical and operatic voice...but sometimes the highs, and gravel must be present for the song to take it true course and show it's meaning.
I know this seems critical of you, but it isn't.
I truly applaud you for giving it a go...even though it's outside of what you would normslly do.
You are a true artist Ms Orlandi.
But...even the most high end opera singers could use a bit of cold water at times.
Vocals these days aren't only cleans.
Sometimes they are guttural growls, and gravel.
I'm sure I'm gonna take an online asswhoopin' for saying some of this...and thats okay.
My thoughts were truly meant to give you some vocal things to think about.
Learn how to accomplish and practice to become even better at your art than you presently are.
Pleaae continue with what you do,,, and ...just maybe add in some more learned vocal techniques.
May I suggest you find a way to contact Allysa White-Gluz for some instruction on gravel, and death growl vocals ?
I understand she's way cool and always willing to help a fellow musician.

The best choice of cover baby
You have a great voice, but you don't have to range to pull off some of the songs you cover. Your low-end often sounds really flat, and this performance was a prime example. Your cover of Metallica's "Unforgiven" had the same problem.

I don't know if is her personal choice to don't compress the voice and sing like the breathing of a dieing woman, and detune so much some notes, but for me the result brings this song so far from the power and anger that Laney's vocals gives and sometimes sound not so good at all.
