It isn't the "most hated quest." It's not a bad quest at all. People joke about Meridia's voice startling them when they pick up the beacon, but nobody hates the quest.
Bethesda games are themselves immersion-breaking if you don't carefully plan ahead of character creation and use a lot of imagination over scale and other technical limitations _so what's new?_
Nothing is worse than the Stones of Barenziah quest. The Dawn breaker quest is bad, sure, but even today they've left in the dupe glitch to get two Dawn breaker swords. The Stones of Barenziah quest is almost impossible to complete, and if you do, the "Reward" isn't worth didly
the reward is actually pretty good, the problem is that you get a huge boost to random loot when you've just spent hours looting the entire game to find the gems 😅 Also, by that point in the game, money isn't an issue anymore (not to mention you have to drop 25k on Prouspire for one of the gems). It does make leveling Smithing a breeze though. Transmute a bunch of ore and spam craft some jewelery with the bazillion gems you have and you'll hit 100 in no time.
Bawnbreaker isn't the most hated quest. it's just annoying that you get the fucking beacon in lower level, everytime. The most hated quest falls into "Stone of Berenziah". That shit is the worst. Once you picked the unusual gem it stays forever. If you never planned to play as a thief, that thing is useless literal 0.5 lbs paper weight. Once you appraise it to Vex, it will also stays in your inventory because apparently "nobody wants to buy a relic". Your choices are either keep it and be a 0.5 lbs burden or collect them all and become a real burden before you find 24 of them. And if you roleplay to never own a house in a city? Guess what? in an ironic joke made by Bethesda, one of them is inside Solitude potential player's home. Yeah, good luck doing all that bullshit to become a thane so you can grab the Berenziah Stone. That stone is practically cost you 20000 gold (unless you use console command to bypass the lock in Solitude home, which I did). Let's assume you found 24 of them and restore the gem into Berenziah Crown. Now what? Nothing. That thing isn't wearable. It exist just to pat your back for being the most sneaky little thief in whole Nirn. At least you get a buff from it, which increase the chance of getting gemstones from chest, containers, or dead body. Lmao yeah, whatever. At this point, you probably the richest guy in Skyrim history anyway.

I know it's not a hard quest but the one where you first go to the blades temple or what ever and you have to listen to the story of Alduins wall, and the early versions of the game would break causing you to restart the game, resetting the boring ass story, or when they light the fire by the wall to begin the boring monologue, Esbin just stands there like a jack ass for 5 minutes
A fairly bland quest and inoffensive. I'd much rather get yelled at by Meridia than go on an easter egg hunt for the nearly invisible Garridan's Tears. At least, they were really hard to see back in '06/'07 when we all still had potato pcs with much lower resolution. That quest is still bad, but significantly less so.

I’m not complaining, but I always wondered why there is so much gold in this one dungeon specifically.

Some people probably hate the quest, but I wouldn't go as far as saying it's universally hated.
I just think it's funny that you can wield Dawnbreaker as a vampire when Meridia hates all undead.
Yeah, you shouldn't be able to even pick up the quest as vampire, or get smithed by Meridia for touching her ugly sphere.
Funny or lazy and immersion breaking?
