Pant is a good batsman but he needs to become a better wicket keeper, otherwise he will end up being another Parthiv Patel. He cannot drop straightforward catches like the one he did. Parthiv Patel missed a stumping of Simon Katich 15 years ago at the SCG and it may have cost India a win in that test. This may not be as costly but something similar could happen in the future if he doesn't become better.

@mathmagician of course he is, but he shouldn't be. He should be a batsman at no.6. He has got exceptional batting talent and he should work on that 100%. He is far from being as good as Saha in terms of wicket keeping. He's performed than Vihari and Rohit Sharma and deserves to be in the team as a pure batsman.

not really, just imagine what he can bring into the table if he improves his wicket keeping, we never had a wicket keeper who can score 100s in overseas..yes saha is way better in wicket keeping but he is just a tail ender while batting in overseas...pant is just 21,no one is perfect... hope he can improve his wicketkeeping

    • @AakashBhadoriaHAL9000

@@poppzstreak9098 In Test cricket, specialists are required. That's why even ABD and Sangakkara stopped keeping wickets because they realised that there are people who can keep better and they have more value as batsmen. Players like Gilchrist, Bairstow who can handle both the jobs are very rare and I think India shouldn't be too ambitious of forcing an all-rounder out of Pant.

Not quite on the bowling front, and Jadeja is not half as smart or patient as Ashwin is. Guys, I know you always react like this, but if there’s one thing Pujara has taught us - it’s that test cricket is as much about temperament as it is about talent.

take the case of Sanju Samson then ... He proved several times that he is the best successor of Dhoni but given only one chance in international cricket . after that he is dropped . Samson is mature in the ground than Pant and has better batting techniques than Pant & his wicket keeping is way better than Pant whose hands we saw leaking several times. Pant is ahead of Samson in only one aspect - aggressive attitute of batting . Still Sanju Samson is not getting chances . North Indian cricket lobby was simply projecting Rishabh Pant as Dhoni's successor when people like Samson had outplayed him in the IPLs & domestic arena . & now this media hype ll favour Pant further #DirtyPoliticsInIndianCricket
