Hello. I’ve heard several times you have to install the tire in the opposite direction. In other words the arrow that would normally face spinning forward, should be installed in the opposite direction is that true?
Unless the tire is made specifically for a fat tire application, which I think there is one company now making it, then yes you will run it backwards. I'll try to explain the best I can, The tire you are putting on the front is a rear tire. The tires are manufactured for front or rear, meaning they are glued together a certain way for the specific placement. If you think about it like this, when you are riding and hit your brakes, the weight of the bike is pulling on the back tire, and the weight of the bike is pushing on the front tire. So the "guts" of the tire are acting in different ways. If you put the rear tire on the front with arrows facing forward the bikes weight is now pushing on the tire incorrectly and can cause the tire to come apart internally. It does not change the handleing of the bike at all, even on wet pavement where the grooves come into play to disperse the water..it still does what it is suppoed to do but you wont have it come apart on you over time. I hope this all makes sense and helps..let me know..happy holidays! - Steve

That’s a better video than your last fork replacement vid BY FAR. I did use your last vid as reference when I did my fork job. My only criticism is that when you put that cap back on the top of your tube, I highly recommend starting it by hand if you can and not straight with a power tool. Very easy to cross thread. Then you’re up shit creek. But very well done thank you.
Thanks man..yeah that old fork video was done on a bad day and I tried to make the best of it...We had plenty of time on this one. Ive done about 30 sets of forks since then too so that helps. Ive never stripped one out with a power tool...this is even how the HD dealership installs them...the cap is tapered to guide it down in the hole properly. I hope I never have to find out the hard way I guess lol

Thanks for video. I'm getting mine Saturday. You didn't cover the direction of tire. I read tire rotation is backwards on front. Is that how I tell left or right side for ABS bearing and wheel install? Thanks
Yes...there is only one tire on the market that run in the forward direction as far as I know and it the perelli, I believe. Look for the arrows on the side of the tire and make sure it is ran backward when you install it. The tire is ran backward because it is a rear tire. The rear tire is made differently than the front for braking reasons. when you hit the brakes the tire in the rear is has the weight of the bike in front and the front has the weight of the bike in the rear pushing on the tire. So when you move it to the front you have to run it backwards. I hope that makes sense..that's a short form explanation.
Man. I been working on these things since the 80s......the one thing that I always shied away from was front forks. Shit after watching this , hell they ain't shit. Thanks brother great video. How bout that front axle. Looks good, but isn't it kind of a pain in the ass when you have to change your tire??
Glad the video helped man...and no its as simple as the stock once its installed. once the bolt is set in place then you just have a nut on the other side..just loosen and remove.
What is a better choice in your opinion… the road glide limited that comes with the trunk or go with the special and have the trunk added? I can’t make up my mind.
Hey Jerry...Firstly make sure you note the differences between the RG and the RG limited..The limited has a Road king rear end so no fender extension which is the filler panels on the back side between the fender and the bags, every limited guy calls me and asks how to fill those gaps...simple, should have got a RG or RG special, tour pack is hard mounted and will cost another 3 to 400 to make it a quick detach. In my opinion the limited is not a good choice based on price. Because you have options on the tour packs..unless you just want everything coming from Harley and if you do then it wont matter get ready to get your wallet out. Over at advanblack we sell color matched tour packs, stretched bags, lower leg fairings..all that stuff that comes on that limited but at a fraction of the cost of HD...and we color match around 85 colors right now. So as long as we do your color we can paint those parts for you as well. The only difference between the standard and the special is the radio, One has navigation and one doesn't, abs brakes and maybe a few minor colored parts here and there on the M8 engine...thats it. One other thing to note is that almost ever limited has a 2 tone paint job...if you ever want to add something to the bike you youll have to pay double the price for paint from HD to color match it...Basically if you get the ultra your stuck with it the way it is..if you get the special it givies you room to make it your own, which we all say we wont do anything to the bike but we all do eventually...its a bike...we want it to be custom to us., Just something to think about. here is my honest opinion...I have bought 2 touring models and got them both standards. The harley navigation sucks, bad, so I wouldnt pay more for that, the abs is cool but ive never had it on any bike so no lose to me. I would never pay the extra for the special or the limited. Its not worth the money. Then I took those standards and the money I saved and made them my own. Please check out my videos on "Full build lists" I have one for the SG and the RG. Get the cheaper bike, get a plan i your head how you want it and then start looking at advanblack for the color matched parts that you want to upgrade. You can add the lower fairings and quick detach tour pack and basically have an ultra with a fender extension that loks way better than those nasty gaps back there, at a fraction of the cost. Sorry to have such a winded comment but ive been down this rode with so many customers before and I hate to see people throw away hard earned money.
Did a 21 fatty on my 2020 street glide with a 131 kit. Have major death wobble to the point I can’t accelerate. Harley has no clue switched out another tire and new rim and added a stabilizer. A little better but still same thing. Am switching to a 23 regular if can’t fix. Any ideas thanks
Yes sir....its pretty sick...Ive seen so many of these in the past but man when you get one on your own bike and have time to sit and study it...its just badass.
You had me trying to find a 10 point socket for the brake caliber bolts. I guess you meant to say 12 point because thats what I discovered they actually are.
Kicking the idea of either a 23" upgrade front wheel or a fat kit. Can anyone tell me preference or ride difference? Is it better to get 23" or better to get fat tire? Other than looks of course! Thanks guys.
Hey tony...yeah man im diggin it...On the janky ass fork holder I used a 10 inch clamp from harbor freight, a piece of 1 1/4" 6061-T6 angle, 12" long and a sheet of rubber gasket from menards toilet section lol I think you get 2 sheets about 10x10 inch for 5 bucks, btw menards has the hand clamps too but they were not listed on the website, however I seen them when I got there. I stuck it with some 3m weatherstrip adhesive & ruffed it up with sandpaper. Took my jigsaw and went back about 2 inches on the clamp and started my v notch and then kind of rounded it out some. 2 carriage bolts to hold it to the angle bracket. the legs are 49mm so I made it slightly smaller than 1.9 inches...I tested it with a 2 inch piece of pipe I had laying around until I got it the size I wanted.
Fair warning; this may appear to be a naive question but, is the goal in doing a fat front tire upgrade to make the front tire size bigger than the rear tire or make them equal sized?
Steve, I am at the last stage of the installation where I need to install the flush mount. I am a little confused on the part where you said to "install the cap and then insert the bolt, nut, and washer into cap first." Are we to install the cap and bolt first, tighten that up, and then simply slide the axle through into that? Also, native customs included this black cap in the kit as well but for the life of me, I have no idea what this is for. Any ideas? This is different than the cap for the axle
yes the cap/bolt washer system is to pull the notched cap into the fork legs...once its in, and its pain i the ass by the way, take the bolt washer nut system off...now the end cap is pressed into the fork leg...from the other side slide the axle through and tighten down..take the other black cap and put over that nut on the axle. The bolt, washer sytem is only used to press the cover into the axle so it wont spin when tightening the axle from the other side.
If I do the a 21 inch wheel and tire, do I have to replace the triple tree on my bike ? Or do I do every step that was in this video and be ok ? Thank You in advance.
I called them and asked if they had this wheel....not sure why they dont post it on the website because he said it was his number 1 selling wheel...but its the enforcer knock off ..wheel, tire, bearings, mounted included all from Native
Hey buddy...its not too bad ...worst part is that top cap under that spring...LOL Ive had those come off and go flying across the shop before....thats why I use the rag now...kinda holds it all better than oily slick hands thanks for checking it out man!
more stability, more traction, absorbs road imperfections more than a stock thin tire, they handle exceptionally well in the rain. And of course its just mean looking. We love it!
The more I see those kits and hear the reviews about how nice they handle, the more I am leaning towards putting one on my 17. The issue will be the paint. The Laguna Orange with the graphic on the front fender will be hard to match. 😕 Awesome video, thanks.
Ryan Caraballo, I see they have the fender I would use, it is just having the graphic done, identical to the one on my OEM fender. Same reason I haven’t changed my rear fender to the CVO style. Most can match the color, can’t recreate the graphic. Probably a sticker I could order from H-D, not going that route yet.
Hey Ricky...Im pretty sure that we found out those decals are hydro dipped from HD and cannot be pruchased. ...Your best bet would be to find someone who can airbrush...they can lay down the stripes and mock the pattern in the middle. We have had guys do it around here. Im sure it wont be cheap however.
Sorry I'm late responding but yes..I had to have a local painter paint it for me...the HD is not hard to match with 3rd party paints..no need to buy HD paint, 98% of the time.
Nice video! Looks Awesome! Want this on my 2019 RGS. I read your comments on handling but now that you have more time in the saddle, hows it handle over all? No Regrets? What do you mean that is pushes in the corners and what exactly is the learning curve that makes it ride different than the stock front tire?
Does the tire ever swell up after a long, high speed run enough to contact the fender? I want to take the plunge but the tire to fender clearance has me a bit concerned.
no...the tire doesn't act any different than say adding a wrapper fender on a 19 or 21...I actually had a bad Avon tire when i was out in Sturgis and it separated the middle band from the sides and it raised a good 1/4 or even a little more and it never contacted my fender. just to mention that had ZERO to do with the fact its a fat tire..it was a bad tire and Avon pulled them and has not started making them again...they know there was an issue but refused to replace any of them.
Really like the wide tire look. Now about that tire and wheel..?? Make and sizes for both would be fantastic! Unless you already covered it and I missed it. 🤔
Hey Scott it was all ordered through Native...the tire/wheel came all together with the bearings pressed in and ready to install. The wheel is like a stock enforcer replica and the tire is an avon...all 18 x 5.5
Ive been using this same Milwaukee M12 Ratchet now for 6 years...still on the same batteries too and I use it everyday..youll see it in damn near all my videos... this is about the cheapest Ive seen it listed anywhere ..I paid nearly 200 for the tool, battery and charger when i bought it...its now 125 amzn.to/4eQqUER
Now that you have had the Wide tire front end. . . How do you really like it?? does it change the ride and cornering?????? do a vid on this information. . regards Turtle

Thank you...yes I held out...I originally wanted the 2013 candy orange that only came out on the road glides...I just couldnt get passed the 09 to 13 road glide fairing...that thing is hideous! lol So i found the whisky...perfect.
Great video from Australia.
Thank you for checking it out! Much appreciated!
Looks good I’m more the 21” guy myself but at least there’s options!
Hey Smooth! Yeah man me too...I thought the RG looked pretty sick with the fatty though....steamroller! so to speak lol but I still love my 21 on my SG.
Do you reverse the front tire?
Please do a video on 26 inch wheel with the American suspension step by step with the front end removal
Can the stock lower legs on a 2006 Street Glide be used or do they have to be changed to the Native Baggers ones
Awesome look 👍😎...
Q... When doing a 21" fat tire,do you need to change the rake only the same thing as the 18"?🤔
Wow made that fork job, look easy...first time I did it, took me a lot longer than that...
lol..my first one took forever man...I was more worried about putting all back together correctly and kept second guessing myself lol after you do a few its not too bad. Thanks for checking out the video sir.
I’m in. Love the Shevitz 12 year old caliber protector.
I have way more of those than I would like to admit lol
Great Video, I have a Native kit exactly like that for sale, Chrome Cow Bells and lowers, Amber Whiskey fender. Nearly new Dunlop AE Tire.
I was watching and waiting for you to say how it rode in the twisties. No word at all. Could you tell me please and thank you. H&R, Shutter
man this thing handles like a dream!! Ill be doing a fat tire ride along motovlog about here soon. To cover some of that
@@sikbaggers Thanks for answering so quick. I have two brothers who'll be forming at the mouth over this.
That front fat fender & tire looks mean!
Yes sir agreed!! Im diggin that lok for sure man.
Great video Steve! Definitely doing this on my 16 RGS!
Thank you tony...Yeah im diggin that fat tire kit...man it really sets off the front end.
Great information and build. Im in the process of doing a native fat tire on road king cvo. Subscribed 🤘🏻👍🏻
Yes sir....I actually seen on the sik baggers facebook this morning has the baggers and brews on their so I looked you guys up, seen the mockup video on RUclips this morning,. Thats going to look sick man...I havent seen a RK with it on there yet. Im subbing now.....I gotta see it when your done.
what front rim did you use , i would like to keep style rims i got [ 2020 road glide special ]
I have been waiting for someone to post a video on this...FINALLY!
And thank you for checking it out....pretty easy and straight forward install. Im diggin it for sure.
@@sikbaggers it did not look too bad at all. Does it ride as smooth as i imagine it does? I live in Alaska and our roads suck so wide tire would help me roll over the holes in the road haha.
@@fwgarage2351 i dont have a load of saddle time in on it but I can tell you it is much better than stock and yeah steamroller man...we have crap roads in illinois too...right over them potholes!
@@sikbaggers Maybe after you get some saddle time in you could do a review of how the wide tire rides compared to stock, that would be badass. I know I am only one subscriber but I thought I would throw it out there.
I just did a video on a road king special with fat tire kit and it looks beautiful. Love that kit
Yes sir.....its an outstanding look and I cannot wait to get some saddle time in...Still bitter cold here in Illinois but one more week to Daytona and Ill get some riding in...Checked out your video too...well done man!
@@sikbaggers Thanks. Answered my question.
Great video thanks I'll at to my library. Keep'em coming
Thank you Marty! Be safe man!
Sorry to have such a winded comment but ive been down this rode with so many customers before and I hate to see people throw away hard earned money.
very good viedeo but where can i purshase that kit for my street glide 2018?
Thank you...the whole kit is from Native Custom Baggers www.nativecustombaggers.com/
Thanks for documenting this job, totally badass. Great work 🤙🏻🤙🏻
As always great video. That fat tire kit is fire bro for real steamroller whiskey rolling down the highway......
Yes sir....its pretty sick...Ive seen so many of these in the past but man when you get one on your own bike and have time to sit and study it...its just badass.
You had me trying to find a 10 point socket for the brake caliber bolts. I guess you meant to say 12 point because thats what I discovered they actually are.
yeah.,.shit...12 point 10mm
@@sikbaggers No worries! Still a very helpful video. Gave me the confidence to do mine! You gained a New subscriber!
Kicking the idea of either a 23" upgrade front wheel or a fat kit. Can anyone tell me preference or ride difference? Is it better to get 23" or better to get fat tire? Other than looks of course! Thanks guys.
This bike is sick af, I want it.
Thank you Alex! Shes coming along...still have a few more items to install and some mods to do but shes getting there.
Another great video, and install info. I'm going to go ahead and place my order tomorrow. Any info on where to cut to make the Janky A$$ fork vice???
@@sikbaggers Thanks for the info Steve.
Fair warning; this may appear to be a naive question but, is the goal in doing a fat front tire upgrade to make the front tire size bigger than the rear tire or make them equal sized?
Steve,
I am at the last stage of the installation where I need to install the flush mount.
21-inch fat wheel absolutely requires a rake be installed. Same rake kit a normal 23" requires.
@@sikbaggers Thank You, was just wondering since I've seen them on kits but didn't see anything about it on the video.
Love the fat 180mm tire in the front!!!
Yes sir Mario...agreed! Its a huge difference for sure!
I have a 2013 Road King. What would the kit cost for my bike?
Great Video, very informative, been wanting to put chrome lowers on my bike, and this video helped alot!!!
Yes sir..same procedure for sure...thanks for checking it out.
I see the kit prices but where did you get the front wheel and tire?
I called them and asked if they had this wheel....not sure why they dont post it on the website because he said it was his number 1 selling wheel...but its the enforcer knock off ..wheel, tire, bearings, mounted included all from Native
21” FAT TIRE NEXT PLEASE 😉
Steve you make it look easy! Great video man!
Hey buddy...its not too bad ...worst part is that top cap under that spring...LOL Ive had those come off and go flying across the shop before....thats why I use the rag now...kinda holds it all better than oily slick hands thanks for checking it out man!
@@sikbaggers next time i get down to goreville, ill have to get over to marion and buy some merchandise. Have a good one man!

Stock rim ?
Great install, thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching!
Do you have to lower the fairing in order to run a fat tire
absolutely not
Why did you install a progressive 1" drop in lowering kit? What does it do for the ride?
Hey it looks great, love the look 👍😎🇺🇸
Please explain the advantage of having a fat tire on the front end👍
more stability, more traction, absorbs road imperfections more than a stock thin tire, they handle exceptionally well in the rain. And of course its just mean looking. We love it!
@@sikbaggers
Thank You 👍
The more I see those kits and hear the reviews about how nice they handle, the more I am leaning towards putting one on my 17. The issue will be the paint. The Laguna Orange with the graphic on the front fender will be hard to match. 😕
Awesome video, thanks.
they have it on their website. they will pre paint it for you
Ryan Caraballo,
I see they have the fender I would use, it is just having the graphic done, identical to the one on my OEM fender. Same reason I haven’t changed my rear fender to the CVO style. Most can match the color, can’t recreate the graphic. Probably a sticker I could order from H-D, not going that route yet.
@@rickyhawkins7407 gotcha. I was in the website the other night looking to see if they had the blue denim but they dont
Steven Housden,
Thank you.
Looks awesome will this work on the tri glide?
Yes they have kits for tri glides ...give them a call...they can let you know what you need for them.
I NOTICED THE GET LOWERED CYCLES BANNERS. IF YOU ARE FROM PA, I BOUGHT SOME PARTS FROM YOU ON EBAY FOR MY 06 FLHTCI.
Looked and at the Native Custom Bagger website and the fender doesn't come painted, did you just go to a local paint shop and say match the HD color?
Sorry I'm late responding but yes..I had to have a local painter paint it for me...the HD is not hard to match with 3rd party paints..no need to buy HD paint, 98% of the time.
Nice video! Looks Awesome! Want this on my 2019 RGS. I read your comments on handling but now that you have more time in the saddle, hows it handle over all? No Regrets?
What do you mean that is pushes in the corners and what exactly is the learning curve that makes it ride different than the stock front tire?
I have a 2019 Road Glide and looking to do a Fat Tire wondering which size is best 18" or 21" or 23" . What would be the difference in ride and all...
How wide is a 180 tire? Is there an easy calculation for rim/tire widths?
If I want to run a 150/60 21 how wide must rim & tire be?
18 x 5.5" 180 mm Front Wide Tire
Which battery power socket gun are you using
Ive been using this same Milwaukee M12 Ratchet now for 6 years...still on the same batteries too and I use it everyday..youll see it in damn near all my videos... this is about the cheapest Ive seen it listed anywhere ..I paid nearly 200 for the tool, battery and charger when i bought it...its now 125 amzn.to/4eQqUER
Now that you have had the Wide tire front end. . . How do you really like it?? does it change the ride and cornering?????? do a vid on this information. .
regards Turtle
I'm curius...can wes use oem front fork while using this kit ? I mean only use native front fender, wide tire and rim, fork slider
Yes..I just switched to their all black forks
