17 straight 3's? Let's do the math. If you are a 40 percent 3 point shooter, which is world class level, you will hit 17 straight in game type situations once in 137 thousand attempts. That means that if you played every day, all day, you'd need about 3 decades in between. SAS seems to be more or less a 20 percent 3 point shooter. He'd therefore need more decades than he's been alive.

He has a huge problem. There is a Stephen Smith on a stat sheet. 9 games. He said multiple times that he never played a game trying to clean up his 1 game 1.5 average story. His words. So who is the Stephen Smith on the stat sheet? Was it another Stephen Smith? So he used that to create an athletic background? No one will check or remember? The ESPN segment was the time to say that wasn't me. He said 1 game .... then had to put out the fire that 1.5 point average started. So then he said that was a lie ... i never played in a game at winston salem. Thats his current version. He said i made the team year after year and my knee with the 6 foot screw gave out after a few hours and i never got in a game. Its all bs. No shame in saying that stat sheet is wrong or thats another Stephen Smith. He covered and is terrible at math. He was never on an athletic scholarship and he never played. Likely never a member of the team beyond a walk on at best. Why would he make this up? He put it on his resume back in the 90s to help him get a sports journalist job. His opportunity to clean this up ended with that crazy rant. He went full Brian Williams and rode the helicopter to career suicide. This may die down for a few weeks but its not going away. Watergate... its not the lie, its the cover up. Back to the rant. Who did he sound like? Lance Armstrong. Don't poke the Fat Bastard lol.

Scholarships are for players that play, not players that ride the bench. How bad of a player do you have to be to be a bench player for a DII school? Not a DI mid major school, a DII HBCU school. Tell SAS that 17 three pointers in a practice tryout don't go in the school record book only game points go in the school record book.

It gets worse. In that college coach's book he doesn't mentioned Stephen A at all. Stephen A said that coach was a father figure to him, but the coach never mentioned him. The coach even said they didn't have a lot of money to give scholarships out at that time as the school was struggling financially.
The other lie is that Stephen A said he wrote an article about getting the coach fired, but that wasn't true as Whitlock pulled the one and only article Stephen A wrote and it had nothing to do with him getting fired

      Mr. Nelson,
Also, most athletic scholarships back then were renewed or not year to year. (Might be different now but I doubt it.) Bench players don't get a scholly offer. And if a star recruit turns out to be a dud, coaches can release them and pull their scholarship.
